Lin is so proud of his claw skills. He literally brings it up every interview he gets asked about his talents. It's so typical Lin I think. No one else would share that or even think to bring it up, but he's just got such a wonderful childlike heart that it makes so much sense that first, he would be good at a claw machine and second, he would brag about it. This man is a treasure
But a hurricane came and devastation rained out man saw his future drip dripping down the drain put a pencil to temple connected to his brain and he wrote his first refrain a testament to his pain
Ha ha. Lin, an adult? You're not an adult. He's my little baby. Wait… what do you mean he's 36? No he's my baby. But also my father. That's were things get complicated…
+Molly Tittle Hey, I don't want to be 'that person' but Lin has expressed that he's very uncomfortable with people referring to him as their dad or son. In the future I'd refrain from doing that just out of consideration for him :)
Lin: Here are my props, but I'm not gonna touch them cause I don't wanna mess them up Lin 3 seconds later: Hold on let me take out this prop so you can see it
Lin: **looks nine years old** Lin: **shows a cabinet filled with gold fish crackers, chocolate, etc** Lin: "I broke that light with my head" Lin: "These aren't childhood toys or anything, I'm just really good at the claw machine at Dave and Busters." Lin: "I have my ps2 hooked up to my tv." ALSO Lin: "But I'm an adult, so it's okay." Me: "'Adult', suuuuuuuuuurrreeeeeee"
"It only dispenses $10 bills" Me: JUST YOU WAIIIIIIIIIIIT *dies* Edit: 4 months later I realize that's not even a fucking 10 dollar bill it's a 20 -_- Lin why
So, he was already writing Hamilton at this time. I wonder if he had written "the $10 founding father who got a lot farther working a lot harder by being a self starter". I may have got those in the wrong order. I just gotta wonder if that went through his mind around that ATM.
I don't think I've seen someone talk about how this is the same place, theater, dressing rooms, seating and stage that Hamilton's on! It's crazy. Through the whole tour I was pausing and picturing the Hamilton set in place. Amazing
I'm in a production of beauty and the beast and in my dressing room that I share with 5 other girls we have 6 bottles of different types of throat coat and cough drops and tea.
He was writing Hamilton for 6 years before it debuted and it debuted in 2015 so then he would have started it in 2009, so it's likely he was already working on it!
He's adorable. "This is my gift to the rest of the cast: my own bathroom." And him talking about being good at two things: writing musicals and the claw machine at Dave & Busters. xD! "It's not for kids; but I'm an adult so I'm allowed." ARE YOU SURE?! xD! The level of detail really is astounding. The headline on the newspaper, even!
As a huge Hamilton fan, but living in London, my family has tickets to the new West End production of this and i am. SO. EXCITED. (I mean, it's not Hamilton, and there's no LMM but like, it's probably the closest I'm ever gonna get :p )
Well tbh brits don't really have actual opinions on the revolution (like, do y'all think we're all grumpy that u guys are Free or something 'cause seriously we don't give a shit) but I guess I did have a different experience of Hamilton to what Americans might have. I think the biggest thing was not being certain which facts were cool new interesting things that no-one knew about and which were commonplace knowledge that you'd learn in school. Like, does everyone in America know who John Adams is? I'd literally never heard of him before :p Also it means that I can't talk about it with my friends or show off my new Obsessive Learning of Random Facts 'cause nobody actually knows what the hell I'm talking about. Oh yeah and I can't get excited by money cause the £10 note just has the queen or some shit :/
1:52 Things you need to have a fully operating salon (short of running water) according to Lin Manuel Miranda: - Some Ouidad products - Some magazines - A picture of Karen Olivo looking like she stepped right off the set of Designing Women from high school And you’re good to go!
So many moments in this made me laugh so hard! "Hi! I made that!" "This mirror I think makes me look fat....." "I'm really good at two things, writing music and the claw machine at 'Dave and Busters.'" And his little songs that he sings as he goes from one segment to another. I also love that he still rocks the PS2! This is such a beautifully entertaining I really enjoy Lin. He is fucking FUNNY!
