There needs to be a stabilizing spinal fusion that still allows for the normal motion of the spine by using HYME JOINTS instead of eliminating that option by permanently bolting the involved vertebrae all together

after several talks with docs, this is the FIRST time someone has mentioned preventative work on ASD and how to side step this issue. Thank you! this is a great service. I want to hear more.

So doc, what you said is that we can prevent ASD by changing our movements and lifestyle? I use to think that but when I ask my doctor what can i do to prevent ASD? Can we exercise, change the movement, change lifestyle, loss weight, eat healthy or take vitamins and he said none. This video really make me feel better and less worry about ASD if what you said is true. I wish you would make more videos and also videos that teach how to moves the right way with spinal fusion and what to do. Because the surgeon won't help us with any of this. All they care is that we heal and done with us. They did not tell us what we can do and not to do. Please make more videos to help millions people that suffer, thank you.

Why does no one ever talk about adjacent segment syndrome after a scoliosis spinal fusion? I'm fused from T1-L1, and every disc below my fusion is now herniated. I have SI Joint dysfunction, DDD, osteoarthritis of the spine, spinal stenosis, post laminectomy syndrome (I'm not sure how, because I've never had a laminectomy... but I'm diagnosed with it?)... I had my scoliosis fusion surgery right before I turned 14, I immediately started having chronic pain that I had not experienced before the surgery, not to mention I had a bolt that was protruding significantly around T6, which made it impossible to sit back or lay down on any hard surfaces (chairs at school, dining chairs, laying on the floor, etc..) My surgeon told me everything was perfect, and I was just too thin (that was his reasoning for the bolt visibility protruding through my clothing), and at this point he didn't need to see me again since everything had gone so well, even though I had been back 6 times over 2yrs complaining of constant pain and the pain from the hardware. I got a second opinion and the new orthopedic surgeon said that it didn't matter how thin I was, the bolt should not be sticking out like that, he was extremely frustrated with the work that had been done on me, but since I was already fused the only thing that could be done was remove the hardware, which I did. The hardware removal helped some, but not fully. My muscles were so damaged from the 2 surgeries that 2yrs later I made a super slight twist and tore the muscle from my spine along with a bone fragment (I instantly knew I did something really bad but I was 21yrs old, and didn't have health insurance, so I didn't do anything about until) which caused a large cyst to form around the fragment of spine, so another surgery. 3 back surgeries by the time I was 21. I'm now 42 and I live in severe chronic pain. I've had so many injections and procedures that I've lost count. I have no quality of life. I live only for my kids and my husband.

A paradigm shift in understanding of adjacent segment disease is required. It isnt really a disease. It develops if global spinal movement after surgery is not optimised.

So sorry what you have went through. Yes, I do not know why many doctors never tell you about ASD before surgery. I feel like they all about money. I have a burst fracture injury. Which I think it can be recovered with a brace but doctors keep warned me if I do not do surgery. I may injury my nerves and maybe paralyze if I'm not careful. So he recommended surgery is the best for my situations. But at that time I do not know it will cause ASD until I got home from the hospital and do some research and I feel sad and worried. Anyway how are you been doing do you get anymore pain or problems with you back?

@@philh8023 hey Phil how is your burst fracture? Which bone did you have your burst fracture on? Did you end up getting surgery or how have you dealt with it?

Do you have a video explaining how to be flexible, fit and active while remaining so stiff in the upper body? I am scheduled for fusion due to spondylolysthesis and want to be proactive post surgery to reap the most benefit from (hopefully) eliminating the pain and limitations of my current situation.

No response means so sorry so sad. I wish you luck. Be careful how you use your back after surgery I'm going on 8 years after neck and back fusions thinking I could go out and chop wood ride motorcycle do things I used to do but I've done destroyed my neck and back again and it's he.l and nobody meaning the doctors give e a shit so be careful

I greatly appreciate your video as it appears I will need surgery soon. Could you produce a video with SPECIFIC exercises/movements we can do? The more I learn about spinal surgery the more I wonder why ANYONE would agree to spinal surgery as one is basically GUARANTEED the surgery will most certainly fail sooner or later. The "recovery" time for EACH surgery is both excruciating and could go as long as SIX MONTHS. That alone is a reason NOT to let anyone open your back.

I have a 25 year old L4 to T5 Harrington rod fusion and awaiting revision surgery now. ASD DDD and scoli have all but destroyed my life. And now I have to be opened up from the front so they can install spacer cages then opened up from the back and fused down to my sacrum and possibly into my pelvis. I don’t think this could have been avoided. I’m so afraid for what is to come after a lifetime of worsening pain.

Does mild weight lifting exercises (with right posture as you said) can contribute to cause ASD ?

DO NOT F AROUND WITH A BROKEN SPINE . YOU DO NOT WANT MORE SURGERIES FOR THE SAKE OF LIFTING WEIGHTS
