Marty, you had me rolling in laughter! Excellent video, with your comments so well placed. The 56 truly and really was the worst bad beat of all. We've all been there! Great video.

I used to watch your videos a decade ago. You’re a solid player. You taught me how to grind it out. I’m quitting ahead. I just don’t enjoy it anymore. I usually have thick skin, but waiting in tournaments for hours to get your aces, kings, or queens sucked out by a fish is the worst feeling in the world to me. I hope you’re up a ton of money

lol !! ' Never put it all on the line, if you cannot afford to loose it' A sense of nostalgia comes flooding back. Next to actually winning a tourney, these are the most memorable moments in poker; when we learn the most valuable lessons :) Let me guess; you keep going back for more :) Oh yes!! What a high. Gotta love this game!!

one of the worst bad beats I took was when I was first learning to play poker. I had no BR management and had slowly lost my money with MTT's, took my last $15 to 25NL hit middle set and got it all in against 2 people (top pair and KK) and top pair hit runner runner quads.. that experience taught me first hand how important BR management is.

With a lump in her throat Kim answered, 'Why yes, he did stop by for a few minutes this afternoon.' Her heart nearly skipped a beat when her husband curtly asked, 'And did he give you $500?' Kim, using her best poker face, replied, 'Well, yes, in fact he did give me $500.'

I recently did a test on online badbeats. I played 7 games back to back and took notes of how I lose. I got a badbeat 5 out of the 7 games for all my chip. I put each hand into a poker odds calculator and found that I lost 5 times with a 88%, 87%, 77%, and 71% chance of winning. Each of the bad beats was an all in situation either preflop or right after the flop. Magic Johnson was probably told he had a 70% chance of survival 15 yrs ago, but he still lives. Odds seem to not make sense online.

This has made me feel so much better Marty thanks. I hope these words of wisdom from some of my fellow Englishmen do the same for others. Some things in life are bad They can really make you mad Other things just make you swear and curse. When you're chewing on life's gristle Don't grumble, give a whistle And this'll help things turn out for the best... And...always look on the bright side of life... Always look on the light side of life...

Bob's wife followed and asked, 'Did you see anything that you like under there?' Surprised by her boldness, Jim admitted that, well indeed he did.. She said, 'Well, you can have it but it will cost you $500.' After taking a minute or two to assess the financial and moral costs of this offer, Jim confirms that he is interested. Kim told him that since her husband Bob worked Friday afternoons and Jim didn't, Jim should be at her house around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Bad beats are what makes poker profitable for good dedicated players. The bad players will think they play alright and stay on their low level and the good players will go on tilt or even stop playing. I know they hurt when they happen but they are actually great. I found my way to thank the players who make bad calls and suck out. Send them love and start the next tourney. Great choice of music and film clips. Beats can get you to the psychiatry :-)

@shade257
@shade257 15 лет назад
What most (''professional'') poker players don't realize, is that the bad beats are what make the profitable. For example, going head to head AA vs 22, you will lose about 20% of the time. That's good, because the casual (bad) player is winning often enough to keep playing. If he were to lose all the time, he wouldn't be playing at all (that's probably why chess is less popular, its 100% skill, better player always wins). No bad beats = No fish = No fisher. Bad beats = Bait. Peace out.

Suggestion : cause I run into beats like this too. If you have AA, just go all in preflop, don't slowplay them at all. If you get called you know you start ahead, and you got iy in with the best hand. And you don't give ANYBODY a chance to hit any cheap cards to move ahead of you.

I just experienced some bad beat myself. Omaha H/L tournament, had K-K-9-7, K-9 of diamonds, and K-7 of hearts, flop gives me A-5-3 of hearts, giving me the clearly lead, my hand blocking royal flush, only full house and quads can beat me, 2 of the highest chips goes all-in, I call. We all show our hands and I am so far ahead of them they didn't know what hit 'em, and of course the guy with pocket aces gets an ace on the river, quad aces... chances of that happening on river and in omaha...wow

Usually when I watch your videos, your comments are so cool ,calm and well thought out. Seeing and hearing you go berserk over these beats ,is sort of comforting to me, cause of course we get those all the time too , but you still wonder how the pros take these. (seeing they must get a lot more then a casual player like myself). Kind of makes it ok for me to get a little &#*$ when they happen to me. As long as I can get back to playing decent poker afterwards, of course.....:)

every time i take a beat i come here and feel a lot better. Was just on a final table, made two pair aces and kings on the turn, it's a completely dry board and the guy has been raising all his pockets up till this point (and limped this hand) so i almost certainly have the nuts. He bets I raise, he shoves and I call, he has two pair Aces and dueces. spikes a duece on the river, and I ended up 7th instead of having a dominating lead.

The cards flow the way they flow, all you can do is play them the best you can. I don't know why people tilt when others make bad calls as they're basically giving you money. Some of the beats on the video are not that bad, but the 65 hand was hilarious. I can remember some of the bad beats I got like my full house being cracked by two outer for a straight flush or my nut straight getting hit by runner runner full house. I guess all you can do is shrug it off and reload or play another tourney

I've had more bad beats in online poker then I've ever had in my life. the worst one was when I had 10 J suited. I flopped the NUTSTRAIGHT which was 7c 8h 9c. So I raised, I got re-raised, I re-raised and he pushed ALL IN so I quickly called. Turns out he has Ad - Ac, then the turn comes a CLUB and river CLUB, he runner-runner a flush. I actually screamed "WTF!!"

I really love your strategy series and it was a major help for me to improve online and offline poker. But this bad beat collection is just hilarious ;-) Seriously, what would poker be without these river moments. You pay for action and adrenaline - and there you get it. Instantly. Director's cut. And now for the funniest, poker joke of all time.... Two couples were playing poker one evening. Jim accidentally dropped some cards on the floor. When he bent down under the table to pick them up, he noticed Bob's wife, Kim wasn't wearing any underwear under her dress! Shocked by this, Jim upon trying to sit back up again, hit his head on the table and emerged red-faced. Later, Jim went to the kitchen to get some refreshments.

just lost heads up, firs my nemesis hits 2 outer to stay alive (after going all in with A9 on a turn with just one pair 99 against my trip 8) . He than takes the lead by little, i hit 2 pairs (5&6) on flop, we both go all in (flop: 5 6 9, I have 56, he has J9). He hits another 9....and he wins tho i had him dominated through most of the hands...

trouble is guys, bad beats are part of the game... i bet you don't have a video for the number of times you've sucked out on other people! A lot of these aren't bad beats either, just a series of outdraws. The only true bad beat in my opinion is when you are holding AA on the big blind and it folds around to you! If it is a possibility that you can be beaten then it can and does happen! Great video though :)

Do you see winning poker players make these excuses? No, it's an excuse for your bad play. Everyone gets bad beats just as much as anybody else. It's called 'long term' If you play winning poker then you will win in the LONG TERM. Poker sites have no incentive to lay bad beats on people as the poker sites want you to keep playing with them so they can make rake. If anything, the sites are trying to not lay bad beats so you continue to play.

What!? Which ones isn't technically not a bad beat? If he is way ahead at the time the cards are turned over then its a bad beat ak vs aj...qq vs kq vs kq is all bad beats. And what flaws did you see because Marty's game is pretty solid in my opinion. Most of these bad beats are against an isolated player so I'm really confused on your logic here.

pfff, you call that bad beat? Try to immagine this: I'm 7th out of 8, 7 places paid; I'm almost dead (2k with blinds at 200/400), I check to see the flop with QTs. I flop a flush (A92 on the board). I check, he bets, I go all-in. He calls. His cards? AJ and even his J is the wrong color. Oh, he's so dead! He won't have enough chips to cover the BB! Well, the turn card is a 9. And the river... is another 9. He gets a FH and I came out empty. It took me a minute to realize what just happened...

I've seen this pattern repeat over and over again - online poker is rigged - these bad beats are a simple yet subtle way to cut tourneys short - most of the time they happen when you are called by someone with a bigger stack than yours - you're then forced to go all in and....zap! you're out of the tourney. Of course it's not always like that, otherwise the pattern would be too obvious, yet it is enough to give the house extra cash. ONLINE POKER IS JUST YOUR AVERAGE CASINO IN DISGUISE.
