1979. I was Senior in High School. Had a pair of household speakers strapped into the back seat of my Torino. Would drive to school with Bad Co. blasting Rock and Roll Fantasy! "HERE COMES THE JESTERS, ONE TWO THREE EEEE! You cannot go wrong with any song from Bad Company. Loved your story. Still get chills when Johnny dies. Thanks for the memory.
I heard the following songs on classic rock radio and thoroughly enjoyed them all: Can't Get Enough, Rock Steady, Ready for Love, Bad Company, Seagull*, Good Lovin' Gone Bad, Live for the Music*, Run with the Pack, and Silver Blue & Gold*. The ones with the asterisk are ones that I feel like they didn't get as much radio play as the big hits, so maybe you two would like to do those since I remember you have said you often like to do the kinda lesser known, "deep" tracks. I would love to hear you do any of these! Thanks for sharing Shooting Star. It's always been moving to hear it. I got chills, too, again just now after hearing it 100 times.
High school memories here, kids. I bought their 1st album, Bad Company, when it came out. As soon as this one came out, in 1975, I grabbed this one, too. Paul has said this song came about thinking about his contemporaries that were lost way too early due to their rock star lifestyle.
You’re gonna get a TON of “ FEEL LIKE MAKING LOVE” requests. But Bad Company was just one of those early bands that made almost any song they did sound awesome. Much love, and I’m here for whatever you both want to play!!
Bad Company's first 3 albums are just packed with great songs. You should do a full album reaction to any of them, I'm sure you won't find a song you don't like. Their 4th album for me was OK, but not as good as the earlier stuff. I saw them live at the Oakland Coliseum Arena (indoor venue, not the stadium) in 1979, what a great show, despite getting a seat way up high near the rafters and off to the side (The good seating sold out so fast, I had to take whatever was left).
Bad Co released the first and last albums on the Swan Song label owned by Led Zeppelin. Their furst and last albums (they reformed with a different lineup years later). Singer Paul Rogers sang with Queen for several years. Adam Lambert replaced him. Paul and drummer Simon Kirke were in Free. "All Right Now."
A great reaction, to a great suggestion from Greybeard. It’s funny how some songs just get embedded in our psyche. I’m glad you got to finally hear the whole song in all its glory. Their whole first album is great. The first song on the Album was the first hit. Can’t Get Enough of Your Love. I’d start with that one the first hit, and the first song, on the album first album. Lots of other great songs the song Bad Company is good, moving on is good off of the shooting star album. My favorite is the first song on that album which is Good Lovin Gone Bad. A Banger❤️❤️ Feel like making love is a good song. I’ve just heard it maybe 5000 times so I don’t need to here it again. The sky is burning is also a great one from a later album. Their whole catalog is great and Paul Rodgers would be my choice of a lead singer if I was forming a rock ‘n’ roll band. I think he’s one of the best ever. The band is free, which features Paul Rogers before Bad Company has a song. I think Nick has already reacted to called All right now. Another big time banger.
Oh! I love Sky is Burnin'....oh, I just looked it up and found it's called Burnin' Sky and is the first song on their album by the same name. 1977. Great song!
Yes please. More Bad Co So many great songs to chose from, I’d suggest “gone gone gone”, “rock n’ roll fantasy” “silver, blue, and gold” “burning sky”…… that’s just a start. There’s probably 30 or 40 others that are great.
Great rock band, Trivia. Boz Burrell is the bassist who actually played in King Crimson!!!! He's on the KC 'Islands' album and the KC live album 'Earthbound'. I see you discovered this at 13:46
What a great way to start the weekend. Listening to my my favorite Bad Company song with my two favorite reactors! ❤ PS Loved the story about Lex and her sisters jamming out to this song.
Nick and Lex, you are two of the nicest. most incredible sweetest people, hearts of Gold, I so glad and lucky I found you two so I can enjoy your great reactions, Thank you so much for all the enjoyment.
One of the greatest rock bands of the '70s. I've been chasing that Mick Ralphs guitar tone for decades, but with my budget and skill level I've never really achieved it. At least I've gotten in the ballpark of the early Billy Gibbons tone. The gear is pretty simple, it's his playing that really makes his tone, and while you can imitate it, you can't duplicate it.
The power trio of sisters from Monterrey Mexico, The Warning, were spawned out of playing the game Rock Band. The makers of the game actually featured a song from their first album on the Rock Band 4 platform when they were only 15, 13, and 10 years old, respectively. There's a video on RU-vid on this.
Bad Company tracks? Besides the ones you mentioned you should also check out Good Lovin' Gone Bad, Rock Steady, Seagull, Running With The Pack, Deal With The Preacher, Rock And Roll Fantasy, and Movin' On.
Great story and song. After seeing your latest reaction to Van Halen, I was thinking Bad Company was one band that you hadn't reacted to yet ... good timing.
Please, please, please react to 'Feel Like Makin' Love' Nick and Alexia! There's something about Bad Company songs that create great memories. My daughter when she was about 8 or 9 would stand up in the back seat of the car and DEMAND that I play that song on the car stereo at full volume, and proceed to sing along with it at the top of her voice. Man, she was loud! Mick Ralph's iconic guitar riff, and Paul Rodgers' great vocals make it a classic rock track, and its quiet, loud, quiet, loud passages have always seemed to me to pre-date grunge by nearly 20 years!
Fun memory with your daughter classic rock song. I have a memory of this song where the high school GarageBand I was playing in was playing a small gig, and one of our guitar players who thought he could sing harmony decided he should and just dived in. It sounded terrible 🤢🤮so bad and he wouldn’t stop. 😱 Managed to ruin the whole gig and that memories never met me. I was so embarrassed. 🤣
SALUDOS
Great Reaction, With A Lot Of Meaning... Well Done & Hope it Brought Back Some great Memories.. Both Feel Like making love & Bad Company Are Great Tune's.. Probably Would suggest Bad Company As The First To Listen Too..
Great pick! I was 18 when this came out & I bought it. Got home & put it on the fold-out record player at full volume. My Mom stopped and asked who it was & I told her. She said "I kinda like that, but it's too loud!" I told her if it ain't loud, it aint Rock-and-roll. 😎
Love Me Do! Have you ever reacted to Love Me Do?? As a reference and for context, it is a great 'Before and After' point in music history! (great story, thanks.) Oh thought you reacted to more Bad Co! The song Bad Company is great, I like, Silver, Blue and Gold, and........Ready for Love....beautiful stuff......
Just a great song by a great group! I have some of their music. This brings back so many High School memories. Nick and Lex - You should listen to "Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy" from the album Desolation Angels. A more upbeat song.
Bad Company evolved from the band Free. Free were the band responsible for songs like Alright Now and Wishing Well. They were less pop and more blues/rock. Free were a great band back in the day.
So many great songs from Bad Co.... Bad Company Feel Like Makin' Love Rock N Roll Fantasy Burnin' Sky ...brings back memories of jr high... and not going to high school 😀 edit... Another song that came to mind... thought it was Bad Co for a second, until I remembered correctly... #nicknlexrequest The Outlaws - Green Grass And High Tides ... a song that usually made it through the speakers of my childhood friend's speakers while hanging out after school and during the summers tossing frisbees 🙂 and of course... #nicknlexrequest Be Bop Deluxe - Axe Victim ....or JP's suggestion, Sleep That Burns 🙂
one of the best rock albums ever end of story, roger's had one of the best rock voices ever and there is no dead wood on this whole album.absolute classic
But if you are taking requests, and because I’m a Ride or Die ACDC fan!! I please please please request “ Ride On, and Down Payment Blues”. Both Bonn Scott era songs. Both a bluesy side of ACDC. And both only ever done 1 time, that I know of. If you do get to “ Down Payment Blues”, I only request the Bonn Scott Album version. Just because Brian Johnson did re-sing this song. And there is a video. But in true honor of Bonn Scott, it can only be sang by him. Thanks beautiful people!! Much love and light.
Great to hear this again. I was and still am a big Free fan. Bad Company was a natural progression from them. Having Mick Ralphs from Mott the Hoople brought in a great guitarist. Not that Paul Kossoff wasn't.
I already loved many songs of Free, but Bad Company was even a bit better, especially Feels Like Making Love and Shooting Star , both of this Straight Shooter album...sadly they were never better after this ....
If you think Bad Company is Shooting Star you`ll be very surprise to listen to other numbers with this GREAT GREAT Rock `N Roll band,. Ons of the Rock history best singer, and you have to listen to a other band with the singer: the band FREE, ons of best band from England from the late 60s and early 70s only Led zeppelin was bigger... try FREE Trouble on double time, and Bad Company Leaving you... You are in the MUSIC heaven....I`m from Denmark like to listen to you channel...
