Michael, my hat's off to you. You may have saved that man's life.

Not sure how the story might have ended ? I do know he was considering building a pile of leaf litter , and nesting inside it . He might have made it through the night ( he had a dog to help keep him warm) but I think it would’ve been a miserable night.

This was great in so many ways! You really captured the trail and all it's beauty along the way. Then the unfortunate paddler. Kudos to you, bro for assisting him from heading into bad times 🤜🤛

Thanks. This was one of the most spectacular trips I’ve been on in a while. And at the end of the day .... it’s the only trip that has ever really mattered. Thanks for the comments.

Nice one, Michael! Hope my home State treated you well - that view from the Goat Trail is hard to beat. You’re a good man for helping Curtis out! ✌🏼

Thanks for watching. An Arkansas family picked me up to shave off a few miles on my hike out to the truck. So yes.... the few Arkies that I met treated me well !

You must have been an answer to prayer for the canoeist. Glad it all worked out. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for watching ! The trees looked like they had a rough time growing there on that bluff. It’s a great place .

Great video man. I really appreciate the effort you put into this video. I am doing a similar trip in a couple weeks and this was very helpful. Only thing I can’t do is sleep on the ground like that without some mesh. Every time I camp in that area I end up with at least a few ticks and I don’t want them getting me while I sleep.
@michaelpetersonbackpacking6077
If the river is high I wouldn’t recommend taking the river trail towards Kyle’s Landing. It had one crossing that was VERY deep and fast running. had to be hauled across by a guy w a canoe. As for ticks….I have some of my gear and cloths treated w permethrin. I don’t know if it really works…. But I usually never see any ticks?? Thanks for watching!! Hope your trip is a good one !

Thanks! This place should actually be on a lot people’s “to do” list. Even if it’s just a day hike. A lot to see there.

Holy crap dude you saw some awesome stuff on this one all while wearing a stylish hat lol. This looked epic honestly. Good on you for helping all those folks.

Yes this is definitely a place that is overlooked by most people, but well worth the time. Thanks for the comments. I think I only did what any decent person would do in the same situation.

Brother, bravo. Truly you may have saved that man. I know it pretty much wrecked your trip, but I’m glad you did what you did.

Hey thanks. “My” trip wasn’t what I’d expected. Didn’t expect to make a new friend. Didn’t expect to learn so much about myself. So much of all our lives we are so “me me me “ , it’s an interesting feeling when you can care about someone else like that . Thanks for the comment!

When we finally got Curtis to his vehicle , and everything was alright, I realized that I might have been the lucky one. I learned a lot about myself. Gods way of doing things”putting others needs before your own” is hard! And selfishly for a little while I thought to myself “ this is ruining my trip”. And now.... I realize it’s probably the only trip I’ve been on that has really mattered. Thanks for commenting.

@@michaelpetersonbackpacking6077 God has a way of doing that don't He. Always learning how to be a better person. And thankful for when he puts me in my place because I'll learn the most from there. Can't wait to see the video.

There is another very tall falls just a few hundred yards from Hemmed Hollow that's got an easy trail. Diamond falls. It's literally five minutes from where you were. But most people don't know about it.

I’ll have to search for it, if I find myself there again. If I remember correctly, the falls can be dry for a large part of the summer? I was happy to see that there was a little bit of water flowing. Thanks for watching and commenting !
