Hey.Jay! The best part about your videos is that you keep it real so keep keeping it real!! I was in Manila for three days, in Dumaguete for a week, just got to Iloilo for a week and will finish back in Manila for four days before going home. I love It here, but like you said, it's not for everyone. I met up with Gio for the second time. I have known him through Facebook for several years now and got to meet his lovely wife Maya. I sat for an interview with Maya on dating and my experience on Christian Filipina. I don't like being on camera, but agreed to do it since they have been so nice to me. Totally agree , cold weather is much less fun as we age . Nice you came home to no snow though, I can back home in January from Duma to a temp of -30 Celsius. With some planning duma is for sure a possibility, you seem to be on the right track

Great video content Jay! reason I said that was because I was born and raised in Manila but now have been in Dallas Texas for the last 20 years. You hit the nail on the head about people wanting to retire in the Philippines and the type of people that are out there. Good job, stay honest and keep up the good work!

Jay, I agree in that I hate cold. But it is only in third place to what is bad about winter. Number 3, cold, Number 2 snow, and the worst thing about winter is ice.

I know how you feel; came back in January from BGC (85F) to Chicago (-10F). I'm going to morph into a snowbird asap; move things around in the US so I can stay in the PI December - April (dry season). Don't get me wrong, I love Chicago, just not in the winter. Just subscribed, love your videos!

I'm with you on not liking the cold weather. I was a fireman in Oklahoma for 29 years. And you get super hot in the building fires and then you go out and load hose* while you're all sweaty and wet and I've felt a new level of cold I don't want to feel ever again

Philippines is a developing country. Sorry to say that it is still much behind in some areas where people wants to live in the city wherein they cannot afford.

There is a Single Detached House 2 Bedrooms 2 Bathrooms for 44 sqm. in Dumaguete, it is small house & lot but its a good start, you don't need to rent anymore and i know you have friends here that can give you an ideal but simple place to leave just take your time...stay safe

I'm 62, been watching Vloggers from Dumaguete and the Philippines for since 2019 - built my Tiny Home in Guimaras, and then Covid locked us out. This year, we will be there in November, but it will never be permanent for my wife, because she never got her citizenship, and now we've discovered that she has to come back every year or two, and do extra works and fees and reentry permits. You look too young to retire, but I appreciate your Vlog and I'm going to keep watching, so I hope even in the US, you keep making them. Like you, I'm a brand new Vlogger, with no follwers yet, but that would be the reason to take a trip to Dumaguete to get some exposure. But, I really don't do it for the money. I just want to stay connected to my kids, my grand kids and my friends. And, I like the Vlog idea as a vehicle to let them know what's going on. I find this format comforting. I'm not all about the interview all the time. I also like lifestyle and you have a nice place to let a lot of Americans see the Rural Flyover part of our country and how you manage it. So, in my opinion, worth watching.

You have beautiful country where you are in America....your vlogs are good, but I would not depend on them for a source of income in the Philippines, but for advertising your new builds, yes! I knew I would return to the Philippines....just needed to be retired...with a monthly source of income. Your idea to building homes in the Philippines is a good one!

Hey Jay. I was watching this video today and heard you make the comment that your daughter didn't have any kids to play with since you are remote. One idea that came to mind was that your wife might consider doing child care out of the home. There will be plenty of parents looking for a place to put their kids while they are working over the summer. It would give her some spending money and sense of purpose as well. --- This was the first video of yours that I've watched and I've subscribed. I have about 6 years until I hit retirement and plan to visit the PH and other countries in SE asia. Currently married (FM, not PH) and she is looking forward to the trip as well. I enjoy hearing your perspectives being from Kentucky. I'm about 2 hours north of Louisville and 1 hour south of Indianapolis.

I have to say Jay i was in the Philippines last Feb. stay for 1 month after 3 weeks I'm ready to go back home to amerika when I got home with in a week I came down with pneumonia never had pheumonia before. I too was planning to possibly just settle first into a house I would find on rush sale or a foreclosure. The foreclosures are available to you also brother so don’t forget that one 🤙🏻

When i was in the Phil i guess i was so shocked that i couldn’t leave the resort and you’re just walking around. Your good therapy for Americans to get outside their comfort zone. Definitely interested if you goto Cebu, we’ll probably get something there as well. I do like the weather and the people are nice but the poverty blows me away.

Just reviewing your video i haven't see. I agree with you you, have to have your own house to feel your home. Even for us OFW to own land and house are usually our main goal...even smalll but decent. Now, still abroad soon to be in 60s..preparing for retirement too!👍🇵🇭🇧🇭🙏

Well i think thats a good one for the immigration you have to exit for a 3 year stay in the philippines to really feel home and thinks whats the best for every body. Just stay focus and do your best for everything .

the Philippines has undergone so many changes since 10 yrs or so ago...what foreigners will see now is a new n modern Philippines, with high rise skyscrapers everywhere n s whole lot tourist attraction n destinations in and around Metro.Manila...there are the ultra modern cities like Makati, BGC, Eastwood city, McKinley Hill, Mall of Asia n Aseana entertainment city, Rockwell, Filinvest city in Alabang, n many more modern townships sprouting outside Manila.... numerous new hotels , cafes n restaurants n of course the several huge Malls n sporting arenas...

Why would you return to the lower 48 in the winter time 🤔 Maybe you covered that in another video. The Philippines is a Big beautiful place- not sure why Dumaguete is the target destination for many. This is a short story of myself. When my cousin and I are just about 8-9 years old. We talked about where we wanna be when we grow up. After watching movies like Superman, back to the future and other western movies? We always dreamed of going to the US someday. But when our rich uncle sponsored us (basically to work for his company 2 years contract). We got a good salary and we loved it for 2 renewed contracts. But after four years? I said to myself. Okay! I wanna find a girl and settle now. I got married and never had any plans to spend the rest of my life in a cold weather country like the US. My wife also has a childhood dream of living to the US like me when I was a kid, so, when our first born son get eligible enough to travel? We booked ourselves to the US as a tourist (we stayed with my uncle btw). After a couple of weeks? My wife and my son say " I wanna go home dad". Hahaha! I laughed so hard that my wife and son wondered why 😂.

Honestly bro, i can’t live on that kind of environment. You might have everything but eventually mental stress will eventually takes it’s toll. Severe cold in isolated environment all the days of your lives. Philippines a laid back setting but vibrant and always noisy and festive atmosphere will make your day.

I hated the Philippines when I went on vacation as a 13 year old because of the heat/bugs. Now that I am older money solves nearly everything and you can fix your problems with a little bit of money. I also lived in Kentucky when I was in the 101st airborne, I honestly thought during the heat time it remind me of the Philippines but becomes cold AF later on lol. Philippines is amazing to live, way more peaceful life imo.

I thought Kentucky had mountains like the Appalachian Mountains.

Coincidentally my brother in law and his Filipina live in Paducah ... they were just here for a couple of months we are in Northern Mindanao just a skip across the pond to Duma ... my Filipina and I met in Canada living here now with our youngest 2 sons absolutely NO REGRETS all the best to reaching your goal!

definitely don't take over someone else's problems regarding a house! try to find a home built in the 90's or early 2000's, and FLIP IT! I Got One down to 70k. The original asking price was $175k! It even had a swimming pool!

Philippine is developing Country now. They are competing with Vietnam for developments. Huge projects working right now for subways, roads and bridges connecting from one island to another. The tourism has been flocked by foreigners by millions each year. Internet connection and Healthcare are inwork. 🎉There is prediction that in 2070 can surpass France.

Over 5000 subs in a few months, it added up fast..I remember when it was less than 100. Did you do the cost of the trip while in Florida (around 30K?) Yep...a lot of those Dramaguete tubers are digging for RU-vid gold....most actually...they love chasing the fame. The coffee shops are predatory...tubers waiting to pounce on their next subject...their next check. Sounds like you've lost your inspiration for making videos. Looks very quiet there at your house...no roosters crowing, dogs barking...or 2AM karaoki. And...if there are roosters...they look to be at least a half mile away. Definitely culture shock returning to KFC country. The next trip to Phils is around the corner!
