A year and a half ago I planned a backpacking trip that ended disastrously. Dan had to be evacuated for a medical emergency and I had a court battle over a camping out of bounds infraction. We've each had pretty crazy years since that fateful trip. But it was finally time to get back out for another trip together. Dan flew to Colorado to go backpacking in one of my favorite mountain ranges, the San Juans.
