This is great, John! I'm learning Irish at the moment and this is exactly what the teacher planned with us - how to order a coffee - using what you call backward planning, or by showing us what we'd be able to do by the end of the lesson and it was really motivational - and logical.

Great video John. It all makes sense when you work backwards. I always advise my trainee teachers to think about what they wish the students to achieve by the end of the lesson ("By the end of the lesson, students will be able to ..." - which is useful for writing lesson plans). What do you think are the challenges when planning for lessons within an online environment?

The biggest challenge seems to be sourcing the right materials. Could we think of a few more? I would be interested to learn about more.
