STOVELESS backpacking food that I took on a 3 night, 4 day AT Section Hike of 40 miles. I'm always looking for NEW foods take with me on the trail. Just sharing in case anyone else maybe be looking for the same thing.
What's your go to hiking food? Would love to hear from you! Let me know in the comments to help other hikers, escape the boredom on the same old boring food.
UPDATE - LOVED the Noka smoothies, they were hydrating in the heat and tasted great. The Liquid IV was good too. But I DID NOT like that BOBO's banana peanut butter bar. It was really dry and tough to get down. I did have like 4-5 things left over after my hike that I didn't eat, but I'd rather have a little too much than not enough.

Loved all of this- I've only been hiking a few times; just day hikes. Some things that I would take, since I'm GF, have a chronic illness that requires extra salt and diabetic: rice cakes instead of bagels with peanut butter and a mix of chia/flax seeds on top, a seed and nut mix to snack on- rather than dried fruit- loads of vitamins and protein {Though you did awesome in those areas as it was}, seaweed snacks weight almost nothing but taste amazing with tuna/ chicken pouches. Popcorn is another amazing snack- I brought it on one hike when I was substitute teaching- just a gallon bag of stove-popped popcorn with a little salt shaken onto it and myself and my students gobbled it up in no time. I love the pouch idea; sometimes textures bother me, including applesauce, so I'd only bring one, and it'd have to be low in sugar as well, but an awesome idea for fruit/ more vitamins. I adore the Chomps sticks as well- they have a venison one at my Wal-Mart now and I can't wait to try it. I also adore black olives, Quinn's PB filled pretzel bites, Think protein bars and Kind Zero bars, which are new, but I've always loved Kind bars, and they have breakfast ones that are softer too- made with oats.

I have dietary restrictions myself as I have a tree nut allergy and I have to eat low fat since having my gall bladder removed. It’s always nice to get some news food ideas. Thanks a bunch for stopping by the channel.

Instead of that smoothie, I bring a protein shake mix (60g Protein). Basic mix is 2 scoops of Vanilla Protein Powder, 1 scoop NIDO, 4 Stevia packets, and 16 OZ water. Can add stuff to change the flavor profile, like adding 1 heaping TBSP Cocoa, Cinnamon powder, Peanut Butter powder, or Instant Coffee.

Yes, a good protein shake works so good on trail. I have taken several different types thought out the years. I love it as another way to get more vitamins and nutrients in your system. Thanks for stopping by the channel Mike N. ~RVA~

I like that you have fruits and veggies! I’m new to backpacking, but I see most don’t seem to bring a lot of fruits and veggies.

Jessy Skehan thank you! Those 2 fruit/veggie smoothies were amazingly good and hydrating on a hot day! I really tried to focus on more healthy foods this trip even though I did take a small bag of candy which I totally ate doing some tough climbs!

RVA Hiker Girl Well, Candy is necessary too. LOL 😆 I like those pouches too. I get organic blends of fruits and veggies.

They have freeze dried everything these days. It makes creating backpacking meals less time consuming, BUT more pricy. ~RVA~

Baby food! I have walked by that isle 1000 times and thought that would be good backpacking food.

Bananas are the bomb! Taste good, great to prevent muscle cramps, and for energy out there! Pouches can get heavy, but such a great way to get fruit in your system on trail!

Hey! Great and different food options I haven't seen. Also, I have often wondered about the carnation drinks. Do you put them in a plastic bottle? If so, how do you get the bottles clean for multiple day uses?
@RVAHikerGirl
@RVAHikerGirl 4 года назад
Thank you! I hope it helped! So I put my TJ coffee and carnation in my Life Water bottle and just shook it up. (next time I will add 2 coffee packets to 1 carnation packet to feel a bit more caffeine push) If you have extra water you can just squirt some in from another water bottle and rise out. However as gross as it sounds, I was hiking in 103 heat index days and water was scarce. I did not waste any water I had to rinse out electrolytes or coffee. I just refilled the bottle with water. In a different situation where water was plentiful of course I would rinse out.
