In this episode, my ankle has healed enough to hit the road again, so I am leaving Utah! It's time to ride into Colorado. The difference in scenery is drastic and from the hot, dusty canyons around Moab, it's straight up into the snow! My friend Ed rides with me for the first part to see me off and then I"m on my own again!

Yeah, well I guess it's not like he has to go to a 8 to 5 job everyday like the rest of us, and he makes plenty of money from youtube to be able to drive 1000 miles return to 'rescue' Itchy, as for 'selfless'.... he just got a whole lot of new subscribers to his channel thru his act of 'charity'. You may think I'm a negative thinker, but I look at both sides of the coin. I see that Ed is a truly nice guy, generous, friendly, helpful, a lot of great attributes. If Noraly was a big ugly bear of a man, do you think he would still go out of his way to 'rescue' her?

@@munter10 Damn straight Ed would (go out of his way to rescue), if the 'big ugly bear of a man' was a good friend with a heart of gold. He is a scholar and a gentleman. I have one such 'big burly' bloke (who bears a striking resemblance to Obelix) in my life and too right, I'd do the same for him if he reached out for help. It's called 'kindred-spirited friendship' and it transcends 'clannish' 'blood' ties. Think Easy Company 101st Airborne, the 'Band Of Brothers' (and sisters, esp with respect to the ADV motorcycling fraternity). BTW 'Rhonda' is my name for my motorbike, and I'm as affirmationally male as they come.

I am not a rider but I noticed that Alaska was bumping excessively when you rode with Ed... Good call Norali...that may be Part of Alaska going wild when your accident happened.. Take it easy on your ankle. Praying for a full recovery.

Hi Noraly. I’ve come to know your channel on your Season 2- Patagonia to Alaska trip and absulotely love it and binge watched Season 1...and got hooked ever since. I just got to have my itchy boots fix 3x week! Your progression in riding, video/music editing and drone shots is just amazing! Your interaction with the local people, story telling of the evironment and problems you encounter and solving them...is truely inspirational. I really miss your geology classes though. Take care and have a safe ride to Alaska. Thanks taking us along. And thanks to Ed for being your wingman for a couple of days...a very capable mechanic, a survivalist and a gentleman...a really cool dude.

It's a shame that you missed Bryce Canyon and the redwoods in California but that's the way travel goes! We were doing an Ontario to BC trip that was supposed to go via Vegas but three days stuck in Sioux Falls SD with a dead stator changed our plans. Our changed route took us through some amazing places though that we wouldn't have seen on the trip. There is always next time! (Easier for me then you!)

Ed is AMAZING!!!! THANK YOU ED!!! Noraly, it's good to see you back on the road. If you are headed towards Denver, in a town about 45 minutes south is Larkspur, there is a Rennaissance Faire. However, if you need anything, you have friends that can help if needed. SO HAPPY your ankle is feeling better!!!!

Aspen trees! (look a bit like Birch, but different) - are uniquely adapted to the high altitude environment. Their leaves flip back and forth in the slightest breeze, allowing them to photosynthesize on both sides (most plants only use one side). This allows them to compete better in the difficult, high altitude environment, surviving where other trees cannot. A grove of Aspens is typically not really separate trees, but a single giant organism with a root system connected underground. They are spectacular in autumn when the leaves turn gold. Safe travels, looking forward to your next episode as always! :)

Another tip about Aspen, from an Alaska Homestead kid (pre statehood), they indicate areas of good drainage, typically on sandy areas, if looking for a cabin site!

The California you are thinking of no longer exists, it's been hijacked by the Marxist lefties, and is now the center of homelessness and morally bankrupt society. The mid west would be the place to be in the States, oh, and take a gun with you.

Noraly’s ankle wants: rest, ice, compression, and elevation… The bike was compressed, she rode at a high elevation, saw some ice and snow… and now she is going to rest (a bit, at least). Not exactly what doctors had in mind… 😜

@@beto46133 Yeah but it has been cool up there this year (until now), and warmer down here. Those aspens have not leafed out on much of this video. Also the Moab area was awfully green. I would guess this was filmed mid June. That also makes more sense for having time to get to Alaska before winter. But it could just be the high contrast settings of most cameras making things appear greener.

Black Bear Pass and Ophir Pass are difficult especially if have a sore ankle. In case you were thinking about doing those. California pass is pretty steep but not to technical. Last time I rode up it was compacted dirt and very little loose rock but that was last year. Engineer Pass was loose rock last year as well. Also finding rooms in these small towns like Telluride, Silverton, Ridgeway and Ouray and many others this time of year is extremely difficult. Just for your planning purposes.
