WOW! That place is beautiful. Thank you for bringing us along with you. When you woke up in the middle of the night with the wind blowing like crazy, I thought, "Oh, No, not again. Bahahaha. Thank God you were able to move the tent to a better spot. I'm so loving your channel. Thank you, bunches. 🤗 HUGS 🤗
Chris !!!!! That was soooo awesome !!!! That’s one of the coolest spots you have been in a while, (IMO), I loved the columns where you stayed, so neat, when you showed them when you first got there it almost looked like a face in the rocks up towards the top of the columns, very cool , missed your big breakfast cook , enjoyed the video !!!
Hi Chris spend my free day off watching your wonderful videos, thank you for sharing your love for nature and hiking and all your hard work on your videos, take care, a fan of yours from the wirral UK.....
I was just reading about these Red Rock Formation, National Park. Then ran across ur video. I have been watching 2/3 of ur video's a day since I found ur channel. Thank u for sharing these amazing places, history, n stories.
Nice to see Red Rock again Chris. I used to go there when i was young. I worked for a family near there who moved to that area from Minnesota. When the tv show Bonanza was filming an episode there, they had trouble getting the horses under control, so they sent word up to the store for Mrs Means to come over to the canyon. She had a reputation as a horse whisperer, so she came and gentled the animals for them.
Wow, that's a pretty cool place you found. Strange how the weather just changed like that! But you stayed dry and warm, which is the real trick, isn't it. Well done, Sir. A most enjoyable watch, Thank You.
Chris I enjoy every bit of that show you did I thank you for the beautiful scenery and those hours you put out there just for a person like me to enjoy and I appreciate every second of it thank you very much God bless you Ralph Franco Albuquerque New Mexico👍👍🛸🌜🌲🌲🌲
I like your point of view! You're the only backpacker I've ever seen on video say anything positive about bear cannisters! It's quite refreshing to not hear the same old whining. Great scenery and beautiful music!
Hi Chris I enjoy your videos. I like the variety. Your a great story teller and make the videos fun and interesting. I am 83 so it’s a bit late to go camping. I remember spending one night in the mountains with my Mom It was beautiful but that was the extent of my camping. I always loved the mountains Thanks for sharing your adventures. ⛰ Blessings
Nice country! I hiked Red Rock Canyon park a few years ago. There is an awesome 8 mile loop there. Saw the wild burros and shared my trail mix with them. Keep hiking!!!
New subscriber here. So glad I found your channel. This is a fantastic video. I really like like this type of high desert country. Getting a little tired of the bushcraft videos in the boreal forrest and woodlands. There is something special about the desert that most people don’t take time to appreciate. Keep up the great work.
I have hiked in that area and I agree it is very beautiful! My comment and experience with the Mountain house food packets is that they taste good and convenient. I have found as I have aged that the high sodium content affects me negatively. Thanks for sharing your experience via video.-Ron
Great video Chris, I'm a big fan of westerns as well Big Country was made the year I was born. The oldies but goodies are always better than modern stuff today.
Red Rock Canyon State Park just off highway 14 south of Ridgecrest where i grew up in the 60's and 70's. Quite the alien landscape there and a lot of the old original Lost In Space television series was shot there as well as the even more alien looking Trona Pinnacles a little further north just south of Trona. I live in Missouri now and you've brought back a lot of old memories of childhood outings for me. Thanks
Section f of the pct is just above you to the west. Southern most part of the sierras. Water is at a premium but beautiful country and great backpacking
Yes- not much for any reliable water there...interesting to find that seep/ small spring there. I will remember that for future hikes there as a possible water source. Thanks for watching.
That was fun to hear about the movie that was shot there. "The big Country" is also in my top five westerns made. Night hiking with deep canyons sounds kind of scary, good thing for your head lamp. Beautiful place.
Stumble Upon the days you can video the moon from one direction? And you turn around, and, there is the sun !!!!!!! . .. . Yeah - THAT should not be Possible, in, our schoolbooks, Chris. . .. . Hahahahahha! .. ... xD
Great video! I was there last year with friends and might go this weekend. Funny that you had wind because we dealt with a ton of it as well. Beautiful land over there. Love your shooting style and story telling! That's why you were my very first shout in my first ever RU-vid video! Keep hiking!
Cool video! We have some pretty amazing deserts where I live in Tucson, Arizona 😊 I love following along with these beautiful views! Keep your content coming! I’m following!
Love the moon scene coming up over the hills that was very cool to see, and I do like those backpacking meals they work pretty good when I can't take a lot of perishable food out with me, the spaghetti meal is one of my favorites and the chili mac is another one for me and the chicken and rice I like pretty well and the biscuit and gravy with a fried egg in it is my favorite for breakfast, enjoyed the video was some beautiful scenery, Thanks
I do take some precautions... it is in the back of my mind. But with good maps/ lights/ good equipment and GPS to track and communicate it gives you some confidence to be out and enjoy.
Wonderful overnighter! Loved your camp kitchen, very cool spot. When you shined your light up the canyon walls I expected to see a set of eyes or two looking down at you. haha! Thanks for sharing. :) :)
Chris, I really enjoy your content and upbeat attitude. Have you ever given thought on a “how-to” series like cleaning your backpack, pots and pans while camping, etc
I loved that movie The big country..Kirk Douglas wow it was good, just watched it the other night. I was concerned about you meeting up with a snake in that cubby hole. Moon was real pretty
Awesome scenery. I do like those dehydrated meal and like to keep a couple just in case I wanna quick meal. It looks like you could have tried your new REI tent just to see how it wouldve held up to that wind.
Following from below, chris you showed aphoto of you in your younger days, just saying your son is a younger you, which is cool, take care from the UK....
Beautiful site. And great video. About the mre's. Yeah e love them but i try to save some money and go for the Knorr pastas or noodles. And yeah ofc spam.
So you’re free to put tent up anywhere you choose? wish we could do that in Australia, we are allowed to only in designated areas. By the way i don’t see you carrying much water in desert
I'm sorry, I know I leave comments that r probably unusual, but that's me. Around. @7:38 in the rock formation that's lit up by ur light, there looks to be a skull face illuminated. Quite creepy! Probably a good thing u couldn't see it.
Ricardo Campground isn't too bad a place to stay the night, of course I've only done it a couple of times back in the day and besides, we're only 20 minutes from Red Rock Canyon.
That's petrified wood. Giants cut down the giant trees. I choose to believe the Bible. What we think are mountains are stumps. Trees were thousands of feet tall.
I don’t like the main course meals that you cook in some kind of petro chemical poisonous pouch. I just don’t like the taste of them. I know they try to make them good but I prefer my cooking
