I don't mind a timeless bow, the carbon by Bowtech is just that. I see this bow on the shelf year after year, and continually find myself recommending it. I went with the carbon icon to show you that doesn't matter what year you buy these bows, they remain in good condition. Bowtech found a way to give the blue-collar hunter a chance to shoot a carbon.

I didn't realize BowTech's carbon bow was under $1000. I've never shot one but would like to try one out sometime. Thanks for the great review.

After I reviewed it I noticed I said 699.00 which is what it was when I bought one 8 years ago, they have it now for around 799.00 but still under 1000.00

Have a 2017 model, multiple animals harvested, shoot out to 80 yrds with 4 fletch for 3D. 70lbs Have the flip disc on performace . its an awsome bow. Have new abb strings stablizer bars and HHA tetra sight on it. No need for a new bow.

I have a 2014 Carbon Overdrive. I love it. It's about time for another new set of strings.

Love the content. Keep up the good work. 1 recommendation. Your font to want to do something about the microphone. It sounds muffled and distorted when you're indoors. I love that your videos are really in depth but the mic sound makes it a little hard to enjoy the whole length. Again i love your videos. Great review

I have had a Carbon Knight since 2014 it is a great shooting accurate as hell out to 50 yards mine the way I have it set up with a 3 arrow quiver (quick 3) weights 4.6 lbs fully equipped and in the field I can put 3 thunderheads in a 2" circle at 50 yards!!!

I don't think I've killed more deer with another bow, was my go to when I climbed in for years, 48 yards was the farthest I shot with it but I can honestly say I was the most confident.

I think the best entry to carbon bows and even a competing bow, we have the levitate by use up next and man for 1300 less I would take the Bowtech carbon all day

I like how you make a point of saying how 240-260 fps is plenty for deer. My buddy bought a Mathews Switchback in 2006 and he still shoots that bow. He runs 400gr gold tips at about 255 fps from about 65lb draw. Killed a pile of deer with it. I shot a Parker Spitfire (extreme hunter mag) for a decade and at 60lb it only shot 385gr arrows at about 240 fps. I killed a bunch of deer with that bow too. Same goes for my uncle's Jennings Carbon Master he bought brand new that he retired this year for a Bowtech Carbon Icon. His old bow probably was only in the 230s with a 400ish gr arrow. All 3 of us with our "anemic" bows killed deer at over 30 yards for 15+ yrs a piece. I currently shoot a Bear authority at 72lb that runs 410gr arrows at 268fps. I've been shooting it for 6 years now. There not a big difference at all between how many of them shoot inside the 35-40 yards that 95+% of our shots are. I want to upgrade to a bow that allows me to run arrows in that 450-500 range at the same speeds I shoot 410gr arrows now, but I'm looking more for the comfort and shoot-ability than chasing arrow speeds. The similar arrow speeds is more for staying at similar trajectories I've become accustomed to than chasing speed. Before you mentioned the lightweight now blowing around more in the wind it was something I'd never thought about, but have noticed a noticeable difference in stability in wind from my parker to my bear as they are about 1lb apart in advertised weight with my bear probably coming in nearly 2lb heavier as I have them both set up currently. And I've had both lightweight and heavy bows on the way up through my early years and always found the heavier bow to just be easier to keep on target. I had an old late 90s golden eagle round wheel split limb bow that must've weighed 6lb with a quiver on it, but I shot that bow really well for the couple years I had it before I got my parker back in 05-06. Ironically, similar to you with your 60lb Carbon, I felt like I had a fast bow at the time jumping up to that parker and shot out to 40 yards with a 3-pin setup for literally a decade and knew my hold-overs out past 60 yards. All in all, great review. I enjoy the real world experiences brought into them and I like "timeless bow" reviews. There are a lot of very good bows pumped out since basically the Switchback came out in '05 and a ton are still in service in the used market. I feel there is definitely place for a "timeless bow" review segment.

Man I still have my switchback and don’t think I’ll ever let it go, was one of the first bows I hunted with for years and thought I had the best bow on the planet, thanks for the in-depth feedback I love hearing other people experienced and arrow/ ibo set ups

@@BackyardBows he probably won't ever get rid of it either. Haha. Hell, I still have my old parker as a back-up bow. My cousin, uncle, and myself all shoot a 28" draw. We all have shot that Parker and we bring it with us to our bow hunting camp trip every year. My uncle somehow broke his whisker biscuit on the way out there and noticed it getting prepped the night before for morning watch. He brought my Parker and killed a deer with it the following morning. I'll continue to bring that bow for a back up and there's a good chance it'll get used again. No, it's not the best bow by any means but it's better than a lot of bows that killed deer for decades, centuries really, and will get the job done as long as it's in working condition for decades to come.

I ordered a 2017 model off ebay for 300 bucks setup just to get my dad back into the archery woods we sighted it in few weeks ago draw cycle was great but vibration was the main down fall could be me shooting mathews for so long but that thing damn near vibrates for like 5 seconds after the shot i was wondering if adding some weight would calm it down some
@BackyardBows
@BackyardBows 2 года назад
Def with a nice weighted stabilizer, and man 300 bucks can’t beat it, especially to get someone back into the woods love hearing that
@BackyardBows
@BackyardBows 2 года назад
Only other suggestion would be to spend 50 bucks more and get it restrung
