I learned to fly on a 600 size nitro helicopter. After that phase I went to a 700 assembly. Bigger is always better because you can see what you are doing. The only reason smaller size platforms have become the new norm is cost.

Great concise video. I don't know if you had mentioned it on the video but its usually not recommended to ad dual rates or exponential to both the tx and ikon/brain fbl controller. Its more precise (provides greater resolution) if only the fbl controller is used for feel with the tx providing raw signals. Always great watching your videos.

Génial pour les débutants, mais peut-on faire de la petite 3D en style de vol "beginner" sur le brain2 ? En bref mettre l'helico sur le dos. Une petite vidéo sur le sauvetage serait vraiment sympa !!
@dimitrigaillot5033
@dimitrigaillot5033 10 месяцев назад

Yes, you can do soft 3-D, and set up one or beginner set up in the Brain/iKon 2. But just remember everything is extremely slow. But! You don’t want a 0-60-60-60-60 throttle curve in that mode or “normal mode. You would want a flat throttle curve so 60-60-60-60-60 for example. I am working on a rescue video as we speak. Should be out shortly.
@westhobbiesrc8051
@westhobbiesrc8051 10 месяцев назад
And you also need to make sure you have a linear pitch curve in all three models or any mode you plan to do 3D in.

Love this video and your channel. I’m flying a 230S learning the borentations on the Realflight. 4 flights on the Heli with no crashes.. I need a bigger 2nd Heli…. Was thinking the 330S or 470L…. Which one you recommend? Up for the challenge. I also run Nitro RCs.

@@Drumbone71 Thank you! I greatly appreciate it. I’m glad the channel is helpful. So it depends on if you want to build. Personally I would move past Blade helicopters and either get a Align TB40 or SAB RAW 420 comp,

What's your opinion on having normal use a linear curve for pitch like IU1 and IU2? The guys at my club suggested I always use full pitch up and down, and learn to fly it like that (mid stick 0 pitch)

Hello , I'm new to Helicopters . I have a 450 SE . My question is the top or large gear spins as it should but the smaller bottom gear witch is the main drive gear doesn't spin at all . Have I forgot part of the Radio commands?. Thanks , Bobby M.
@westhobbiesrc8051
@westhobbiesrc8051 2 месяца назад
Hello, is that with the motor running or is that just in general? If the one-way bearing is an upside down or it is bad, the main gear will not hold the shaft and spin the tail drive gear. Also make sure your motor is going in the right direction. If it’s running backwards that will also only spin the main gear and not the shaft and tail drive gear.

Hey Daniel, thank you very much! What a FBL are you running? Is everything in the tail free and smooth? I have a video on Tailwag if you have not already watched it. I’m running 38,36 and 30 for my tail gain with a iKon mini.

@danielschibig8014 10 месяцев назад
Hey Jeff thank you for your quick answer. I fly iKon 2 and the tail seems free and smooth, like in your tailwag-vid. It‘s scary in upright flight the tail hold, but suddenly in inverted flight the tail totally bail out……

Yes, you can, go to your servo travel and Go to pitch and adjust it positive or negative to your desired pitch numbers.

What is a good hover pitch in degrees? Is it supposed to be 0?
@westhobbiesrc8051
@westhobbiesrc8051 3 месяца назад
0 is mid stick, hovering will be anything around 4-6 degrees depending on the heli. Some helis a little more and some a little less.

Hi thank you for your videos! I’m trying to bind my dsmx (latest version), but does not bind. A receiver is necessary to bind? I cant bind directly with ikon? Thanks
@scottbuck9348
@scottbuck9348 8 месяцев назад
I’m more of a futaba guy, so I can’t directly answer your question but for my setups, Yes all of my helis need a corresponding receiver, and then a flybarless system(gyro) . I believe with specktrum you need a receiver as well as a satellite that hooks into the receiver. But I’m sure Jeff could answer your questions in more detail then myself!

People you do realize the transmitter he is using cost over $1000 dollars.The average modeler can't afford such a device. I am currently using a Spektrum NX8 and that set me back $500 dollars.
@westhobbiesrc8051
@westhobbiesrc8051 6 месяцев назад
It does not cost over a $1000 it’s under. It’s $900 to be exact. It’s a very well used radio in the hobby, I also have a NX8. A lot more people prefer spending the money one time and have a great radio for many many years.
