Mahomes is a problem for all 31 teams including us. Our D was locking him down when Greenlaw was in. That's when the momentum shifted. It will be hard to get back but Brock gives us a great chance. Our DT lack of pressure is an issue. If we could get Vita Vea or someone who can collapse the middle it would help tremendously. I thought Hargrave would be that but maybe he was hurt but yes, our D could be much better. It hurts to lose again to the same damn team but I wouldn't say our D is vastly overrated a bit but we can get back to form I believe. Our DC didn't help either. Excuses I know but we must look at them to have hope to fix the issue rather than just complain.
Yup exactly.. he was the bright spot on the team in the biggest game.. he was a big part of the reason they were winning most of the game... not that they lost.
He is elite at avoiding sacks, especially considering his offensive line (mostly on the right side) was made up of a spaghetti colander on passing downs.

I think 5 is a good spot for him based only on Burrow, Allen, and Lamar having done it over a longer term - but their positions are far from secure and Brock could pass them all to lock up that #2 ranking with a similar or better season to last year. Not really anything he could do to surpass Mahomes in just one season, but its far from a given that he will never do it. Stroud seemingly gets the opposite of the Brock Purdy treatment. Everyone wants to put too much stock into his one season (nobody needs to "see more before..."), and everyone wants to give him all the credit. I think at this point Stroud's being ranked a little too high because I personally "need to see more." though I think he's a good QB with potential.
You bringing up Stroud and how people act for him is the exact reason many people say draft bias. Because 1 is a first round pick and the other was the last pick in the draft. Because everyone misjudged him in the draft process they refuse to believe they were wrong about where he should’ve been drafted. I said he was the best QB in his draft class. Also Lawrence and Purdy started the same year in college and I told people Purdy would do better in the NFL than Lawrence but people didn’t believe me.

Mahomes has Andy Reid , Travis Kelsey, a great defense, etc. but doesn’t have to take that kind of heat. I think a lot of people were wrong about Purdy and simply don’t want to admit it.
You forgot his ELITE accuracy…how many of us (who watch the tape) have seen him drop absolute dimes on Aiyuk or Kittle…often out of a dirty pocket? This kid is #2 and coming up fast on #1
If I could draft any quarterback in the league I’d take Brock Purdy because I think he reads defenses faster than anyone in the league. He’s the fastest split ten at 1.54 seconds and the most accurate dead ball.
There's a very good reason he was the last pick in the draft. He has a good team around him...that's it. That's what gives him the numbers he has. Moving on

Jackson is not elite he’s just propped up by the media bc of certain appearance related characteristics. Brock Purdy did everything Joe burrow did, except in less time….josh Allen hasn’t done anything really…he’s propped up bc he’s a typical physical specimen. No Purdy is not at 5 he’s at 2 and I believe he’s even better than mahommes, he played better than him at the Super Bowl statistically, and mahommes is a chubby brat that cries all the time.

Scored a TD with 13 Seconds left and because of the OT rule he never touches the ball again. Is that his fault? JA17 vs Chiefs 2023 Playoffs: Buffalo scored 24, 258 Total Yards, 67.7% Completion, 3 Total TDs and 0 Turnovers. I would not put Brock ahead of Josh Allen....Yet. And I believe one more season like last season with games where Purdy has to grind out tough wins like he did against the lions and packers. Then we can put him in the elite QB club. He is very close as it is. And he hasn't even reached his prime peak yet!....That should worry all the other teams..
I would be more surprised if he ended his career ranked 10th or worse than 5th or better in comparison than the other QBs he'll compete with this year, but i can't confidently say hes #2 right now. I think he just needs a bit more time to prove himself. I think he's rightly in the #2-5 conversation tho. Rogers, Stroud, Williams, and one or two other qbs might be making that a crowded area this year, though. Time will tell

It goes all the way back to school yard sports. when picking players for a team and getting picked last means that you're not good enough because no one wanted you. The only reason this has ever been a conversation is because Brock is changing how scouts need to look at talent. Brock didn't come from a Top 10 school and guys that are picked higher up (Specifically In the first round) have proven to either not be ready for the big game and need more time to process or just can't cut it, get opportunity after opportunity with other teams and they just say guys like Brock who have fought their entire career to get a chance are nothing without the system they "Fell" into. It's so sad that this is all just for a bump in ratings.
Simply ask yourself this: if the entire league was redrafted, and you're a GM with the #2 pick, assuming Mahomes is #1 obvi, would you take Purdy #2? You darn well know the answer to that question so no, he absolutely is NOT the 2nd best QB in the league. Period, not debateable
Thank you for calling out the entertainment clowns. However, I keep waiting for someone to have the gonads to actually say Purdy was THE BEST QB in the NFL Las season. The numbers and the tape don’t lie. I’m not talking about physical talent or career numbers bc he hasn’t played long enough to have his career compared to any of the other those clowns mentioned unless you’re talking about playoff wins. That’s kind of important. You’re almost there. Everybody stop being afraid to say that Purdy, overall across the entirety of the 2023 season, except the SB outcome, was the best QB. Could he have won the SB for the 49ers? Absolutely. He’s got room for improvement. He should have hit Deebo in the end zone and he still could have hit JJ for the TD on the blown pass pro and he had Kittle open in the flat on that same play. However, he had help letting it slip away: McCaffrey fumble, muffed punt, Greenlaw Achilles, and of course the Chiefs Oline being allowed to blatantly tackle defensive players and no holding calls.
I'd take Brock over mahomes. Pat is like Brady(who i love).. gets help from refs. Mahomes line is habitually holding, and 90% of his interceptions are called back. I'm sure my opinion is terrible.. but oh well
Considering his youth at that start of 2023 and his relative lack of arm-strength he had a hell of a 2023. He was the best all around passing QB. Not a thing he doesnt do well. I'd have had no problems with Burrow or Allen being ahead of him. But based on the 2023 season, the CBS ranking is correct
The only franchise QB in the SB was Mahomes not Brock. He had his shot (multiple times) and couldn't do it. Had a few shots over threw it (ghosts of jimmy). Couldn't beat man coverage (lets see if that gets better) and had a pretty average playoff run (putting it lightly) on the otheraide Mahomes literally put the team in his back with back up WRs and won the damn thing. Brock is a very good qb and will help the 9ers but he is NOT a franchise QB whatsoever. Hes the point guard asked to make the right read, not asked to put the team on his back.

My Joe Schmoe I am nobody ok, I know QB rankings: (being as conservative on Brock as I could be) 1. Mahomes - A league of his own Established now and for the future: 2. Burrow (health may be an issue) 3. Allen (needs to return to smarter choices though) Established and on their way out: 4. Rodgers (assuming health) 5. Stafford The future: 6. CJ Stroud (could be a lot higher after this year) 7. Purdy (only a Superbowl win will have people give him some respect who aren't Niner fans or are very objective) 9. Love (could also make a leap imho) The most athletic but not the best as a pure passer compared to the above 10. Jackson Below this I think some could argue to add Herbert and Lawrence but the teams they are on may continue to halt their full development. Harbaugh may change that for Herbert though. After that is the rest and that's where I'd put Dak, Jalen, Tua, Kirk, Deshaun, and Kyler (~11 to 20) are all in that range to me, legit starters but not too much beyond that all with some electric moments. I think how one prepares and comes in mentally can change year to year along with some luck in terms of health and any off field decisions/behaviors can make this fluid. I want my bias to put Purdy above Stafford but Stafford's achieved more to this point but Purdy is 7 for me and climbing. He is controlling what he can at a high level better than most of his peers but I am well aware the Niners are stacked but his value in terms of annual cost goes into that as a factor if you think about it. I think I'm being pretty objective here. He clearly has the lowest pedigree or physical talent of the bunch but again I refer to the Drew Brees comp with better mobility. Perhaps with all the hypotheticals in the world people want to run, some believe their QB would do better than Brock on my Niners but we'll never know so it's a moot point. As it stands balancing past achievement and future outlook, this is how I see it as of today. Brock is a top 10 QB. Top 5 and conservatively based on all stated above he is number 7 at the lowest imho. I'll also take the number 2 ranking from CBS for now but wanted to put a more conservative perspective out there. He's number 1 in my heart as he's a Niner. GO NINERS!!!

Stafford had zero playoff success before McVeigh and is in decline, Allen clearly doesn't have it upstairs and probably never will. The only one I'll grant you over Purdy is Burrow. But that is close, and Burrow would get hurt even faster behind our O line than he does in CInci.
