I bought a 2023 Rogue. It is a strong mower made with heavy steel and is beautifully simplistic in design. Was designed by race car people and it shows. I didn’t have any loose bolts or any other defects at all. It is very loud though. It is like a tornado the way it mows. Has a 39HP EFI engine and is a 72” deck.
I can personally vouch for the Rogue - mine is 61" with Yamaha 33hp engine - does not sound like a mower engine - sounds like a hot rod - have owned now for over 1 1/2 years - residential use - very pleased so far. Run AMSOIL synthetic in everything for best oil on Earth protection of everything. AMSOIL has a special 10 30 small engine oil and 20 50 hydrostatic - also have synthetic grease for the grease gun. On a 1-10 scale, it is as close to 10 as possible. Even got the fancy aluminum Vector rims for rear which are truly nice versus standard steel, and go perfectly with styling of Rogue versus plain jane steel. Thumbs...way up !
Great review with really helpful info and tips. Also like your slow and deliberate presentation. Some reviewers just talk too fast. Great to hear Bad Boys customer support is top notch as well. That can be rare these days. Thanks for the review.
Glad you have more likes than dislikes. I just did my 8 hour maintenance on my 2021 Bad Boy Rebel. I have the same Kawasaki FX1000V motor as you do on mine. I love my Rebel.
The tires are ruff on the yard, I have it down so I don't do it any more but took some practice. And the arms that attach to the deck have grease fittings.
For belt replacement, do you have an idler that holds the belt close to the pulley? I think I’m going to have to remove the idler on mine so that I can get my old belt off and put a new belt on. I can’t find any videos on how to do this. 😢
@@robertmalensek5736 I was able to remove mine. It was a chore but I finally figured it out. I tried to get the old belt off without removing it but, unfortunately, the belt would not go in between that rod and the pulley.
These Rouges are weak in the front end. Where the front forks bolt into the frame, the welds will crack around there and allow the front to flex. You'll start to notice it cuts shorter in reverse than forward.
Did you have to drill holes in the deck for the advanced chute system, or use the existing holes? Also do you think the reach would be too far for a 72" deck? Possibly add a curved extension to the handle to help with the reach?
Thanks for the information on the pipe extension can you tell me we’re you found the foot extension haven’t seen any tried eBay bad boy parts nothing to be found thanks again
217-209-3106 Steven Lee Job if I remeber right is a bad boy dealer. Heard the new ones come with one. So might be able to call bad boy and get one also.
I have to say it is good to hear that their customer service is good but I also feel like with the price tag on a mower at this level, they should have had better quality control and assurance. If I spend money on a mower, customer service is the last thing I’m checking off on my list. I want it ready to roll, no problems and can take a licking.
I am in several groups of different brand of mower and they all have some problems. I did a lot of reasearch before I bought one. all brands I researched the equal mower to the one I got where quite a bit more money.
That's for sure, when i gotta make special trips cause the dealer or manufacturer did a half Inspection i feel that the mower price is gouging me then!!!!!!!
Robert, I have same year & model. You mention the uncut grass & putting washers on top of the blades. Is it not cutting properly in just one portion of the deck or is it at random spots? I believe its due to the baffle being too long there in front of the blades.
I have a late 2019 model & mine was leaving a strip of random uncut grass from the left blade. After the dealer didn't seem to want to mess with it, I cut an inch of the baffle out & now it cuts like it should.
Do you have any issues with over heating on the engine I'm been hearing that's a problem with the exhaust. Can anyone comment back if they are having this issue with these Bad Boy.
I have not had a problem with that. I would think the tips would help move the heat out. Thought about wrapping the muffler with heat tape. But I haven't had any issues.
Thank you for responding back I really looking to purchase one of these but that's the one reason of over heating problems. I have to check it out and make sure everything is very good quality with the Bad Boys mowers
@@robertmalensek5736 FYI I had heard it’s not a good idea to wrap your muffler with heat tape because it holds too much heat in the muffler and will cause engine issues. Thanks for sharing your review.
Good job, I have the bad boy elite model 54” cut, Kawasaki engine, Noise has been a problem but I think my noise comes from the deck, as it does not make that much noise when the deck is not running, I added a hitch and a old man’s mount handle plus the adjustable handles asi am a big boy, So far it’s been a great mower, I added the poor boy Shute plug, you bolt it on would love to have one like yours, Take care, Wow, you need to work for bad boy research and improvement department
I don't have a lot of hills. The one I got haven't had a problem as long as you don't try to back up it. Just have to learn how to turn or it will tear up the grass.
I bought the 2021 Rogue. The only thing I do not like is it cuts from 2 inches on up. I would prefer 1.5 inch cut on the low setting. Can I add a couple of washers to lower the blades? If so, what size?
@@robertmalensek5736 Thanks for the reply. With this suspension set up they have now, you don't really need a flat yard. I live in southeast Texas and get 3 plus inches of rain per month so water is not the issue. I mow twice a week so I was just curious about putting a couple of washers on and it not hurting my mower. You have some good video's. Thanks
How about how many inches is your mower/ how much did it cost/what is the advantage with this size of Mower compared to a different size/ why is it So LOUD / I WATCHED COMPARISON W TORO TIMESAVER / WAS SO LOUD/ IS IT THE MOTOR/ BLADES MOVING SO FAST/ THE EXHAUST / I really like this mower/ I WANT TO MOW WITH AN ATTITUDE/ since I am a dad I will MOW WITH A DADITUDE !!!!
Has a 61 inch deck. Loud because the exhaust pipés dont go past the side shield, that is why I extended mine. This one runs around 10,000. Ride and cuts amazing
Hello very nice mods I just bought one 2021 model I did notice it was much louder than my last one could you tell me we’re you got the exhaust extensions love them also I need a foot extension my self were did you find it looked it up couldn’t find one any information would be very appreciated
Got the extentions on ebay they just slid over the other exhaust and got tight when they reached the weld have never clamped them on. Got the foot extention from someone on a bad boy FB page a dealer has someone that makes them. Will look and see if I can get the number when I get out of FB jail 5 more days. 😆
Can you tell me how much gas you burn per hour? Some say that Kawasaki 1000 sucks a lot of gas. I'm going to buy a Rogue soon, and I'm trying to decide between the Kawasaki 1000, or the Vanguard with EFI. Gas is expensive these days...
I have no idea as I just mow my yard, and I just don't keep track of that. I know it isn't easy on fuel compared to my old rider per hour but what took me almost 4 hours to mow I can do in less than a hour if I get in a hurry. I have heard the Yamaha does well on fuel don't know about the Vangard. Sorry I can't be more helpful. If it quits raining here and the yards dries up I can fill it up and mow and see how much it takes.
@@robertmalensek5736 Thanks for the reply. My dealer called me this morning and told me they just got one in with the 33HP Yamaha EFI engine on it. I quickly went over and purchased it. That should be a great combo of power and fuel efficiency!
@@robertmalensek5736 Did you friction-fit them onto your stock pipes, or was there any cutting/welding? I bought a set of tips and they are just so slightly loose when fitting over the stock exhaust.
I got the 2021 maverick with the fs730v where did u get the pipe extensions and the hitch id like to have both of them on it...I think I’ve put alil over 20 hours on it without an issue so far. Only takes me alil over two hours to mow my 5 1/2 acres.
Scag are just as bad for loose bolts, we got a Fredom z a few month back, had to give it a spanner check after 10 mins as half a dozen bolts came loose
I don’t like bad boy because of the deck lift system. The pedal is too far back as you mentioned, I don’t like having my controls in two different locations how the choke is on the left side and throttle and key switch is on the right.
Someone said the new ones come with the pedal extension. And the choke being on the other side doesn't bother me, both easy reach. But love my mower and is built like a tank.
You shouldn’t lower your blades. You were driving to fast for the blades that you have. Get blades that have a higher bend on the backside of them which helps lift and or suck the grass more up into the blades for when driving faster!
@@robertmalensek5736 well If you don’t have the right blades can make a difference. Plus ppl don’t realize if the grass is a little wet, too tall makes a difference as well and don’t mention that. You can only go so fast in certain conditions. Plus another factor ppl don’t realize is also HP! Not enough rpm’s and going to fast blades don’t spin fast enough. Some problems can be the mower has to fast top end. Let’s not forget air pressure in your tires can make for patches not being mowed as well. Been there. Lol.. plus I know several ppl with those bad boys and never had the problems you had and they beat the crap out of theirs so they are not driving slow. I’m looking at get this year’s model. Adjustable handles, seat with the suspension. Which felt nice when I drove one. Suspension front and rear. Pretty nice.
I have the ZT Elite 48" deck and it's good mower. I've a LOT of chain link fence I have mow close to, nothing on the mower can stick out to snag the fence. Those exhaust extenders would never work on my machine as I would rip them right out on a fence line.
? I have many things I have to raise my deck for while mowing. A long walk way paved with Stones,a bridge, I cross the gravel drives 4 times, tree roots etc.
