Bad Differential Noise? ( 2011 Silverado) 

I know what that noise is.. And all my silverados have done it since 2004.. The shaft going into transmission doesn't slide easy and makes a clunk sound. Some people have pulled that off drilled a hole and put a grease zerk in it. But read that grease is not a good idea... If you take it to a dealer, they will take some transmission fluid and oil the shaft and slide drive shaft back on and the clunk will be back in 30 days. I did hear you can buy a nickel plated Yoke for the transmission side that is suppose to fix the issue.. I have kinda learn to live with it after that sound keeps coming back after buying another truck. Oh and GM will tell you this noise is normal.

Sounds like a bad muffler bearing

Either u joints or drop drive shaft with truck jacked up an see if the yoke has any free play when u spin it

Tendency is to think the worst. U joints is what that appears to be.

My 2016 Corolla s makes the same noise it’s been bugging me for a while now and I can’t figure out what it is,.. I’ve been looking into it and I starting to believe it’s the driveshaft,.or differential

Normal Chevy, GMC clunk. Nothing to worry about folks

My uncle 1996 mercury grand marquis gs is making a clunking sound when you put it in reverse and in drive. I thought it was the u joints but they're fine so the guy said it was the differential. The differential have play so can it be rebuild or he have to buy another differential?

My 1985 suburban does this after I put a new u joint and new transmission Mount.. I’ve driven it 10k miles this year with it. Don’t know what it is but hasn’t seen to cause harm

What ended up being the issue, I have a 4runner making the same noise

I think that the clicking is normal because my chevy 2011 Tahoe does that and always has but I am having some weird sounds from either the drive shaft or some kind of gearing area and I don't know what it is but it sounds like a vrom vrom vrom kinda sound when I accelerate and slow down and turn too. CAN YOU HELP ME

That’s a bad u joint get from Napa it’ll take like an hour to replace it
