I’m a middle school math teacher. I’ll take ALL the gifts! Homemade cookies? Picture on my phone and in my belly. Gift card? Excitedly shown to my husband. Origami flower the kid made during a different class instead of doing his assignment? That’s going on display for the next four months to a year.

(Middle School 6th ELA) We were doing snowman paragraph plans and my student drew a literal snowman but it was so creepy and neat. I put it up on my desk. Overall, depends on the teacher but we appreciate most things people give us

As a teacher, I’m happy to receive any gifts. I have celiac and can’t eat cookies, but when I get stuff I can’t eat, I love to share it. I also think it’s sweet that a family might have baked together to make something for others. With that being said. We spend a lot of our own money, so gift cards are amazing.

Alexandra De Martini our teachers send out little “cheat sheets” where they tell us allergies and places / things they love etc. I can totally understand allergies! My SIL is a teacher and she has a million allergies and can’t enjoy the lotions and things people bring her either! ♥️🎉

Not in Dade County or Broward. Don’t know about Palm Beach. We here in South Florida have the highest numbers, but Hillsborough is fourth. There is simply no way of keeping six feet apart and kids will remove masks. I feel for the kids whose families work and are going back, and for teachers, staff and their families who had no choice but to go back.

From what I know the numbers are decreasing drastically. I think some public schools have made it all virtural for four weeks--our kids go to a private school. We did our research and feel comfortable with everything our Kids' school is doing. We also spoke extensively with our children about expectations. It's a trial of six weeks and then we can change and go to virtual. Every family is choosing what is best for their family. We've also done research about kids and the virus, statistics etc; again we are doing what we think is best. -- the school had a very successful summer camp.

Avalina knows what ups with those flair pens!!! Love ‘em. Also, my hubs is a teacher and loves anything students give him. I helped him move classrooms this year and he hordes all the pictures, origami, etc. I tried to pitch a picture someone drew and he almost had a cow!

I just had an embarrassing dirty car moment yesterday at my son's school. Our first few week are online and they issued some type of iPad to all the kiddos yesterday via car drive up. Turns out the masked employee knew my son, even knew he was starting 1st grade. My car looked like a trash dump on the inside😣

In these times of chaos, at 54 years old, I can say my biggest concerns are for my children and grandchildren. You are slightly older than my oldest. I have 4 sons. I am proud to watch you acknowledge that you are becoming an adult. It is a pleasure to watch. As I watch my older boys settle down, my 3rd is going back to culinary school next week for 3 hands on classes that cannot be done online. I will be remote learning with my 13 year old. Not where I thought I would be now. I owned a deli/bakery for 8 years that didn't survive covid-19 once school, catering and business meetings stopped. I look at you and see a world of opportunity! I enjoy watching your progress as much as I do my boys. Keeping your kiddos in my thoughts and prayers as we start this school year. Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I am proud to be part of the party! You are a perfect example of a strong, productive woman!

So when I was a teacher, I loved alllll the teacher gifts. But, then I became a stay at home Mom and started being the gift giver. I realize now that I NEVER should have eaten any homemade goodies from a families house. I now know how family kitchens work, and I probably put my self in danger before, and my self not being a Mom was blissful ignorance!

I'm a toddler teacher at a childcare center and I love homemade gifts such as cookies or a card. Ive never gotten a gift I didn't like. We have a faculty favorite binder so, if parents want to get us something they can look their to see what we like and don't like. I wish teachers would do that.

My kid is homeschooling the first semester this year, and boy I'm so glad she is. They had a kid already test positive for Covid in the school system. They've only been going two days. Online starts next week amd we will get the lists then. Also, glad I'm not the only momma who let's my kids pick out their own school supplies.. I had a parent go off on me and said I spoiled my kids.

Seriously? That’s crazy! There are so few things that kids can control regarding school, so letting them pick out their supplies is such a small thing that makes them happy and maybe a little excited for school. All of our schools are remote until winter break. I’m glad and nervous 😬

So true about the pencils! The only brand I bought as a teacher. Also, I would totally eat your cookies, but it's true teachers don't like knickknack gifts. My PTO always just collected cash and distributed it evenly, so nice. Those paper mate pens are totally the best too 😂

I’m one of those teachers who would never eat homemade cookies or other sweet things given as a gift. 😬 I have a tree nut allergy and I never eat things that I can’t be 100% sure are safe...it’s not personal! I’m sure your cookies are delicious 😂😋

Haha came here to say this same thing! If it isn’t in a package or something, I don’t eat it. You just never know and we HAVE had instances where kids have put things in the goodies they bring so it’s just a little risky. Packaged cookies are fine though haha

My 5th grade daughter will be remote learning this year but I got her school supplies for fun make it fun for her! I’m going to have her work at the dining room table! I made a school supplies basket to have on the table with her binder, headphones and chrome book! I love once upon a child and have an appointment for Tuesday to drop stuff off to sell! I wish ours had a monthly present! I love hocus pocus! A family friend is making / selling expensive knot fleece blankets and she had a hocus pocus print so I said why not that will go out with the rest of Halloween in October!

My kids started distance learning this week. It is so much better then in the spring. The teachers are teaching from the classrooms, some from home, on a set schedule through google classroom/meets. I usually don’t decorate for fall until end of Sept. or early October.

Love that romper! Don't have school age kids so I went school shopping and will donate the goodies- glue for a quarter, all sizes of markers, new sharp scissors- all the things! So sweet of you to think of other students who may not have access to Amazon and specialty items that may not be readily available.

I'm not from the US, and am quite surprised at the amount of school supplies Americans seem to buy/need. I got a box of twelve coloured pencils day one of primary school and they lasted all the way thru the six years (and beyond). The prescribed black pencils, eraser, calculator and geometry stuff lasted all thru secondary school. The only things we bought each year were glue sticks, bblue and black pens (the cheapest kind), book wrapping paper and notepads. Ringed books lasted generally only one year cos they kept breaking in the backpack. But even a backpack lasted several years. We didn't purchase everything new each year. Is this mandatory in the US? What does one do with the leftover items from last year?

Im in Australia the kids have the School monogramed Back pack from K-6 then in High School 7-12 so 6/7yrs out of each back pack. The only replaced items are the ones you mentioned blue/red pens, glue stick and everything else supplied by the School scissors/crayons/markers etc. Im baffled by the amount of stuff on the booklist as well. It’s not mandatory to buy all new things every year but I think it’s just one of those fun things people like to do here. There’s huge displays of school supplies at a lot of stores so most people enjoy picking out cute new things...helps kids get excited for school. 😋 Usually kids use the same backpack for multiple years once they’re a little older and get a nicer one. Little kids tend to get the cheaper backpacks that need to be replaced every year.

Also different teachers in different grades require different brands and can be very picky so the supply list changes every year

I'm a older mother and is this giving teachers gifts on the first day a new trend growing up my mother would give a box of candy at Christmas and when my kids where in school I only gave Christmas however then they started with list teachers would make for themselves and it totally turned me off!!!!!

Graph paper is GREAT for kids doing vertical addition/subtraction/multiplication. Helps them keep the columns lined up :)

Usually, with book bags in my experience. When I spent a little more, they held up a bit better. The cheaper backpacks normally ripped fairly quickly for us. He had a red Swiss backpack that lasted him 3 years! My son is 20 now (last month) and in college. I miss school supply shopping. I had so much fun school shopping, he couldn’t care less. Lol.

Regular crayola markers are washable too and are only $0.97 for 10 and the “ultra-clean washable” are somewhere around $3 for 10. The ultra clean might wash out easier? Idk I’ve never tried them but I think it’s just a marketing scam. Same thing with the crayons.

Girl! Put those Fall decorations out! Put those Halloween decorations out! It’s your house. You make the rules😁 At my house, where I make the rules, I put out Halloween last night. This year has taken away our Disney trips and Halloween Horror Nights. Halloween makes me happy, so happy it is! I stayed up WAY past my bedtime to get it all pretty. Yes, I live in Florida too! Yes, it is 95 degrees outside. The fake cobwebs can billow in the air conditioning🤣

Wow time flies. It feels like u went through baby clothes like 5 weeks ago it definitely don't feel like 3 months. Walgreens had panderosa pencils for .99 Walmart has a 24 pk for 2.97. It hurts to pay full price when there not on sale. Ugh

You should find a white lunch box and then Tie dye It to match the pattern. Walmart sells little dye kids for like $3.98 (ca) obsessed with the pencils also!!!

Meredith is not huge. Ha ha she's adorable. She's the star of your YT channel. I don't have my house work done to decorate for fall yet. Usually spring clean then fall clean but have to settle for fall. To much going on in spring. Elderly mom had broke her hand, leg, and hip then later they said she also had broken bones in her back. Not to mention trying to home school. Love your haul. Can I get that in my size? No. Bars look good.
