I think Bachmann gained a bad reputation in the 80's and early 90's, because almost all steam locomotives had wheel quartering issues and diesel locomotives' gears cracked, causing a loud click sound.
Just ordered my EZ Command controller yesterday, along with a couple of DCC Locomotives. Me and my father just picked up the hobby again after about 35 years...He's 82,I'm 40...He wantes multiple trains on one track,And sometimes the whole wiring bit can be a bit frustrating. So this is a blessing indeed!
Lovely Video clip! Forgive me for the intrusion, I would love your thoughts. Have you heard about - Januke Henatalie Formula (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now)? It is a smashing one off guide for operating a DCC model railroad minus the hard work. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my work colleague after many years got astronomical results with it.
I've known of the E-Z Command system since it first appeared in 2004 catalog. It was my first exposure to DCC. After that, I came to learn of DigiTrax, MRC, NCE, Lenz, and ESU. And, no offense to Bachmann, I've found the best of the bunch to be NCE. Of course, rather than an NCE throttle, I usually use my own iPhone and the WiThrottle app, all at my model train club.
Nice! I'm planning to get that system. I have the bachann dcc Durango and silverton 2-8-0 locomotive, the bachmann southern 2-10-2, a 2-6-0, a 0-6-0, a Santa Fe 4-8-4 and 4x7 layout on the bottom bunk of my bunkbed!
I am using a DCC on Board train and the EZ Commnad. For some reason the train won't activate or respond unless I push it, even then it only runs for a couple inches then stops. PLEASE HELP!
Hownottobuild This is my second account but I'm pretty sure I cleaned it when I posted that comment. I forget how I cleaned it though... Is there a certain way or thing I should use to clean it?
Will someone please explain to me why the left handed crossover from Bachmann is very unpopular and on top of that when I was looking for them on ebay everybody was wanting the "Right Handed" ones instead. Why is this the case? I have a left hand no. 6 Crossover with two controllers item number 44575 and noticed that they are not in demand....why again I ask? Do people prefer going right instead LOL
Regarding running an analog locomotive on the E-Z Command system, I found that making an isolated dead-end siding that can be powered on and off via a switch (like the Atlas connector) to park the analog locomotive on is a pretty good idea.
This is a question I haven’t been able to find on RU-vid yet. So I just received a DCC locomotive from eBay, and I don’t know how to recode the locomotive from a multi digit code, to a single digit code using EZ command, since that’s all I have for DCC controllers. Is there a way to do that with it?
I have a digitrax dcc equipped athearn s12 I am trying to program it to run on both dcc and analog dc I have a ez command controller and I am unsure if it will kill my decoder to program it to 10 which is for analog locomotives
It should be, I've actually connected some old Atlas track to the Bachmann E-Z track, and everything works just fine on both. The power connector will be different for the Atlas track, but it shouldn't be difficult to make an adapter.
You can control DC locomotives with this controller but to have the consist and lights and sound features you have to have a DCC decoder in the locomotive
please bachmann answer this question: if the ez command controller says "light" instead of "function" will that button still work as the function button or am I gonna be ripped off and only be able to turn on the light. I was told I would have 10 functions able to control sound. can u answer this question please ASAP!? thank you
Quick question if I turn on my controller to the Bachman Santa Fe train with a hopper with plastic coal an empty black small hopper and a red kaboose if I were to put a second train with remote and turned it on would the other train go as well?
Hi I am being given a HO Scale layout and am wondering about useing Bachnan EZ track not sure yet if I will need to replace any thing thank you for posting these videos Dave
I have the Bachmann DCC EZ command control center (item #44932), which does not have the option to connect accessories. So, how to connect remote turnout red wire.
Help I got a DCC setup and it didn't come programmed to 3 ,according to your video here I'm getting a short circuit signal every time I put it on the tracks? any help would be appreciated.
Good video. I have a small dcc layout, Two separate tracks. We used flex track and the drop feeders are connected to separate bus wires. How do I connect to the two red wires from the controller? Where do I solder them? To the end of the bus wire or directly to the track. Which wire is negative, they are both red.
The other day i was running my Bachmann DC Chattanooga engine and the smokestack started melting! it is not a older engine about a year old I had it on low power and running with smoke. but even without smoke, it will still get hot! I am afraid to run it. any advice?
I got a DCC engine from u and I try programming it to a different address on a digitrax and I coundnt program it to the address 3002 and I really need help but I can't find any.
You can only use 1 EZ Command Station. If you want to have 2 control panels, you have to use one command station and one walk around companion. If you try to use 2 Command Stations they will cause a short circuit.
Sorry you probably can never understand me I meant when the DCC controller is plugged in on the other side of the board can you plug in a regular controller and run non doc locomotives
Hello, the plug for my ez command track wire ,the plug that connects into the ez command itself broke does bachmann sell replacment track wires for the ez command?
Perhaps I missed it, are the DCC encoders that come with the locos in the set compatible with other systems like will my bachmann loco work on a digitrax system?
I say some other videos and I just saw a video of MTH HO NKP 765 because I saw he runs with EZ Command Control and evening Lionel HO Polar Express because I just saw that video. I might get one soon.
When I plugged mine in when I got it the light's went dim an it's getting hot . I cannot get it to do anything I believe I purchased one that's defective? Any answer you can help me out with?
@@carterbrown3807 Yeah it does, but I rarely use analog locomotives regularly on my current layout. But on my previous layout where I used the E-Z Command system I had an isolated siding that I could switch the power on and off to, for parking an analog locomotive on, so I wouldn't risk damaging the motor from letting it sit getting power for too long.
Hi Phil, this sounds like you have a short somewhere on your layout. Check your track connections and ensure they're tight and correctly aligned, look for any rolling stock that might be derailed, and check to make sure that no metal items are making contact with the rails (other than wheels).
That I know; I've got one locomotive that came with the controller that has a decoder. I may get another DCC-equipped locomotive as well, and then attempt to upgrade on certain models.
Eric Trostin Yep, the locomotive actually runs pretty well. I currently have four DCC-equipped locomotives: two are Bachmann (BNSF GP40-2 and ATSF FT-A Warbonnet), one is a Life-Like Proto 1000 F3A (ATSF blue/yellow) and one is a Walthers Trainline Dash 8-40BW (BNSF Warbonnet); the latter two use TCS decoders.)
