I'm so glad you had a wonderful time at the wedding! I think you have to get a phytosanitary certificate, and part of that process is they bare root the orchid and treat it with some kind of chemical that kills any/all of the organisms on the surface of the orchid. That's why when you have orchids imported from other countries, they're usually in pretty bad shape. Your collection always looks amazing! We always look forward to seeing your new videos and so glad you're back!
That sounds right! The nursery that I knew could provide it for me was about an hour and a half away and I decided I didn't want to take an uber each way to go, but next time I'll rent a car and make my way around and go for it.

I have moved mine three times to insure they don’t get overheated. Mine are all outside in clay pots with volcanic rock but the over 95degree temperature every single day is making me think if I should add other medium to keep moisture even though the humidity is so high also. I never had to worry before and to make matters worse the summer has not started😫😫😫. Thank you for sharing your trip with us.♥️♥️♥️
I'm so glad you enjoyed this :) Oh man, 95 degrees is hot so you have to water so much, but I get it, if you make it to moisture retentive, when things cool in the winter you could have trouble, I would probably add a tiny bit of moss maybe 10-20% to help out, and taper off on watering more in the winter

While you were in Brazil, I saw that there was flooding there on the news, but I don't think it was near where you were staying. On Friday, I got to finally check out Logee's (since 1892) which is 30min north of the casinos in CT. I got to pick up the Rlc Amazing Thailand and a noID phap with huge pink/white blooms with purple stripes on the edges of the petals. I also and still have a problem with mites or fleas on some orchids. I had a humidifier running during the winter, but I think they got infested after I had two in a downstairs bathroom with the window open to get a cool down. I tried repotting the paphs, but they seemed to have come back on another one that I repotted so I hope it's not coming from the bark. 😵💫 The Neem oil I have is supposed to be for mites as well, but it doesn't seem to work that week even after soaking because they kept coming back. Thanks for checking out my collection video. I'm thinking about having some of the cattleyas in an eastern facing porch as much as possible. I was even thinking of dividing some and see how they do outside under the porch, but I prefer specimen size plants though and the risk of infestation is too high. I cut the spike for the Rustic Spots today after the flowers wilted. They were pretty small but maybe the first time they bloomed. The Small World hybrid blooms opened and the they pure yellow from the front and a little pink on the other side.
Yeah the flooding in Rio Grande do Sul is terrible! So many people lost their homes :( I've been wanting to check out Logee's but its a hike for me. I'm glad you were able ot go and got something nice. I cut my Rustic Spots today as well, it finally faded, but it was beautiful. Small World is cool. Orchids all so beautiful. Me I’m in the process of moving some of mines from outdoor to my covered patio. Just too hot. We have the Redland international orchid festival this weekend. Was there for 5 hrs Friday. It’s a great show u need to come one day

Oh wow looks like you had a blast! It was obviously a wonderful well deserved and needed trip! 😊 damn spider mites! 🤬 in 2 weeks they can really run a muck, fast! Nothing to stop them! Ugh usually in wild rain keeps them at bay so its good you flush them and clean them up. Its almost like a good rain storm on them. Glad your back! 😊

they have to be able to provide a CITES and phyto. Bringing plants here is a heck of a lot easier than other countries. You could have brought up to 10 (or up to $2000, whichever comes first) without having to get an import permit from USDA, just the CITES and Phyto is sufficient.
I will try it next time. The nursery that I knew that could provide one was an hour and a half away and I didn't want to take an Uber each way not fully knowing the whole process. I'm gonna rent a car next time and go for it. I'll be back haha.
You also have to do paperwork on your end with the US government. In the EU dendrobiums make it through easily. It's rare orchids that may get stuck in customs. I don't know about South America...yet.

Look, Orquidário Americana are extremely overpriced, they work with "special plants" but even being specials they still overpriced... Like Crazy. Next time try to talk with Orquidário Suzuki, they have the moust amazing cattleya hybrids and i think they chip internationally!!! Have a great week... M.

Looks like you had a really good time. Sorry about the spider mites. What do you use to mist your orchids? Also, if dendrobium phalaenopis leaves are starting to yellow is it to much sun and can they be saved ?
THank you! I mist the collection regularly with water, but if I'm treating the collection I use a spinosad spray of Naturalyte Insect Control. Yes, I would back off the den phal from the sun to try to preserve it and see if it pushes a new growth!
