This is my first year not going back. Yep, retired in June after 31 years! Normally, I would appreciate the humor, but not laugh. This time, I have a great big smile on my face! Sorry teachers, I feel your pain! This was a great video!!
Here are the moments I cracked up … when he said 8 years … when he still calls them scholars and when the principal said alternative education program 😂Lmao
Man, this speaks volumes! I am a recent retiree, high school Science for 30 years. You guys have nailed it, I rarely felt “rested” after the summer break, yeah I could have used another 2 months I guess. I still have occasional “school” dreams that sometimes border on nightmares, wonder how long this experience will last…
Exactly how I spent my summer, taking care of me. Last year was mentally draining. Don't think I've recovered yet. Somehow theres a small part of me excited for a new year.
"Dont worry, your class is on my priority list to fix" -AP ... I just checked and it went up to 41 lol 😭 😭 😭 😭 On the bright side, 12 of those are mine from the past and are seniors, so I have some built in helpers.
My heart cries out for you. This is my 3rd year retired and I can still feel your pain. As cavalier as it may sound, i truly mean it when I say "Keep ya head up and I pray you have a great year."
Great video. Funny… but…. Hang in there teachers! TRY and remember why you do it… through all the mess! The kids need good teachers now more than ever. 😢❤
Thank goodness this never happened to me. But we now have strict guidelines in BC 🇨🇦 about class composition and size, tho' it took 10 years and we had to go all the way to the Supreme Court of 🇨🇦. This fight cost the taxpayers a lot of money, as the teachers won at every step of the way to the Supreme Court, because the BC Government, at the time, just would not yield to the lesser courts' verdicts.
At least you have a Supreme Court that’s not corrupt. Some MAGA A-H want to eliminate the board of education. The attack on public education is real in the US. 💙🇺🇸🌊
This job is my biggest mistake…it has ruined my life. I’m too young to retire and too broke to resign so I’m between a rock and a hard place. I love most of the kids and parents..perhaps a few colleagues but the bullying principle I can’t stomach🤮
We go back in about 3 weeks; I’m not ready. I’m also concerned as to whether or not we’ll have a teacher on the first day in the Resource Room (I’m a Paraeducator). Haven’t heard anything yet. 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
Do i tell him the truth? That i spent the majority of it mentally and physically recovering from last year? This is me. I was always so exhausted that i just started to feel normal again about mid-august...just in time to turn around and go back again. But i always thought i was the only one going through that.
The new students + no desks is so real. I teach science and my room has lab benches. The room can properly seat 24 students. At one point I’ve had 29 stuck in there. I had to find (on my own) a bunch of extra desks and chairs on the day school started so that they wouldn’t have to sit on the floor. When admin admits new students they often target the lowest grade (for us it’s 9th grade). So that grade tends to have way too many people in anticipation of attrition. They don’t think about where the kids will actually sit - the lunchroom cannot hold our 9th grade student body. Our auditorium cannot hold our 9th grade student body. In the name of money, much will be sacrificed.
If you think it’s easy find a local school and volunteer. You will be done after an hour. Teachers do work full time year round. Summer school, professional development, and whatever pet project the principle dreams up that we will be required to assist with. We start tomorrow.
@@dollymaddison2388I’ve been a probation officer for 26 years. 10 of it as a high risk caseload specialist. Most consecutive time off I’ve ever had in 26 years was 2 weeks. I can do your job sleepwalking. I suspect there are other professions even more taxing than mine. By far. And to get summers off? Like a dream come true. If you had a caseload of 60 felons that on the precipice of committing violent crimes in the community, I suspect you might fold quickly.
