Here’s the original airing of the 60 Minutes episode Backstage at The Muppet Show from March 17, 1979 in higher quality. Usually uploads of this episode online are from the 1990 rebroadcast, which this is how the segment looked when it first aired on television and while the episode is the same as the 1990 broadcast, there was an original intro hosted by Morley Safer which was replaced with a new one by the same host in the 1990 reairing. Which this is the first time that the original intro has been seen by the public in over 45 years!
The episode itself showcases behind the scenes footage of The Muppet Show, Interviews of Jim Henson, Richard Hunt and Frank Oz, with Jerry Nelson, Dave Goelz and several Muppet characters. So enjoy this very rare piece of Muppets and Jim Henson history.
