The last of the Mohicans....your little walk in the woods just puts into perspective what sort of men your pioneer forfathers were....who didn't have sat nav, pink socks or a truck at the end of their journey to take them to a beer & a burger. Tough as old boots I expect.
That was great, makes me want to get back into hiking/camping. Miss Boy Scouts. Want to find a small hike and camp for my young son to do overnight. Maybe pachaug? Any suggestions?
That sounds fun. Can't wait to take my kids, at least my son. Not sure my daughter would be into it. Haven't been to Pachaug. I like to go where 'dispersed camping' is allowed so I'm not limited to designated campsites. But I'd definitely do car camping for the first trip with the kids. Dunno what your son is up for but there's always Rocky Neck, which has a few tent sites, and a couple of short trails. That would be my speed if I was to take my kids today.
