The thing about "Eastwood Ravine" is that it isn't just a joke when you think about it. One day out of nowhere, a stranger comes into town wearing ridiculous clothes, and ain't been in town five minutes before he insults Bufford Tannen to his face. Tannen almost hangs him, but the stranger is saved by the town blacksmith. Over the course of a week, the stranger and his blacksmith friend save a school teacher from falling into the ravine, the blacksmith is almost shot by Tannen but the stranger saves him by hurling a pie tin into his hand. Then, in a morning shoot-out, Tannen shoots the stranger square in the chest - the stranger stands back up, kicks the gun out of Tannen's hands, and lays him out into a manure cart. Finally, the stranger and the blacksmith try to steal a train, but the blacksmith bails out and the stranger rides the train to a glorious, explosive end in the bottom of the ravine. To the people of Hill Valley, Clint Eastwood is a folk hero. Like Billy the Kid and Butch Cassidy.

So if you didn't catch it, there are musician cameos in each film. In the beginning of part one when Marty's band is auditioning, the judge who says, "I'm afraid you guys are just too darn loud" was Huey Lewis of Huey Lewis and the News (they provided the songs "The Power of Love" and "Back In Time" for the soundtrack). Needles in parts 2 and 3 (future Marty's coworker in part 2 who he was video chatting with and who called him chicken and got him to use his card, getting him fired, and in part 3 the same character who tried to get Marty to race and called him chicken, he was the guy in the truck whose hair you commented on) was played by Flea, the bass player of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. 17:20 Not going to lie, I always get so relieved when Marty makes the decision on his own not to race Needles. I don't know if it makes anyone else tense, probably just me but... think about it. Doc and Jennifer were the only ones who knew about the accident. Marty never did. Jennifer, assuming it was all a dream, doesn't bring up the subject otherwise risk having Marty think she's crazy. She essentially forgets about it but then remembers when Marty remarks he would have hit the Rolls Royce. And then in 1885, Doc brings up the accident briefly while saying how Marty shouldn't lose his judgement every time he gets called a name. But he avoids sharing too much about the future and tries to implore to Marty that it's always best to make the choices that are what they believe to be right. Even with all that, Marty still is unaware of whatever accident he believes to be coming. To me, when he firmly decides on his own against the race is one of the most relieving moments ever.

The train sequence was mostly shot on location in Jamestown, CA on the Sierra Railroad and the Railtown 1897 State Historic Park. There were only a few shots that required optical special effects. Any shots with Marty, the DeLorean, and the Steam Engine all together were shot backwards, due to insurance in case the steam engine derailed. So Micheal J Fox had to act backwards. 3:56 There is absolutely no reason his paternal great-great-grandmother would look like his mother, but they just loved using that actress (and who could blame them?). The story line reason they came up with was the male McFlys are just attracted to women who look like Lea Thompson. 4:20 As you said the special effects have gotten better over time, I just noticed a glitch that made it into the final cut for the first time. And I've watched this countless times over the last 20 years or so. If you pause it at just the right time you can see the plate duplicated on the left side. Looks like it lasts about 8 frames or so. Now that you've watched all of these, it's worth a rewatch at some point as you notice a lot more foreshadowing and subtle details. So much thought went into the rules they created for time travel. A good example of this is with Clara. In the original history nobody was there to pick her up from the train station so she took the horse herself and died in the ravine. But when Doc went back the first time, he did meet her there so she did not die and lived with him for one week and would have died some time later (highly doubtful that she went off the cliff again). But in that brief timeline, Marty never saw what the ravine was named (my guess is it would still be Shonash Ravine). And then there is the timeline we are viewing in this movie. While Marty and Doc are talking in one part, you can see Clara waiting for Doc in the background. But since he didn't show, she met her original fate. Finally, since "Clint Eastwood" hijacked that train and went over the edge, it was named after him.

My son is 17, and Back To the Future is his favorite trilogy, so I think the power of those movies is that's it's untemporal, it will never seems old. That proves it's an absolute masterpiece.

All three of these films are classics. The cast was just spot-on and I could not imagine anyone other than Christopher Lloyd playing Doc and Michael J. Fox playing Marty McFly. I didn't see the first Back to the Future in the theater, but when it came to home video, I watched it so many times. So when Part 2 came out, I was 10 years old, and we went to the theater to see it! I remember once I saw the Delorean take off and leave a fire trail in the sky, we were in for a new adventure with characters I had become so familiar with! I was nervous and excited! You could buy the sunglasses they wear in the future at Pizza Hut! I had the triangle yellow/red ones, and the yellow circle ones that had a visor over the lenses like a baseball cap! Still might somewhere if I look hard enough! I also saw Back to the Future 3 in theaters. I remember loving how Doc went back to the past and had all the coolest stuff because he was an inventor from the future! I don't think there was any kind of merchandise like the Pizza Hut glasses for the 3rd film. I have seen these movies more than any other movie. They are the best trilogy of all time! Its amazing how well they still hold up. They are still so good! They are so good, a generation of people that weren't going to be alive for another 15 years still think they are amazing movies! It even makes up for the cheesy 2015 when Doc says at the end of the 3rd movie, Your futures aren't written yet, so make it a good one! I remember even back then realizing that meant 2015 wouldn't be exactly like the movie.

It was supposed to be one movie (you can find the script online), but the third act old west stuff was making it overstuffed so they split it off snd expanded it, and added the Biff car chase to Part II to give it more of an ending. In the game it's revealed that Doc's father was a successful judge and Doc inherited much of his wealth, including the mansion from him (it also gives a good explanation for how Doc was even able to get to the top of the courthouse to set up the cables for the lightning strike - since his father was a judge and he himself was an intern at the courthouse when he was 17/18, he'd likely have those keys lying around in the mansion). The comics show that Doc also was a Caltech professor in the 1940s and worked on the Manhattan Project, which is probably how he kept earning money. That news article from the end of the second film, "Emmett Brown Commended" implies he was also overall successful as a scientist, but that was in 1983. There's a good chance he was in a depressed rut by 1955, implied in his comment about "finally invent[ing] something that works".

The technology used to allow, for example, two characters played by Michael J. Fox (such as Seamus McFly and Marty McFly in this film) is called VistaGlide. Even back then they were trying to have adventurous camera-work and not just have a wall or something where the split would be, as even audiences back then would have seen right through that trick, according to an official book that I have read about the trilogy.

In the first movie at the end when the car flew at the end and it said to be continued...that was a gag from the writers. They had no idea how huge the movie would get and were kinda forced to make the sequel. Which turned out to be great. Plus the original actor that played George Mccfly was not in part 2 or 3 because him and his agent wanted more money. Makes me wonder how they would have used him if he stayed in the franchise.
