Brook Trout are some of the most beautiful fish you can catch, and fly fishing for native Southern Appalachian Brook Trout in Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a great way to experience them in their natural habitat. This video highlights a backpacking overnighter into the Upper Ravens Fork watershed for some backcountry fly fishing.

I did a small day trip like this near Goshen Pass in late November. Even though the fish are small it was an amazing experience. Every fish was beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for posting this. You're making me homesick for the Smokies. I caught my first Brookie on a fly I tied on Lynn Camp Prong. I don't know a better feeling than taking a native Brookie on a fly you tied.

Excellent video!! I haven't gone fly fishing in years, in the past, I have only gone day hiking to find a fishy looking creek or stream, and since moving to East Tennessee, have decided to get into backpacking fly fishing. Your video was PERFECT for me, because it answered a lot of my questions concerning pack size, and gear / shelter selection and load out. Last, you are an excellent videographer, and a natural story teller. Your underwater release shots were fantastic, and including your camera setup was very helpful as well. Thank-you...

Great video and thank you for the explanation of all your gear! I've fished that location. Beautiful. My son and I encountered a momma bear and cubs on our last hike to that spot. That got our adrenalin going and we double timed it up over the ridge.

I am surprised that the fish were not spooked easily. I've fly fish the small streams in the Rockies and Southwest were you have hide or come in low to the streams or you scare the fish off, or you see the fish zip away from you.

I have my back country fishing/travel set up and it takes a while to get things as you like them, I like seeing how others do it too. Im sure we are all within a few dollars of each other and if you threw everything on the scale we all probably weigh out the same. Im going to hit the subscribe button so keep up the good work!!

@01dixieforever01
@01dixieforever01 6 лет назад
idk he was making some long casts that tenkara couldn't get to... and if you noticed that his rod was short... tenkara rod would be a little long for this river... better off just to buy a fly rod and reel
@capnhowdy3406
@capnhowdy3406 5 лет назад
I fish small streams in and around the smokies and cohuttas and agree with the short fly rod instead of a tenkara. I thought the tenkara would be great but it really is difficult because of how tight it is. Rolling cast and flipping are your best friends here! Lol

If you have time, check out my videos - I've only made a few, but it will give you an idea of how I fish...feedback is appreciated since I'm new to fishing. Anyway, thanks for sharing. -Holly
