Really, no offence to BSB's, but not one member have had a successful solo career. They are best as a band. Each NSYNC member have gone on to do different things professionally.
+BeastieGirlA but it really only was JT who got extremely popular. Yea the others are doing stuff but more behind the scenes. At least BSB can still come together and do concerts and support their fans as a band. I only see JT putting out solo music. JC did but then stopped. BSB has been putting out music for years.
Bsb has 3 leads, Nsync had 2 leads. Not that big of a difference. Nsync's debut album was great. The third was a step down but still had a lot of good songs.
@Pinky I do not mean to offend any solo career, but do you know how harder it is to maintain both professional and brother/sisterhood bond for a group of people with different personalities/point of view/characteristic/talent? How many groups out there that are even trying to stick together (for real, and seriously more than 15 years)? Solo career is all about that one person's need. But a group is a lot more harder to do; do you think compromising toward one another over and over again is easy? I can't even stand working to the same people for more than two years, specially knowing how shitty they are as a colleague. Thats why, I do stand fucking ovation for BSB. They are able to build that real bond from years ago to freaking this day. Yes. THEY are BEST as ONE.
I feel like the one of the reasons Nick always defends his decision with "The One" is because Brian co-wrote that song. You can see him looking over at Brian every now and then too. Nick will always have Brian's back :)
The one is so good I love that song it gives me all the feels and it is a beautiful heartfelt song. Plus Brian co wrote that song so it makes sense that it is so good and did so well.
Time is a modafucking classic. Time Answers to our life Everyone Siberia Safest place to hide Never gone Don't wanna lose you now I'll be there My fave underrated songs
These guys raised each other. They were in Europe for the 1st few years they were together and then came back home and made it big! They have been thru a lot together, just like brothers should. Oldest Fan
I loved "The One"! I thought it was the perfect song to end the album because the MV was dedicated to the fans. "Don't Want You Back" would have been a good early release, but honestly all the songs on that album was gold, so I can understand how it would have been a hard decision.
My favorite part of the documentary was when they went to Howie’s childhood home and Nick talked about making out with one of Howie’s cousins behind the garage or something and Howie correcting him with “it was my niece” while seething through his teeth. That sound like it happened 20+ years ago, when Nick at least was still well in his teens and Howie is a good protective uncle while still loving Nick too 🥰😄.
@@DeeDiamond2981 The song, "Don't Want You Back" and "Bye Bye Bye", by NSYNC has very similar instruments with the eleGuit. Perhaps the sampling got through as the trend of the year.
Damn you Nick! Haha! I voted for "Don't Want You Back" too! I knew that would've been a better single. They actually wanted a lot of their R&B singles to be released but their record company wanted to keep them with ballads and mid tempo pop songs. But BSB's singles looking back on it are really good pop songs and their music has stood the test of time, classics that people know them for. And in 20 years "Never Gone" album will still sound like it came out 20 years later because they have that classic sound, some songs on their previous albums yes but I would say "Never Gone" on up are definitely going to sound current in years to come.
BSB has a lot of successful songs... but THE ONE is my favorite BSB song of all time... it defines whats behind the pinnacle of their success, and that is their fans...
The One is my favorite song "You need me like i need you, we can share our dreams coming true. I can show you what true love means, just take my hand baby pleaasse..."
I actually love The One. Very danceable ... but I also love Don't want you back. I love a lot of their songs which are so underrated, I feel like most of their songs should have been a single. Like Time and answer to your life
I like 'Don't Want You Back' better but I love "The One" was chosen as single since the song is for their fans. And I love you guys more than Nsync. :)
WHAT?!?!?! "DON'T WANT YOU BACK" WAS GOING TO BE A SINGLE?!?!?! IT WAS MY FAVORITE AND I PLAY IT TO THIS DAY!!!!! Ugh...... NICK!!!!! You better be glad you're my favorite........ "The One" is pretty much their only single I don't really care for.....
you can see here a frick & frack moment -> when nick said ' you can see me and brian fight', brian said after that ' that happens ( with a laugh ) '. That is what i like about frick & frack, they have a fight but later they can laugh about it and very person has a fight with someone sometimes xx
The One is my absolute favorite song. I sob like a baby!! It's amazing. The bridge ... verse .. all of it. It's sad because it makes me reminisce Millennium
I remember after the release of "Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely" that the press were saying that "Don't Want You Back" would be the next single and then it didn't happen. I thought to myself like always that the press were full of crap. I didn't knew back then how close it came to fruition after all. But I'm glad it went the way it did because "Don"t Want You Back" is nice but "The One" is way better. Thank you Nick. ;)
+Ian Mccown I don't think so. They'd already released a ballad. The Perfect Fan is a sweet song but it isn't single material. It would've been like releasing a slower version of The One. Plus, the final single would've been competing with Bye Bye Bye. Neither of those two would've stood up to it.
At the time Nsync came out with Bye Bye Bye and Backstreet had to make a choice between Don't Want You Back and The One. DWYB is similar to Bye Bye Bye they said originally. So The One was the only choice
I remember that! Watching trl and freaking Nick calls. Smh don't want you back was winning the votes until nick said oh we're hoping for The One that there's some idea going around for the video. Smdh. The One won by a crazy amount. Lol good times.
+MissThisIsMe1982 lol none of nsync songs sounds like don't want you back. BSB released more ballads than faster songs and NSYNC came with a more dance aproach and won the market. don't want you back would have been a stronger single to go against bye bye bye
I'm referring to the hard sound beat of Don't Want You Back. BSB was the first to do it. People loved it, so NSYNC's producers(which were BSB's as well) took the popularity of it and ran with it on NSYNC's album.
I want it that way destroyed nsync, and larger than life, the music video costed 2 million, and destroyed nsync too, that's when nsync did nsa and came out with bye bye bye, it was a close competition, but in the end, I side with bsb
Okay I think AJ's vocals on "Don't Want You Back" were some of his best on any album, and it's a great song, but The One is such a positive and catchier song. I would have voted with Brian and Howie on it too and said, "I'd like to hear the one first".
I remember this back in 2000 when this was on TRL and they had three songs in consideration for the next single I would vote for one song each day I remember the three songs it's gotta be you Don't want you back and The One I voted for it's gotta be you at first then I went to don't want you back and then when Nick called into TRL he wanted the One to be the next single so I voted for it and I am glad I did it's a great pop song and I can tell the bond the Nick and Brian is like an older brother/younger brother bond I didn't see that with NSYNC I do like them but Backstreet is a family its awesome to see
Me encanta "Don't want you back" pero quedo "The one" como sencillo gracias a Nick lol 😂 de Millenium todas eran buenas! "Back to your heart" mi favorita del disco 😍👌🏻👏🏻
love this lol i totally remember when this happened. lol voting for Don't Want you Back and Nick called and ruined the whole thing. lol! it wasn't that close a vote either. DWYB was like 56 percent and The One was like 44 lol. smh he tipped it way over talking about he and the Boys have a great idea for a sick video for The One. smh lol
The One is one of my favorite songs. Don't want you back sucks. I hear that duh, duh, duh opening and I can't hit the skip button fast enough! Thanks for pick the right one Nick!!!!
keeley001 haha..same! i didnt listen to the full song for some time..i wish they had dont want to lose you now as a single, though..prefer it to the one..
They're two completely different songs. The One is like an anthemic kinda song and DWYB is a dark song. Personally I like both. I remember not listening to DWYB as much early on but I still somehow managed to memorize the opening line "You hit me faster than a shark attack....". And the boys do perform both songs on tour.
Glad and happy when DNA comes out... [I'm watching 'don't go breaking my heart' MV (2019) when my girl friend (not girlfriend) suddenly stop eating and focus on TV muttering wow! Because they still dancing 😊] BsB still my favorite vocal band...
my childhood memories remember “the one” pretending to be in the band, dancing, the first music video i can recall as a “fan video” and being amazed at the concerts and all the behind the scenes so yeah i like both but Im totally ok with the decision
DANG IT, NICK! I was always baffled as to why DWYB was never chosen as a single from that album. I also had no idea why The One was released. Now I know it was all your fault!
+crydelight m I agree. "The One" was no competition for "Bye, Bye Bye." But "Don't Want You Back" really could've been and might have even been a dance video for them. Sadly this trend of the wrong type of single to be released continued with every single off of Black & Blue including the release of that album. That's just my opinion reflecting on it after all these years. They should've waited till the beginning of 2001 and released Everyone as the first single and SOMH as the 2nd. NSYNC mania from their 2nd album was dying down since they were making a new album. It took me 15 years to finally really listen to the B&B album and fall in love with the album and it's songs. Why? Because the "No Strings Attached" album was that successful. NSYNC released "This I Promise You" in the fall of 2000 at the same time of SOMH. Way too much competition for a new album and song. I feel in a way B&B was better than Millennium. More mature! I did dislike the video for SOMH and when it comes to "The Call." I love it now but didn't then and didn't get why they released it as a 2nd single. "More Than That" is a beautiful song, but it too was a ballad. I get not wanting to be like NSYNC in some ways, but if you want success you have to release what will most likely be more successful. In the end none of this can be changed and I accept it for what it is. I will say though my instincts to like BSB more over NSYNC since the beginning of 1998 were right on. It's amazing how you can reflect on this as an adult. NSYNC had more successes in a way then, but BSB has the longevity, more albums and have more songs that have stood the test of time then NSYNC. I'm going to #KTBSPA!!! Oh and I would have "Get Another Boyfriend" as the 3rd single off of Black & Blue.
Don't Want You Back would have slowed Nsync's explosion at the time, they know that and that's why they are still kinda bitter about it.. Oh well, The One is still a great choice for a single and a great song even though they basically made The One Part 2, with The Answer To Our Lives..
Dillon! I never really felt like Nsync had that special flare that BSB did, probably because people were more obsessed with JT's face than them as an actual band
WELL SAID.. DONT WANT YOU BACK AN ITS GOTTA BE YOU AS SINGLES WOUDL OF BEEN WAY BETTER THEN THE ONE.. EVEN ON THE BLACK & BLUE ALBUM IF THEY RELEASED THESE SONGS AS SINGLES LIKE GET ANOTHER BOYFRIEND SHINNING STAR EVERYONE would of been way better than More Than That or The Call
Hard to agree with you friend. BSB are much more of a ballad type of band - it brings out their best. More Than That is one of the greatest love songs of all time. Shining Star and Everyone were not that strong but I 100% agree on Get Another Boyfriend!
Lol, that's why it seemed to be a bonus MV? Anyway, don't blame himmm. I love that song. I play it over and over again. It surprises me that Kev hates this song, a she was one of the MV director for this.
With or without Nick influencing the vote, I still liked 'The One' better. I'm glad that was the video, and if Nick had a hand in that, well, I may have to like him a tiny bit more.
I remember that...I wanted "Don't Want You Back" to be the next video. I was mad when "The One" got picked haha.. I liked "The One", but "Don't Want You Back" was my jam lol
