A recent overnighter in the Hurricane Creek Wilderness Area in Southern Arkansas between Haw Creek Campground and Fairview Campground outside of Pelsor, AR. Great natural features like house sized boulders, emerald green creeks, and of course the natural bridge itself. Great trail that is well marked and in good shape (recent storm damage still remains in sections). This was my first time here and first time setting foot on any section of the OHT so wanted to make a quick "scouting" trip to plan for future visits.Awesome place! If your in the area don't miss it!

Hi Pete, I just finished a through hike of the OHT a few days ago. I am happy to have found your video. This is my favorite portion of the OHT, for reasons already clear to you. Thanks for taking the time to post this. I'm going to post a link to backpackingarkansas. Thanks again.

At 9:04, I believe the rock formation across is called Buzzard roost. It is an awesome place to visit and camp. It has a bunch of caves and tunnels. The top has turtle rocks. It has another bridge.

That was fun to watch. The coloring in the area is so beautiful, especially that water. Almost glacial in color. I'm amazed at the amount of grouth in the area, especially trees. They're everywhere. Wow. Thanks for a great 23 minutes.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed! The water color was unreal and the vegetation was thick... it would be like a jungle in the Summer!

Great video, Pete. Question: starting at the Big Piney Bridge and doing the hike as a loop, are there enough caves and overhangs that you could get by without a tent..? Thx, JP

There is a massive overhang near the natural bridge near Hurricane Creek that would be perfect. I did not notice any caves, but they are very likely there...I was just focused on the terrain near the trail. The only way to loop this hike would be to use the high water bypass trail as the loop, then end up back at BP Bridge. There is so much cool stuff (rocks, caves, creek, bluffs some perfect for cave-man'n it) on the other side (Eastern) of Hurricane creek. This trip I went from BP bridge to the campground at Fairview. Its an awesome place with lots to explore!

Hey, I enjoyed your video, reminds me of where I grew up as a kid! I am wondering if you have an idea of where a good place for a first time backpacker to do an overnighter would be. I would be doing it alone most likely, but I did grow up roaming the woods and camping, just never both at the same time! I would prefer to go somewhere with marked paths if possible. Any input you would have would be great and thanks!

Zackery Wade Hey Zackery, If you live in the NW Arkansas area...check out Buffalo National River, it has a great trail system that is well marked and totally awesome backpacking! Also: Hobbs State Park near War Eagle, (Pigeon Roost Trail)....Sylamore Trail (Eastern AR.)....Ozark Highlands Trail, (Near Hot Springs). My personal favorite in this area would be the Buffalo because of variety and scenery. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

What's the name of that tarp you're using? Did you say "the notch"? It looks perfect for what I need.
