I love this. Far tooo often are people especially ,ones in Media and Entertainment, able to feel comfortable in being vulnerable. I loved seeing this the girl was connected and seemed like it really made her think about her life. I loved watching this!!

HORRIBLE advice. You can accept yourself and still challenge yourself. Rejecting yourself and thinking you're never good enough is what drives people crazy and depressed. MOST people are always chasing happiness until they die, why not be happy with what you have right now and enjoy & challenge yourself until then?

I get it admit your flaws, and be really honest with yourself so you can move toward a better life. But you must also enjoy the present moment, if your always searching for the next best thing, your not enjoying life. Its good to find small things you can be proud of for each day, if your depressed that can be calling a friend back or taking a shower, it can be helping a stranger, these small wins add up to big wins over time. You must also change a daily habit, get up 30 mins earlier, don't have that second coffee (have warm water instead), journal. etc etc. you must change something you do daily to start to actually change your life and you won't like this at first, but it will drastically change your life for the better overtime.

Cool guy...i would add though, like someone mentioned below, that we need a certain amount of contentedness in the moment, ideally, in order to be peaceful, relaxed and not always striving...there are awakened teachers who talk about this...but yeah, apparently, it's desire in all it's aspects that projects forth the play of life...Another thing is too, there's a universal law which states, whatever you focus on expands, so if one is constantly focusing on their flaws, more and more flaws will manifest...so best not to do that constantly, and to quiet the mind as much as possible and to feel peace as much as possible, and improving and desiring will just fall into place without forcing oneself to focus on flaws all the time...i don't think that's super balanced or ultimately healthy, because he will just manifest more and more flaws...but i get what he's saying...maybe it's a phase... There are spiritual teachers who talk in the direction of this, like Teal Swan...Elan would probably like her...My other favorite spiritual teachers are Bentinho Massaro and Matt Kahn, in case anyone wants to check them out...

I'm certain that I want to be friends with Elan, or at the very least have an encounter with him at some event where we end up talking for hours and then never see each other again. I'd never heard his name before, but conversation with him seems to be stimulating and thought-provoking! He also seems genuinely interested in what others have to say.

Minarose SF I understand your POV but I respectfully disagree. I think by improving self awareness in others that will make a better society that actually CARES about the world and every living thing in it(including environmental protection). I think he's trying to change that egocentric idea that a lot of the world has where they feel they are the most important person and that's all that matters.

It's a "self help" book. It's open for anyone who really wants to work on personal growth. If looking at the world and yourself as not that great, then you are right, this book definitely isn't for me. I am an advocate for mental health and I continue studying positive psychology due to new research constantly being done. Everyone is equal -that's healthy. Everyone sucks, so its okay- unhealthy. Book has no empirical evidence that this outlook works. I would see it more as entertaining read that may provide some laughter. Nothing else. Take care Mely Mel

Seriously....the hair? I get we all need to be self aware. We all need to strive for greater honesty and depth with ourselves, etc. But is there some odd rule against brushing one's hair. Ummm wth is wrong with Elan Gale? Lmao, why does he look like a homeless person? If I saw him on the street , I would never know he was a millionaire. Hey guys while your at it, you should have asked him why does he look a hippie, but his show caters to mostly white straight laced audiences. When are they gonna start putting black and people of color to broaden their audience. It's a damn shame so called inclusive ABC. Only in 22 yrs of the Bachelor franchise, has had only one black Bachelorette. And no black Bachelors. Not one person of color has been the Bachelor on that show. Hopefully they will step up to 2018 and not cater only to white audiences with a few token blacks so we can watch for ratings. And really be inclusive and put smart, successful, good looking , charismatic. Bachelors of all different races on the Bachelor, and the Bachelorette. I think the shows ratings would go through the roof.
