Hi. In this video I’ll show you how I make my LED backlit shadowbox with a mirror I engraved with my Makeblock Xtool D1. If you want to see how I engraved the mirror. Check out my previous video.
Parts in this video
Shadowbox - Walmart $14
Led lights - 5below $5 (for better results, stronger lights are recommended).
Mirrored tile - Lowes $26 for 6
5.2 volt USB adapter - from my old iPhone. These can be bought from any store.
Optional: aluminum foil sheet
Clear Tape

If you don't want to deal with the aluminum foil, I bet mylar would work really well. Great tutorial!

Thanks for the video. Excellent idea. It came out looking great! Notes (not criticisms): I would engrave the lion image so that it takes up the entire surface of the mirror. For the tin foil. I would use a glue stick, or a spray adhesive rather than tape. Use a J-roller to get it firmly stuck to the surface with as little wrinkles as possible. That's just my OCD...

I bought one, did it. I love it. I'm making my boss man 2 for the office. You can get a USB extension cord for about $5 on Amazon. Tuck the connection behind the cardboard and you won't be able to tell.

Great walk through. I gave it a go along with your mirror video. It works very well, so thank you for your ideas. I used an image of my mothers dog that recently died, and she was really pleased with it. I had to mess around with the lighting, as you mentioned. I found my lighting to be a bit brighter in some areas than others, and other dark spots. I took my foil and scrunched it into a ball, then straightened it out again (not to much though, I kept the scrunch appearance of the foil) and re-fixed it. It came out way, better than the first try, diffusing the light around the box. Great video, please keep up your videos, I've subscribed. Many thanks from Sydney, Australia. 👍

You can get them from Amazon or Michaels. Some are a lot easier to use than the one I got

@@wkduff it's called a 12x12 shadow box. You have to make sure it will hold a 12x13 mirror or whatever size mirror you want to use. Here's one on Amazon. a.co/d/feG1z54

@@laserrookie The mirror that you suggested from Amazon does not have that plastic backing that holds the mirror in place. A plastic backing is what I'm looking for

Tried to put the screws back in but the mirror was in the way I had to hot glue it in

Sorry to hear that. Your mirror might have been a bit bigger or the light box a bit smaller. They have better light boxes out there than the one I used. Those make things a bit easier.
