PSI running high, no good flow, and felt smart enough to do it myself after watching your video. We are pool owners of 1 1/2 yrs not knowing this backwash action. 15 minutes later our pool is running better than ever. We will make this a normal process.
I don’t have the option for the filter on the control panel so that it stops running. Can I just use the quick wash/stop bottom on the skimmer of the filter ? Thank you.
I have a question - I had taken the top off my Hayward sand filter last week simply to replace the sand (pool has been OPEN for a month, opened by our pool guy), and there was no water inside, just sand. I was told this was an issue. That there should be water inside while running, otherwise the filter is broken. Any tips on this??
Is you valve on Filter or Recirculate ? Recirculate bypasses the filter. If it's on filter your problem is the valve not the filter. I would check or replace the top key assembly (SPX0714BA)
B&L Pools it was on filter, never on recirculate. The guy who inspected it said the filter seemed like it was “winterized” and not working properly, even though we’ve had it on since it was opened for the season, we’ve been successfully backwashing, rinsing etc. And it shows it’s running as per our salt generator. Just seemed a bit confusing to me.
@@sofijaantzaras4970 When you took the top off your sand filter you did the same thing that the winterize position does, you vented the filter, allowing air to displace the water that drained back into your pool. Therefore, you saw no water in top of filter. Next time you do this listen for the gulping sounds your filter makes as the air rushs in to displace the water that was previously air locked.
Is it normal to see sand coming out of the hose when I backwash? I'm using similar products (but from the same company). Happens only when I backwash on high, not low.
xSLWRTHNUx , if there is a lot of sand constantly coming out your lateral assembly may be broken. If you are getting send in the pool underneath the return Jets then your lateral assembly is definitely broken.
Eli Laverdiere I appreciate the reply. There is no sand in the pool, only comes out when I backwash. It's always done this. Ah well, I'll figure it out. Thanks again!
Winter mode on a filter just vents the filter so that when you remove the filters drain plug the filter will drain out all the water from filter to prevent damage from freezing during Winter when you shut down. I live in Florida and never shut down my pool. It has freeze protection supplied by 2000 dollar easy touch control panel that senses air temp and turns on pool to run when temps get near freezing. Without this control panel, I would have to protect pump and filter by draining water from both to prevent ice from expanding and busting casings and damaging filters internal components.
