For a cheap and more durable alternative for a lot of things I recommend black corrugated plastic. It's easy to cut and shape into a ton of things use zip ties to keep what you build together and then you won't have to worry about duct tape getting wet and failing.

or roofing paper too, if you need to make snoots and barn doors for lights.

Very well designed and engineered! Might I suggest: 1) make one set of walls slightly higher than the other so the rain will naturally run off the top panels outside, and 2) I know that time is at a premium, but mount tombstones of decreasing size up the walls of the cemetery scene and you can create a depth of space that looks like it extends back 100's of feet. Also: make them progressively darker as they get smaller to increase the effect of atmospheric depth. Nice work!

Thanks! Always appreciate suggestions. I actually did make the exterior walls taller than the interior. Had the water drain into the pool area. Love the second idea, will give that a shot. Thanks again!

@@chamberofsouls Be sure to do the placement of the additional tombstones from the viewpoint of the riders. Your depth of field is so shallow that if you do what appears to be correct placement from a standing viewpoint, it won't look right from the rider's perspective. Striking a horizon line on the back panel and referencing some images of cemeteries with rolling hills might help (or go to a local cemetery, sit in a folding chair, and take a few pictures). Good luck! Keep up the great work!

I watched your video after Halloween so many times, and I never get tired of each ride-through. The love, skill, attention to detail, and ingenuity that went into your backyard ride are nothing short of astounding. It's an art form all its own. In a way, I am reminded of people who create Art Cars - simply or elaborately decorated cars that are still roadworthy and are their own art exhibit every time they are driving. You don't take your art out into the world, people come to you, but then you usher them through your creation, an interactive art gallery that is part human, part mechanical. I cannot imagine the determination, money, and hours that went into creating your ride. How many people did it take to make your vision a reality? And did you have to get any special permits from your township? Thank you for sharing these videos with others, it's an honor to see how your creative minds accomplished all this. If you added a fog chiller, fog machine, and used some fog juice scent like froggies haunted house I'm sure it would add another layer of immersion to the ride.

Yep, thought about those, but since all enclosed would have to figure out an exhaust system so it didn’t get overly foggy and take away from the atmosphere

love it! I know one thing I find with my love of halloween decor set up every year is wanting to always ad just a few new things or I will switch out. It's so hard to stop the creative process. Do you find yourself wanting to create a second attraction on your property because you have successfully styled this one perfectly and there's not much left here to do.

Thank you for watching! So if you backlight it correctly, you can’t see it on the wall behind scene. I used landscaping fabric on the wall behind it which has a very low reflective property. So you couldn’t see it based on those two important things

It’s definitely a challenge! Thats why I used the dimmer on the backlights too so I could make adjustments to lighting while projector was on

Are those battery candles or did you wire them all together?

They are all battery. The ones on the cart though I converted to wired so I could turn them off with controller

I've already started building my track but only two sections in so far (I'll share images later). You mentioned if you did it again, you would go wider with the track. What do you think is a better width? I don't want to go so wide that the 2x6 starts sagging under the weight. Just curious what you might suggest...

Hey Todd, good point. I usually say something then figure it out after… It would be a process. I’d probably start with 6” additional width and then also add some more of those bearings I used to keep the cart from wobbling (hope you know which ones I mean). I am imagining that those would keep the 2x6 from flexing. But at the thinking stage I don’t know if +6” would make it even flex. Another option would be steel. But my welding skills are still under construction

@@chamberofsouls Got it! Yep, I'm aware of the bearings and those should arrive Friday. I reached out to you previously and mentioned I would be pushing the cart instead of using a motor, at least for now. I've modified the track supports to just be a 2x4 with the two 2x2 upright supports. I'm not coming off a deck, so I don't need the additional height and it reduces tripping for those that will be pushing the cart. Here's my RU-vid channel Art of the Haunt (just getting started, youtube.com/@AotH ) and I will be referencing your work in my videos and encouraging people to check out your channel. Thank YOU and your wife for taking time to document how you made yours work, it is VERY helpful!! I'm off the last two weeks of the year so I will be adding some videos that will have updates on my track as I build it.
