Ah, now then! I fish the very start of the Mersey, where the Goyt and Tame merge and it's an incredible stretch .. about 200 yards, deep, slow and full of fish. Slabs, barbel, some great chub, the lot. The only difficult bit is gettin to it. I'll keep that to myself .. it ain't legal (ahem) and dangerous lol. Ain't they always the best places though . . You should get on the Warrington Ribble stretch mate, quality fishing. Usually quiet too as its a bloody killer to get to, so get some waders on and travel light!
Never fished it , done lots on upper irwell which was becoming very good until pollution! . Cormorants ain't helping . , on another point dose anyone fish upper ship canal surely some serious fish in there ! . Nice to see a vid on Northern river fishing, I presume Mersey has had pollution issues like all our nw rivers !.
