Been watching you for a year. Have gone from an 18 index to a 5.3. I have to admit I have a Foresight simulator in the garage so I practice constantly. I now compress the ball properly and hit it straighter and further. I'm working on my wife's swing and she hits it farther than a lot of my friends. Had knee replacement 2 days ago so it will be 45 days till I'm back in the simulator. You explain things in such a way that the average golfer can understand the golf swing. Keep the videos coming. Shawn, can't tell you how much you're helping me with my golf game. Played hockey for 30 years just started playing golf 4 months ago. Question though. Why am I able to hit my irons with a nice draw but I'm still slicing my driver even with a strong grip and the club head closed? I feel like it has to be my angle of attack due to my back swing angle. I feel very much confident with my feet/grounding when hitting my irons, but don't feel anywhere near as confident with my driver footing. Any suggestions? Thanks ahead of time. Mike

No worries; the driver will eventually fall into place after the 3 wood and 5 woods; the longer clubs tend to give us more tentativeness as we try to stay in play. the longer the club, the more we need to let it go but we need to have a prediction process and yours is still a little young. Your Podcast Guest from Austria wanting to know how good a teacher is by the students handicap changing. Well you can tell him that before you I was probably a 15+ that couldn't hit a driver more than 230 to 240. Now I'm a 4 that hits a driver 280+. So yeah you are the best teacher in the sport today.
Shawn, are you still closing the face slightly prior to set up for Driver/woods/hybrids? Seem to hit more hooks when I do this with those clubs-irons are fine.
Hi Charly! Some of my students need to close the woods more than irons and some need to open more and some the same. The woods are very different as they are packed with so many forgiveness features such as a BOWED FACE (twist face for Taylor Made) which makes the clubs APPEAR MORE OPEN than they are in reality. So what you do is deliver your action through the ball and into your flight plans and observe the flight and adjust accordingly when you see a pattern. yes, as you deliver THROUGH THE BALL OR THROUGH THE DOORFRAME; You will get more lag naturally; just make sure that grip is in order and plenty strong enough!
