When I was in school 60’s and 70’s. We didn’t have Calculators, Computers, Markers, Back Packs, Ball Point Pens, Air Conditioning, a bunch of stuff that Kids now days have for school. My Grandchildren Love to hear how things were back then. We had School Bags, pencils, fountain pens, Paste, paper folders, crayons, dictionaries, cigar boxes, wood rulers. At home we had ENCYCLOPEDIAS, or we went to the Library and Checked out books. Loose leaf paper is what we used. My Grandchildren have iPads, and cell phones in school. Things sure are different.
I’m old school as well. Nope,we didn’t have to provide the chalk back in the day. Not sure of your age but when I was in elementary we had paste instead of glue.
I was showing my grandma all my supplies for school, when I got to my pencil box I showed her all it’s fancy features and stuff. Then she said “ geez I remember using an old cigarette box for school supply boxes not this with all the bright colors and handy dandy compartments” I don’t mean to copy you but every year that’s what my grandma says lol
When I was in High School it was ugly green chalk boards and yellow chalk. Elementary School was old school black boards and white chalk. Not to mention manual typewriters to do a book report on and actual books from the library ahhh the good ole days! And yes our pencils had to be stamped #2. ^_^
America : every stationary item you could ever need in one store England : go to several different stores to find a certain item at a good price. Any other brits who can relate?
Me and my dad were talking about cardboard boxes that they used as pencil boxes. Like how people used Cigar and Cigarette boxes for them none of the things we use today
Totally remember using the chalkboard and chalk, the cardboard pencil boxes, and always crayons, never got markers, and idk if colored pencils were even invented back then! Lol
I haven’t gotten my back to school list and I’ve already written down what I mostly need but When I do get the list it’s probably going to have *waaaaaayyy* more stuff on it 🤪😂

I really want to go back to school shopping now but I just had 1 week of summer vacation so far 😂😂 all I know is, most of the prices are going to go uuuuupppppp!

keto11 The only thing that can be done without a calculator is all the simple maths. Like addition, subtraction and dividing. All the rest is too complex and needs a calculator. My whole class uses it every lesson. It's a live saver for us.
keto11 No I cannot find the sin, cos and tan inverses of a degree, I have know clue what the hell you are taking about. I don't know who you are, but you can keep your own opinions to yourself. You have obviously been taught something totally different to me in schooling. Different countires different learning and teaching. Who cares if our class uses calculators. Our teachers obviously want us to in order to understand both the theory side and all the formulas needed in order to answer questions. Secondly I have never even heard of Taylor polynomials or Maclaurin polynomials and haven't even used a graphing calculator. And no I do NOT use a calculator just for convineicne, it's just how everyone where I live have been taught to do maths!!
keto11 Well for your information I am in grade 12 and am graduating in 4 months time. I DO NOT plan on using such useful maths in my life especially trigonometry, unless I wanted to be a builder or something more complex. I have struggled with maths in my lower years up to grade 7 which was really hard for me, then I started to understand it a bit easier once I was in grade 8, so knowing what I know now is pretty impressive. Anyway what grade are you in at school? (Thanks for the site)
Teal Marshmellow it’s basically a large tablet type thing that’s connectes to the internet , you can do tons of things on it including writing , I’ve always been a white board person though
Why they such a big pack of plastic mechanical pencils? isn't it easier and cheaper to just buy one or like for every kid one and the just get the lead?
I guess, but we mostly use pens or regular wooden pencils and if I remember correctly most people have just one or two and when they lost them they bought a new one in stationery store :)
