Well crap New TSU-4400 board came today and it's no good ☹️. First I thought it was the Dash-9 as none of the J2 functions or sound worked. Then I disconnected the board and wired it up to the UP FA I just did and no sound or j2 functions still, a real bummer. Hopefully I'll get a replacement quickly and get that installed.
Thanks for making these videos. Sucks about the board. I just got mine and plan on installing a Blunami board in it. Looking forward to your next video.
New TCU-4400 will be here on Monday, will have it installed that evening hopefully. I also spoke with Bachmann today and they confirmed that they are looking to remake the Aristo GP40s for next year, followed by the E8s depending on sales results of the Dash-9s. I looked for the other PNP DCC +Sound decoders that will work in the Dash-9 PNP socket, they would be the Phoenix SM18 and the Zimo MX697, none of them are available and they have No eta as to when they will be again ☹️.
I always tear out all boards and wiring and re-do the whole stuff myself. Then it works. Sad that this seems to be necessary even with such a new model like the Bachmann version of the dash 9.
Well to be fair there aren't any new plug and play boards available for this engine yet, but was told they are in development. The one I was using is over 10 years old and was designed for the Aristo socket, and it didn't have those features either so wasn't surprised that they didn't all work in the new Dash 9. The new TSU-4400 arrived and I will wire it up using the adapter board and then we'll see if everything works. If all the functions do work with the adapter board then they should work when a new PNP board comes out.
