Since I was running ahead of schedule to cross the Atlantic, I take a trip back to my workshop. I try out some new tools and make some things to bring back to pickled herring. I visit the Annapolis boat show and dream about a bigger boat one day.

I helped my mom set up a shipping container on some rural land for her stuff that was in storage and I think it’s just about paid for itself now.

i would vote you for best sailing channel for sure. Sorry to miss you at the boat show. We went only on Friday. I have never sailed a big cat, only a Hobie. Can you single hand a big cat? Can you heave to a cat? I'm thinking of how you heave to in Pickle when needed

Yeah you can heave-to most boats. I think single handing should also not be a problem for me but I plant sail it mainly with my girlfriend.

@@OMIF1 So did Parley, (sailing channel on YT) spent a year and a half doing glass work then found a cracked bulkhead, you have to be very careful if not outright avoid that junk, and he paid $157k and still had to do all that work, not sure if Sam has that kind of dough but they can sink you.

maybe half a million, but he complains about the price at just about every marina for his 28 foot monohull, and complains about the price for every part he has to buy for it. best of luck, but I don't think he's even the type of person those boats are made for.

Tri or Cat the obvious way to go. With the reoccurrence of hurricanes in your area there must be numerous opportunities to buy cheap damaged cats? Probably the quickest way to get back on to the water in a boat you can afford. Failing a fairy godfather gift. Building your own takes too long.

A sailing channel is more about just sailing (and maybe racing since you have to be an excellent sailor to do well racing). Your channel is probably lumped into the category of cruising. Most of the cruisers barely sail for sailing's sake at all. They strictly sail to go from point "A" to point "B". Many of them admit that. When they arrive at the destination they anchor and from then on until they set sail again they use their dinghy to get around. Maybe that is why they picked who they did for the "best sailing channel".
