I watched all 3 videos. Amazing stuff. Thank you for filming this and giving those of us who can't get out backpacking as often as we'd like something to watch and enjoy in between trips

Loved the video. Would have been helpful to show your route on a physical map. Planning on an overnighter in JT next spring. Coming from Phoenix…

Hey Bryan checkout the California riding and hiking trail in Joshua tree. That's the best way to see the park if you aren't familiar with this route in the video. He took routes that only people who've been to the park dozens of times take. You need to be extremely familiar in JTree backcountry otherwise you will get lost and risk dying. The California trail is easy to follow and goes deep into the heart of the backcountry

Do you need a permit or overnight pass to backpack? Or can you just park at any trailhead leave the car?

No permit required, but you need to register at one of the backcountry boards before departing. Also, be sure to research where backcountry camping is allowed, because some areas of the park are not open to camping (including some areas close to popular trailheads). www.nps.gov/jotr/planyourvisit/backpacking.htm
