...Wow, been a while since we did one of these huh? BAD ALBUM COVERS! ===================== T-SHIRTS AND MERCH!: teespring.com/stores/crash-tho... Patreon: / crashthompsonxo Twitter: / crashthompsonxo Instagram: / crashthompsonxo
I always thought that Gaga cover was more hilarious than 'scary' - like she saw a Judas Priest album and was like "cool cool, but what if I *WAS* the Painkiller bike?" and because she's Gaga she went and did that.
@Alex André Rather than spending an eternity thinking of a creative way to comically insult them, I merely said the first thing that manifested in my head at the time. Yes, it was somewhat subpar, but I only have so much time in the world, and I wasn't about to waste any more than I needed there. 🙄 Have a nice evening, though.
Say what you will about Viper, very few titles will ever be as great as “Mutually Assured Destruction is Fuckin’ Stupid II”. Up there with 2Everything is 2Terrible 2: Tokyo Drift.
The Bon Jovi one is just a parody of the cover art of the 1959 Elvis Presley compilation _50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong: Elvis' Gold Records, Volume 2._ An extremely _ill-advised_ parody, admittedly.
The funny thing is that Elvis album cover has been parodied by multiple artists and I don’t think anyone has ever done it successfully while the original has been listed as one of the greatest album covers of all time. It’s all about the proper visual.
Funny thing about the Dokken album, their next studio album after that was called "Erase The Slate" - they were very much aware that trying to break into grunge was a bad idea even if they had someone less conniving than George Lynch. I mean, good lord, the logo on Shadowlife isn't even the actual Dokken logo, it looks like someone tried to recreate the Dokken logo with a default system font and gave up after typing it out.
Apparently Swamp Dogg is legit. I'm gonna have to go listen to him now! EDIT: I have returned to inform anyone seeing this that Swamp Dogg is indeed legit! More than many will ever be! Go listen to 'I'll Pretend' if you want your heart broken in the best ways!
Yesss I hoped to see Riot there! Fun fact - Riot's Johnny (officially known as Tior) was the earliest Metal mascot, except for, perhaps, Motorhead's Snaggletooth.
Doin Thangs is my favorite album cover and title ever, absolute masterpiece of ridiculousness. I never want to hear the actual album, because it can't possibly live up to the art.
I feel like Viper is an artist in the same way the 8 year old me recording songs off my mums old stack system on cassette and then recording links between them made me a radio presenter. But like with Wisaeu, like with Breen you have to ask yourself how much is he in on the joke? Especially given a bunch of vapourwave labels are now collabing with him.
The mascot's head on the Narita album cover reminds me way too much of that botched amateur restoration of a Spanish Catholic fresco from the early 2010s that made Christ look like a monkey.
HEY, CRASH! This was a great installment of "Bad Album Covers". I would like to extend "props" to you for showing an album cover from Pansy Division. I'm straight, but they're a great band. I first knew them through their tour dates with Green Day, Rancid, and your state heroes in The Ataris. "DOIN' THANGS!"
Say what you will, but Viper's Jpegmafia diss has stayed in the peripheral of my waking consciousness since 2019. He is also important in a strange way to the DIY nature of a lot of modern hip-hop. He's not quite as significant (or BASED) as Lil B, but still.
To be fair, Colonel Sanders is a Christmas icon in Japan. It's tradition to eat kfc over there on Christmas day. Interesting history behind it. Anyway, love the coverage of these beauties 😅👍
The Bears Doin Thangs. That cover really put a smile on my face. Hey, if you're gonna call yourself Big Bear, lean into it. *glares at blackbear wasting that name*
Man, it's been quite a while since the 4th volume of these covers came out, _way_ back in 2018. I'll probably be binging the other volumes before I watch this one to increase the hype!
Fun Fact! Jon Bon Jovi actually tried to buy the buffalo bills this year and got pissed when he couldn’t. Now he won’t come to buffalo anymore... oh no... how sad.. 😳
It was actually about 5 years ago... he (and the Canadian consortium he was a part of )were outbid by the couple who own the Sabres. (They also outbid Donald Trump. Supposedly, if Trump had been the successful bidder, he never would have ran for President.)
You know that Bon Jovi album cover is bad, when their most popular album’s cover is literally a wet garbage bag and yet somehow it looks a million times more.....appealing for lack of a better term. Also, as much as the Ripper era of Priest is maligned, i will defend Jugulator as a decent album. Demolition sucks though
You DO realize that the Bon Jovi box set "100,000,000 fans" cover is a direct parody/homage to an Elvis Presley record with a similar name, right? THAT'S why they're in Gold Lame suits.
28:09 That album cover just makes me laugh every time I see it! I also thought that "Arnold" was the name of the album. Also, me commenting on this video: DOIN THANGS!
The Jugulator cover is like if the CD cropping for Insomniac by Green Day was done in MS Paint. I know, I wanted to use the "it looks like a Five Finger Death Punch cover" joke but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to because of the bin.
I hope. That guy's happiness is some of the most infectious stuff I've ever seen. He might surround it with varying oddities in the album art, but you can't complain about his smiles.
@@CrashThompson I honestly thought for a second that you actually got Swamp Dogg to make an appearance in your video before I watched it. I kinda want to see that happen someday, that would be awesome!
Viper doesn't even make albums anymore. There's a whole group of internet users who title, edit, and make music videos who just throw together things and pay Viper to upload and release the music.
I remember my dad buying the Bon Jovi box set with the gold suits and as a huge Red Dwarf fan I just asked “why are they all dressed like Ace Rimmer?...well at least Jon has the right hair for it.”
I had to go on Spotify to count how many albums Viper had to see if he actually had 1500 albums because that’s insane but he actually has a lot of albums. Like so many albums that I still can’t believe it. How does Viper have so many albums???
Out of all things to expect, i was very surprised to see Juanes being mentioned. he's very popular in Colombia and Latin America in general. my mom owns a few Juanes CDs. but yeah, the cover for "Mi Sangre" ("My Blood" in English) is pretty corny, especially the tattoo sleeve. i used to think the tattoos were real when i was little LOL. Also, "La Camisa Negra" from that album is a banger.
I feel the exact same way about the Jugulator cover. I was 12 years old when that album dropped, and seeing the full piece of artwork with said murder robot leaping out of the lava blew my friggin' mind. It was easily one of the coolest things I'd ever seen at the time. But man, seeing the cropped version the band had to use for the cover was disappointing as hell. The full piece, though? Probably Priest's best album cover. Easily my favorite of the covers Mark Wilkinson did for the band.
Hey Crash, what about a video on your impressions regarding the albums you salid you would listen when reviewing the 500 albums list. Thanks for the video, love this series.
Why is Viper looking like a deep discount Dj Quik? Or like Dj Quik and Jaleel White's shamed love child...??? 🤷♀️ That baby goat album art made my night, ty 😅
Viper is kinda like the music equivalent of those anime shovelware games that are just plopped on Steam without a second thought, and are only popular for the meme factor.
