Back-up UPS - APC BX1100C-IN
This UPS is rated at 1100VA or 660 Watts. Provides the necessary backup power to complete the work, and safely shut down the PC. It offered me a back-up time of 35 minutes, in normal mode, providing 100Watts of power to my PC (on idle). (27 inch monitor + PC + RGB Keyboard + Mouse).
During Gaming, it provided about 6 mins backup time in normal mode. (DirtRally2, 1080p resolution, Nvidia 1080ti 11GB graphics card). UPS gets really hot.
In the battery saver mode, it provided about 4 mins of backup during gaming session.

Please remember UPS's are not meant for gaming for hours it just give you time to save your work, close the application and turn off your device safely. In 650w full load this UPS will hardly give you backup time of only 1-2 mins and in 240w it will give you 11 mins as mentioned by APC.

I used 65watt laptop to charge. When power was cut, The cpu was full charged and got discharged in 1 hour 10 minutes and It charged 68% my laptop. This is useless for backup. I think UPS are not made for backup. Only to save and safely close the PC. For backup, use only inverter.

Good review! Well done. Can you please let me know how you feel about this UPS model in 2021? I am planning to buy one soon & want to know if your opinion after 2 years has changed. I would like it to power my Macbook Air and a 21-inch extended display. Also, at the moment I have my laptop, etc plugged into a "GM Modular 3058 G-Power 4+1 Spike Guard" adaptor. Can I connect this directly to the UPS?
@TechnoShare
@TechnoShare 3 года назад
Thank you! Yes. Its a good UPS. I have not used backup power much as I have an inverter at home and the UPS never turns on due to this. But inverter takes a bit time (around half a second sometimes ) to switch to on when there is a power cut, And this gap is enough to turn off my pc. During Such times the UPS turns on quickly and provides the backup power and goes back to charging again. Battery life is good. Even today it is giving same backup time as earlier. (I did run it on UPS backup fully, some day as inverter ran out of power). Only thing is sometimes the fan turns on (during charging also durian backup). And its slightly noisy. But its fine. I have put it in the power saving mode. The backup time is less in this mode. But the battery will last longer in its life. I think even today, this one is the most rated UPS on amazon and i could not find an equally good one on amazon. For the spike guard, I have not connected anytime. Have directly plugged the devices at the back of UPS. Its mentioned in the user manual that extension chords and spike guards should not be connected. Not sure why and what the side effects are. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

Great video in all the aspects. Good cinematography, points well explained, clear audio and sensible audio levels, and all of this objective measurements. I virtually don't know anything about UPSs, so just wanted to know if this UPS can be directly connected to the 3-pin wall socket or needs to be connected to external battery. Needless to say, my doubt has been cleared. As mentioned by others, I too wish your video would have got more views and likes.

Does UPS stops earth problems 😅!? I live in rental home where earth isn't properly grounded i guess, in my PC everywhere I use tester on metal surface it shows light indicating earth but touching them by hand you won't feel a thing, recently my rtx 3080ti crashed, I'm guessing because of the earth issue or maybe not, so planning to buy ups Does UPS save my pc from getting earth?
@TechnoShare

No bro. I. Dont think it can save from earthing issue. I think there is some spike buster types built in that can protect connected equipments from voltage surge and lightning. Even I have same issue of not proper grounding at home. So far I haven't had any problems. As per my opinion, rtx crashing may not be due to this issue.

Hey there! I think it should work for you. Mine is a 750w smps and 27 inch 4k monitor 60hz consumes about 30 Watts at 50 Percent brightness and contrast. During normal browsing internet it gave me 30 mins in normal mode. During heavy gaming it gave me about 6 mins. I was playing Dirt rally 2.0, on 60fps, 1080p and GPU is nvidia 1080Ti. In the power saving mode its gave me less backup time around 3 to 4 mins while heavy gaming. While gaming during backup, The UPS became very hot and i smell plastic. Works fine though afterwards. So since your Configuration is slightly same or on the lower side, i think you can also expect the same backup times. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching 🙂👍

Hi there!! Guess, you might already have charged the UPS by now. Anyway, you can put it for charging and leave it for couple of hours and once it is fully charged, the charging LED indicator will turn off and it will stop charging beyond this point. Then you can start using it. Also, I think, you have the right spec for this UPS. I have similar specs too, but a little power hungry than yours. Mine is a 750W PSU, intel i7, 16GB RAM, nvidia gtx 1080TI GPU and 27 inch monitor. So far, its been more than a year, and It does back up when ever there is a power cut. I dont use much on the backup mode, as my home inverter supplies mains power soon after the power cut. Thanks for your comments!! Do give this video a like, subscribe!! if it was useful 😀

Q) does the internet continues when main power goes off? Q) i have a laptop charging 3 pin, one additional monitor with 3 pin, wifi 2 pin, presently all are inserted in the extension box. With this UPS do i just put the extension 3 pin in it or put all the 3 pins to ups directly? Thanks, very nice video.

Hi there! I have not connected the router to this ups. Its backed up by home inverter. And whenever the power goes off, the home inverter is quick in switching and I get the internet without interruption. In your case, you can connect the router also to the ups, so that you get Internet during power cut. Also, you need to connect the individual devices directly to the UPS. As per the manual, it is not advised to connect extension box. I think since you have battery in laptop, you may only have to connect monitor and router to the UPS. It can accept both 3 pin and 2 pin plugs. Hope this helps! Thanks for your comments! Please do like👍 this video and subscribe 👆 for more 🙂

Hey there! So, the UPS will work fine when you play games, and there is no power cut. ie you are using the Mains power. However, during a powercut and if you are playing game, then the backup time will be very less. Very less when compared to browsing activity or normal work. I have similar configuration. 750w psu, 27 inch 4k monitor, nvidia 1080Ti, intel i7. While gaming in 1080p, I got 4 minutes in the power saving mode and in normal mode around 6 to 7 mins. Had to switch off in the middle of 6 minute as I started to smell plastic, as UPS was getting heated, with fan spinning. Didn't want to take any chance! It works fine though. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching!

This system is actually a cyber UPS and has a runtime of only 5 to 15 minutes irrespective of which load is there, be it a PC or just an internet modem. However, of you want to continue the gaming or wish to switch on the PC and start playing during a power outage, then you need to get a Home UPS. Home UPS is the large UPS with a 100 Ah battery. That can help in more efficiency. Besides, if the PC is not run and something else like laptop charger or internet modems are only run, it will last longer.

I think it should do the job. Its as good as power failure for the UPS. When the ups turns on, the UPS fan might run for a minute and then stop. I have a similar scenario in my house. I have a home inverter. And when the power cut happens, the inverter kicks in. However, my UPS also turns on, as the inverter ia not so fast in power switching. The UPS after 15 seconds turns off and goes to using the mains power. Hope this helps.

@TechnoShare
@TechnoShare 4 года назад
Hi there! Thank you for the comment!! So, its a bit tricky to just say if it supports or not. If you haven energy meter, you can try to measure the total power consumption of the computer while you are working on the task. Power consumed during video editing (say adobe premiere pro) is not so much when no operation is done. But when you apply an effect, the power consumption spikes up. More power is consumed durring rendering around 200W (on my machine). During gaming it went upto 400W. Your machine spec seems to be almost at par when compared to mine. I have an i7 older generation, 750w PSU, 16gb ram, gtx 1080ti 11gb gpu, win10 and 28 inch led monitor. Regarding backup time, during gaming session i got 6 mins in regular and 4 mins in power saving mode. Just casual browsing gave a back up time of 30 mins in normal mode. I think you may (my guess) just get around 8-10 mins during video editing. (assuming a mix of editing and rendering work). Only question is whether it can sustain the load (total power). You may want to include the monitor also into the total power. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching 👍🙂

Hi there!! Thanks for you comment :😊. Yes, It is also mentioned in the user manual. Extension box should be avoided as you will end up drawing all power from a single socket on the UPS. Not sure if the socket or the UPS can handle all the power from 1 socket. Hence its better to distribute the load from all the output sockets from the UPS. There are a total of 4 output sockets. Perhaps you can make use of the same. Cant find any other solution!. It is made in India 😊, In Uttarakhand. Thanks for watching!!

@TechnoShare
@TechnoShare 4 года назад
Hey there! Even mine is a 750W PSU. Intel, i7. with 1080Ti Nvidia GPU. My gaming experience on 1080p, max settings, gave around 6 mins of backup time. UPS got hot, hence I switched off at the end of 6 mins. But anyway, the battery was almost over by that time. Power consumption was roughly around 300W to 400W, including the 27 inch monitor. Perhaps you may want to estimate your total power consumption during gaming, as your GPU may be little power hungry. If it is within the rated power of 660W, then it will work for you. But you may want to think on the backup time of less than 6-7 mins. Hope this helps!

Hi bro.. My PSU is 750w. Its the maximum rated power. During heavy gaming it can reach peak power consumption as the GPU and CPU will be fully loaded. In your case the actual power consumption is 470 + 50. You are almost nearing the max rated power of UPS which is 660w. For me, during heavy gaming, it served backup from battery for 6 mins and UPS got too much heated, as I could smell plastic. My load during the gaming session was around 350 to 400w including monitor. I had to switch off it at that point of time. Check the user manual for the pattern and beep of the light and sound. There are lot of error types. You will be able to find out what might be the cause for it.

So, I got a run time of 4 minutes while playing the game, and the UPS switched off. I also tried the the normal mode. But did not drain it fully. I was able to play for 6 minutes, and I switched back to main power as I started getting some weird plastic smell from the UPS, as it gets hot inside the UPS. UPS is working fine though :) My PC Specs: Intel Core i7700k Processor Asus Strix Z270E Motherboard 16 GB GSKILL RGB RAM Asus Strtix ROG GEFORCE GTX 1080Ti GPU Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 CPU Cooler RM 750 Modular Watt Corsair PSU Corsair 460X RGB cabinet Corsair K95 RGB Platinum Keyboard Logitech G402 Gaming Mouse DELL P2715Q 4K 27 Inch Monitor Hope this helps!! Hi bro, is it good to turn off battery saver while connected a 22 inch led monitor and a 15.6 inch laptop to the outlet of ups?
@TechnoShare
@TechnoShare 3 года назад
Battery saver is meant to increase the battery life of UPS. It basically changes the charge levels of the battery to a lower level. As such, if turned on, then you get slightly lesser backup time. So, it matters only when you are using the UPS in backup mode ie when no power. So, you need to decide if the shorter backup time is sufficient for you with 2 monitor. If not, you can turn the battery saver off. I personally have kept mine on. Battery life seems to be good even after almost 3 years. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching 👍🙂

Hi there! Thanks for the feedback 😊. So, yes. I have tested the UPS while playing Dirt Rally 2.0 on my PC. I have nvidia strix gtx1080ti and the 3 fans of it was spinning fast. When I turned off the mains power the PC continued to operate. Was able to play for about 6 mins, and I felt some weird plastic smell coming out of UPS. It was getting quite hot. Hence I had to switch back to mains power at that moment. The UPS fan had not yet kicked in while it was on backup mode. I just need 2mins to turn off pc, also main reason I'm going with ups is because instability of electricity here in my room, if someone put fan or something heavy the power goes like milliseconds and comes back, it was all fine till i bought 3080ti, even my gpu got repaired by replaced in warranty, now wonder UPS will save me from that issue??? Pls tell tmrw i have to buy since my gpu also arriving or should i go with voltage stabilizer
@TechnoShare
@TechnoShare 2 года назад
Hey bro. I think it should support as long as your pc is not drawing power more than 660w at the moment you have the power fluctuation. If you were to be playing some game at that moment, gpu will be used and the power consumption high, and if this is more than what thr ups can support, then it might just go to overload and get switched off. But i think it might just work. As mine is 1080ti and during gaming, i had measured, the power consumption went upto 300w during gaming . But still it worked as it was within the limits. Check how much power your 3080ti consumes at max. And also the wattage of your psu. That should help.

I was able to run all these for more than 10-15 mins. Your tv power consumption as per specification id 373 watts. In reality it could be lesser due to reduced brightness,sound etc. Xbox i am not sure. If its around 200 or 250 watts,m (during gaming), then it may work. Mine is a gaming PC high end, with 750w psu and gtx 1080ti gpu. Monitor is 4k LED 32 inch, with 50% brightness. Hi there! Your requirement seems to be unique..Even I was also planning to by a synology NAS and was on a hunt for a good UPS, for safely shutting it down. I connected it to my 55 inch Letv LED tv, tata sky Set-top box (recording box), philips sound bar and a chordless phone. The tv consumed a power of 85 Watts and the remaining appliances add up to around 50 to 60 watts. Total of around 130 to 140 Watts. With this, I got a backup time of 32 minutes, and I got the low battery beep sound after that. Hello. I am looking for an UPS for my gaming PC which has a PSU unit of 550W. I would connect my router, my CPU and my monitor. I am confused between the APC Backup 1100VA and the APC Backup Pro BR-1000G. The only major difference between them is the LCD display and the auto shutdown feature. Do you think it is worth having an LCD display for the extra money? My power usually comes back within 10-15 minutes or so. Also are the fans loud on the APC Backups 1100VA?
@TechnoShare
@TechnoShare 4 года назад
Hi there! Both seem to be good in terms of spec. The 1100va can support load upto 660w, while the 1000va can do 600w. 1100va has battery saver, for ensuring longer life of battery. the other doesn't have this. But the 1000va has display, better power efficiency at full load around 84%, while the other is 72%. And you get the usb connection to computer. I checked the price, on apc website, and the backup pro br 1000g costs Rs. 3000 more than the 1100va model. So, it depends on your usage. I would not loom at the efficiency factor much as both serves the purpose may be with very slight diff in the backup time. If you want to keep an eye always on the display looking at what is the current input voltage, how much watt is being drawn, how much percentage load is being used etc, and want ups connection, then 1000va might be a good option. For the display and usb connectivity Rs.3000 is the premium. For me, i don't usually monitor these things. I may be curious for a week on it to see all the values, but after that time probably it will not be of much use. But yea, having a display is good. It has happened to me thrice, the ups ran out of juice and pc switched off abruptly. It was beeping though before it shutdown. But i was hoping it would last for few more mins. Having a display here showing backup left in mins makes sense. Usb may not be of much use as display serves the purpose, so that you can shutdown manually. If you have a NAS, for storage then the auto shutdown really helps when you are away from the NAS device. About the fan noise, it is noisy. But it will turn on when running on battery or when charging. Otherwise it is off. Funny part is the fan kicks in when i power off ups by the button on ups and switch off mains. It runs for 5 mins and stops. Hope this helps! Good luck with your purchase 🙂👍

Not sure bro. I have sukam ups, and model is falcon. Its running on 160aH exide battery. Never tried connecting this to low capacity battery. I think you should easily get 1 hr backup time for 75aH for your set up.

Hey bro...... Considering that I have a 3 kva inverter and I run my pc on invertor during power surge, will it be enough for providing me 3 second backup for Rtx 2080 Super + Ryzen 9 3900x + 30 inch LED monitor?
@TechnoShare
@TechnoShare 4 года назад
Hi there! I have a similar setup, with 800va inverter and 750w psu, gtx 1080ti, intel i7 and 27inch led monitor. When the power goes off, ups comes on. And after 5 seconds once the inverter has taken over, it switches off. My pc power consumption is around 300 to 400w max. With this it works fine. The ups has a max power rating of 660w. So well within the range. As far as your configuration is concerned, it a bit more power hungry. Difficult to tell whether it works as it depends on the power consumption of your pc at the time of power cut. If it idle, then it may just work. But if you are working on video editing or gaming, which is very power hungry, then i am not sure. If you have a power/energy meter, you can try measuring the power consumption during the max stress period of the pc. If its well within the 660w, then i thin it should work without any problem. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching 👍🙂

can we connect 16a or power plug without extension
@TechnoShare
@TechnoShare 3 года назад
I think it may not support 16a plug type. The smaller 3 pin plug fits in. Regarding power plug, it depends how much amps you can pull out of the ups. If its any heating device etc, it may just complain of overload and not work.

Yes. Its a good one still. I did not see any newer model by APC on Amazon. Nor by other companies that can match this. Only con is there is no auto safe shutdown computer via USB or any other means(once the battery drains off fully). Other than that it is working well and running good after more than a year i guess. So we need to put always on the battery save mode right ? Plz explain simply for me im not good with english
@TechnoShare
@TechnoShare 5 лет назад
Hi There!!! If you put the UPS in the batter saver mode, then the UPS will offer consistent run-time during the lifetime of the battery. That means, the backup time that you see when the UPS was brand new, and the backup time after say 1 year will almost be same. There wont be much reduction in the run-time. On the website of APC, it is also mentioned that by turning on this mode, it will increase the battery life by 2 times. However, the run time of the connected device to the UPS will reduce, when this mode is enabled. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!!

Brother i have normal cpu dual core ps 100w + 15inch led monitor + simple keyboard mouse?? Kitna time chalega mera pc.... Or 600va good for me
@TechnoShare
@TechnoShare 5 лет назад
Hi bro. I just measured my monitor power consumption (27 inch, at 50% brightness, contrast). It consumes around 26 watts of power. So, lets consider 25 watts for your monitor, and for keyboard and mouse 10 watts. Total is 100W + 25 + 10 = 135 Watts.The 600VA model supplies roughly 360W. So it should be fine for your requirement as per my knowledge. Please do check how much backup time it will give etc. If you plan to upgrade your hardware or computer in the future, then please do check, if you want to buy the 1100VA model. Below is the specification for the 600va model.www.schneider-electric.co.in/en/product/BX600C-IN_APC/apc-back-ups-600%2C-230v-without-auto-shutdown-software%2C-india/Hope this helped you bro. Hi there! I think it should work. The power ratings of your appliances are the max ratings. It could possibly consume less power during normal operation. Ex. When you increase the volume, it consumes more power. Otherwise it will be less.

Can we add another battery for much backup or should we use a single 35ah battery for much backup will this effect ups or not please do reply
@TechnoShare
@TechnoShare 4 года назад
Hi there! As per my knowledge, it is not a good idea to add higher capacity battery to UPS. The reason is that, these UPS are designed to operate for a specific amount of time, under the specified load. For ex: 30 mins. The MOSFETs inside gets really hot and hence some amount of cooling is provided by a fan. Using the default provided battery, by the time it reaches the highest temperature, the battery would have got exhausted and we shutdown the UPS, there by the MOSFETs are protected. Now, if we are trying to add more capacity battery, in order to get more backup time, then there is a possibility that these MOSFETS may reach temperatures beyond the normal operating range, if we run these for very long time. There are many videos on youtube, where people have tried to add external car batteries to old UPS. I have seen couple of failures due to the above mentioned reason. Its not really safe, as there is a risk of fire also. Hope this helps!! Thanks for watching! 👍🙂

@@TechnoShare but i have seen some people add battery and then they add a cooling fan on ups top so it works for maximum 5hours
@TechnoShare
@TechnoShare 4 года назад
Hi! Yes. It depends on the internals and what kind of mosfets or components are used in the UPS. What I saw failing is for a very older generation of UPS. I am not sure of the current day UPS and its components. If they are good enough, they may work. Else they may fail.

Hi there. I think bill and online registration should be good. If you meant connecting AC mains to the UPS for charging, it should be fine. Even I use an extension box. For output, appliances should be directly plugged into the back of UPS output sockets. Extension box should not be used as mentioned in the user manual.
