I just wanted to say that I work front of house at the opera house and its not that we don't care about dealing with people. It's usually only two members of staff in the auditorium per level and they can't to get to everyone, especially those in the middle of rows to stop them filming/taking pictures. It doesn't help when there is no announcement made by the production about no filming, while they are allowing it during the last song. Also like you said it was a Saturday and it creates other issues, usually alcohol fuelled, that we have to deal with as well as looking out for phones. It isn't a usual theatre audience and they often think its like a concert or cinema atmosphere. One thing I just wanted to add was that I found out that the production have asked us to not use our torches to grab the attention of people filming, which is bit unusual and makes it harder for us to address the issues.

I saw this show on Saturday 29th Feb. I was sat in the stalls and I do have to say the ushers there were all over people filming, more so than I have seen in any west end theatre. I was actually really impressed at how they kept coming back to stop different people,. I agree with the sound in the first half but I didn't realise it was still in previews so that makes me hopeful it will get fixed. BTW I absolutely loved the show, especially Hugh Coles who played George McFly. He was so funny. ps. yes it was the town hall clock that they were mentioning as that is on stage a lot, so yes, maybe keep that in mind when booking tickets.

My heart goes out to anybody involved with the show. I was due to see this tomorrow the 17th for both performances. But with the on going closure of shows due to the virus, the devistation for all theatres is immence. Especally to those people from abroad coming to see the amazing talented British performers in some amazing show.

I saw the show on Saturday 22nd Feb. Didn't see anyone filming until the very end with cast bows. BTTF is my fav film and I absolutely loved seeing it transform onto the stage. I did find with a couple of Olly's songs I struggled to hear what he was singing, but it show number 2 so they'll still be tweaking it. It's been casted extremely well... Doc, Marty and George. Who knew the Doc could sing?! 😂 I did have a different idea how they could of tweaked the story for the reason Marty jumps in the car and accidently ends up going back to 1955.... I'm really hoping to go to press night, only time will tell if anymore changes have been made!

Normally when i go to the theatre and this behavior is shown like clapping and cheering when people come on, i get very annoyed at them. However on this occasion i couldn't help but enjoy it. This was because it was evident how exited everyone was at seeing a major part of their childhood come to life. I was exited by how exited they were.

I absolutely adored the show having seen it twice already, but sadly have to agree, Manchester audiences often have very poor etiquette 😂

auditorium is huge but backstage is tiny. There is stuff everywhere hanging in the roof space until its needed. Luckily I was able (due to friends on the crew and band) go backstage.

I've been to the Opera house and the Palace Theatre in Manchester on a number of occasions and never had an experience like you two guys. We went twice to see Back to Future before the show was halted due to the Coronavirus which was a real shame because we would of gone again! The show was fabulous from stage design to the orchestra to the brilliant cast. If you like me love the film you won't be disappointed with the musical. The next opportunity we get we will be going again!

I'm so glad you brought up the theatre etiquette, and I agree that being considerate of others around isn't necessarily being respected. That said, I do resent the comment you made about ushers "not caring", I work at the Opera House, and I must assure you that our front of house team care very much, there are over 200 of us and, as I noticed you were up in the gallery, it isn't always easy to have a full view of all 500-odd patrons up there given that the entire level is on quite the incline. Rest assured that the front of house team are doing their absolute best to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable experience, and please don't blame a couple of oversights on the entire team.

Absolutely loveee your candid and honest reviews!!! Theatre etiquette is a major bug bear of mine. Soo frustrating when you want to get swept up in it and people ruin it!

I just bloody love you guys, especially Legger Simon’s rants about theatre etiquette! I live near Glasgow but very tempted to get the train to Manchester to see Back to the Future based on this review! Also, Oliver comes across as so genuine and down to earth. Loved this! Ceri :) x ps. Check out @scottishstages on insta for all my local theatre chat (and maybe a trip to Manchester!)

I would love to get daggers from legger Simon. But seriously, it’s becoming more and more of an issue with the more popular shows. I can’t wait to see this one!

What??? Would you not go back to the past? I'd love to see myself as a wee boy, my young parents... Oh and my grandma... That'd be amazing! Not to mention being able to see Madonna perform for a reasonable price!
