You're right about Antprillia.....he has the Dragon dialed in for sure.....and those night runs are just crazy. No way I would run it at night....I deer hunt (in NC) and if you could see the number of deer I see and the time they get active being 30 mins prior to dusk.....you wouldn't even think about throwing a leg over a bike at night in the back country.
Last year I believe max wrist was smoking him but this year + the track days he did = killer at the dragon amd night runs anywhere in the backroads is instant disaster even here in California lol
Always good to find one of your videos in my subscribed 'box'. You're very rapid, but very calculated - the best way to be on the road 👍 Hope the cota day goes well. I liked the Power RS tyres, but the construction seemed to change when they went to the rs plus and 5s.
If this is one of the best twisties next to your place you would have loved the Nürburgring and its surrounding areas - may be except the weather bètween Nov and Apr - which is a very loooong break. Have fun & greetings from Europe
I couldn't agree more with your comment on the Michelin Power 5 tyres. I was previously using the Power Cup 2 tyres & loved them... thought I'd try the Power 5s, tread pattern looked so similar... but there is just no feel in the Power 5s. They weren't terrible but gave me no confidence in the grip even with quite low pressures. I will be going back to Power Cup 2 or Metzler Racetech M9RR for thje next set of tyres.
You should see the Road 6. Pretty much the same issue just worse grip. Wanted decent mileage and a bit of performance in colder weather, instead got a front slide. Got no major complaints from it if you're taking it slow though. Took them off after 3-4000 km, now I have Mitas Sport force + EV, which is miles better for what I for one need in summer months.
Hey man im buying a XR m pkg bc of your videos.. Wondering are the Cup 2’s only good at high speed twisties or all around.. most my riding is commuting back n forth to work.. but hit twisties at 70% on weekends!!! Thanks
Great weather in Texas, id love to be there on my bike. Its 14c here in Scotland at the height of our summer sometimes reaches 21c or 70f at best Man i wish i could ride with you right now, so jealous to see you out on your XR
@1:05 - Well, he wouldn't have been the first to sacrifice parts at the tree of shame. I'm glad to see he made it through there without anything bad happening. It looks a bit of a sweeper going in and then all the sudden, decreasing radius! @1:19 - That corner has been dirty for ages now. I'm actually surprised at how good the grip is through there even with all the dirty in the road. @8:53 - Sorry about the helmet cam stuff, track rules. If you have a bluetooth with an integrated camera, that can go on track. The issue is the standard GoPro mount seems to be designed with weak link that breaks away in the event of a crash or hard enough bump. We can end up with debris on track which is a safety issue which will brings out a red flag, unless a mentor is kind enough to kick the camera off track. We're also getting feedback that the track safety officers feel the camera mounting can compromise the integrity of the helmet, or if the track has a lot of character the mount could catch on something putting the rider at risk of more serious injury.
Your riding buddy on the blue bike that almost went down needs to take some courses. He entered the turn at 0.50 in the video and hit the inside of the left turn immediately, causing him to run wide in that corner. The next corner on the video, he does the same but goes off the road. I think you might need to educate him on line selection and why he needs to straighten out the radius of the corners by entering a left turn from the outside and staying there until he can see the exit, then go to the apex. If he continues riding like he does now, he is going to be hurt sooner or later.
@@Chuzo1946 Yep, he will live longer that way. With him over the double yellow line, had a vehicle come the other way close to the double yellow, he would have had two choices; hold his bad line and get hit head on, or swerve hard and go straight off the corner into the trees and rocks. Neither choice a good one. Having a fast bike does not make one fast!
what you think of traction control?! i will buy my second bike (probably a from 600 > 1000cc) soon and thinking about if this is a must have especially for advanced beginner rider. thinking about a GSXS 1000 - CB1000R - Z900/1000
Hi Cuban Rider, I always enjoy your vids, thx... that guy in front of you that drifted onto the dirt was very lucky! could have been disastrous.... you mention your XR gen1 being 6 years old and still going strong, .... what is your current mileage?... did you do any major mods and or engine repairs all these years ??... thx , take care! regards from South Africa.
@@CubanRider Thanks for the reply, I wonder maybe the 2021 model is weaker than yours. Just feel like something is missing, I have full akra and brentuning.
Hey cuban how tall are you? I’m thinking about getting an S1000XR but am concerned that i am not quite tall enough to flat foot the bike. I am 5’9 1/2 for reference. I’ve heard there is a factory lowered version of this bike and options for seats to get you a little lower. What spec is your bike?
Cole I'm 5'10". I have the regular seat and regular suspension and can't really flatfoot the bike. on both sides. I think you'll be okay, but if you don't feel comfortable you can buy lowering links for less than $200.
No offense but that guy is wasting his money on cup 2s if hes not keeping a pace. He’s well better suited on some hypersport tires. There’s no way hes “feeling” the grip when he doesn’t even look like he can push sport touring tires hot enough. Just my thoughts 🤣
