A white Mercedes acts crazy on the track and i get angry, not TO angry but this could never be ok in my eyes. My car is a BMW E36 323ti (compact) the engine is swapped to a 328 and with some tweaks i got 190hp in the rear.

+Zsolto66 he had probably given up on a timed lap thanks to the incident, and really was "just cruising" to get thru that lap. I found his fat sloshing around kinda hypnotising as well.
Johan Sjöström If someone wants to pass you move to the right, not the left. This track is located in Germany and follows German regulations. The slow lane is the right lane. Left is where you are supposed to pass. Most ppl. even indicate to the right while staying on the right side to let the guy behind know that they are aware of being overtaken.

To be honest Johan, I think you over reacted. You know just as well as anyone with experience on the nurbergring that on tourist days... its full of drivers with very different skill levels. You seem to have the mentality that just because you are faster, you have more rights? As soon as you got angry, you became no better than the driver in the Merc! Just my opinion.

John Gordon i respect you opinion but does not agree (yes i got angry and yes that is not good BUT) I always try to respect people that are newbies and i understand how it is to drive on a track for the first time and so on. But there is a huge difference between low skill level and stupidity, this kind of driving the merc driver have here is nothing else than a dangerous lap where his is playing with the car and for me thats fine but not when i and other cars are there, there is a huge risc for accidents even without him and if you add this behaviour there risc is much higher for all of us around him and that is NOT ok. I think if you look at some more laps where im driving on the nordschleife (in my channel) i HOPE you see that im normally not an angry dangerous driver, i rather wait to pass a car than doing it in a bad way, ofcourse even i have done some things i regret but not like this..
Johan Sjöström You are driving a 200+ BHP weapon. And you are doing it angry. If it was me, I would take a deep breath, then slow down, give him some space and enjoy my lap. But.. You are a good driver, your car looks really well sorted and I enjoyed your other videos. :)
John Gordon You have a point there. One of the abilities I got for driving all my life in Argentina is to overcome anger on other dumb and dangerous drivers. When I went at the Nürburgring I had some troubles with some Chinese guy who rented a white sirocco and showed signs of "I have not idea of what I'm doing" wile parking the car. I passed him at a high speed at Klostertal, he didn't see me and almost cut me over, that issue consumed all my concentration for a few corners. Johan, please try to calm down a bit and enjoy!

May I remind you a place such as the nordschleife has a notoriety for being a demanding track to be on so please spare the 'its OK if your new, be nice'. If you go anywhere there are rules to being on a track as well as special ones for certain locations across the world some rules stay the same, when you are slower give right of way to faster drivers. Just because there are 'tourists' or 'novice' drivers out there the ignorant way of hogging the best lines and lack of car control ins't an excuse. If I caught you doing that while I was doing my lap id be just as irate, and nothing gets on my tits more than someone who owns a car they cant control it in the case of the merc in this video. Just to point out your version of angry is not the level of frustration on that man's face when you get them kinds of jokers. Look what happened to him, off on the grass. Would have been more satisfied if he scraped it on the barrier just to shake him up.
The driver did a great job, though he was angry he didnt try to some how revenge the Benz, and sometimes the disadvantage of replacing a steering wheels is having no horn
I dont think he read the rules. Arent you supposed to keep right for others to overtake on the left? unless you are holding your race line (which he obviously wasnt doing)

+FSXgta no i dont think many people read the rules but hey this kind of driving is not ok anyway. Overtake on the left always as you say. On trackdays there are other rules but on touristfahrten its same rules as on legal german roads
+Johan Sjöström And damn, you can trust me if I say that there are a lot of Idiot Drivers in Germany. I don´t know others Country a lot but that´s how it is. And just keep one rule in your Mind: Never get aggressive on Roads, don´t feel like you have to teach others a Lesson, even if you sometimes want to :)
I know the feel, bro.. I live near by the Nordschleife, just 5-10 minutes away, and I was chasing down a 370z in my E34 (520i 24V) and he was such a bad driver he couldn't even turn but on the straights he was pulling and my heavy 5 series couldn't keep up. I was keeping up and could overtake him in the corners but he didn't let me and his few more HP made me look slow on the straights... Hate those people. And just to clarify, in Bergwerk the corner you attacked at 2:09 was fine, you were just about to turn in and then that scumbag Mercedes driver made an illegal pass.

thanks mate i have a friend with a 520D (E61) his REALLY fast and the car is completely original to 100% so even in a original car it is possible to do som fun laps. Did i forgot to say he is a VLN driver hahah but there he use to drive Porsches..
Haha nice!!! Yea it's fun even though I have such a slow 520i, it has just 150hp and weighs about 1500kg =D I could try going a bit faster when the track is empty or has less traffic but with so many cars overtaking I can't race the race line and then I have to brake harder and different which means my brakes overheat, sadly =(

Johan Sjöström I have a M50B20 engine, I gotta build it up and then I might turbo it or if I can find a crashed E34 M5 I will swap the parts into my chassis because I have no rust it's in a quite good shape still, unfortunately it's a bit slow =/ Your friends M5 Turbo looks awesome!

That one one the link is not a turbo. Its a 525 with like 230hp. This year he is mounting a compressor ans get like 100 hp extra atleast.
johan, how is the compacts chassis for rigidity? I used to drive e30 and they were very flexy.

The compact is a little bit better even if it s a hybrid between E36 and E30, and my car is not original anywhere in the chassie nowadays. But hey it is NOT like a modern car and as the E30 its pretty tailhappy and even a big portion nervous on the track. 040mobil is 040 you local number in sweden? if thats the fact i am also a 040 person and speak swedish ;-) /Johan
johan sjöström haha no, like 0w40 Mobil 1 oil. I am in Alberta canada. My e30 had an sr20det from a silvia. It was very well balanced. All alloy engine made a big difference in weight distribution.
Your driving is superb, don't let that joke of a fucking driver get you down. He's only fast because he's getting lucky with wheel placement. Another inch and he would have been sucked into the wall.

The Merc driver had obviously never driven the NS on a video game, talk about no idea of line! the driver was a danger to themselves and others, his arrogance and stupidity were clear to see, as was their inability to drive a car at speed....he even drove illegally through Bergwerks by overtaking on the right! As Johan has explained, The NS on TF is a 2 lane public road, and german driving laws ALWAYS apply!....Anyone visiting the Ring should learn the line on a video game, then keep out of the way until they get safe and fast......thats what i, and most other sensible people have done! ......Nice line Johan, I could tell you were very annoyed by how much you were looking for him in your mirror ;)
can you suggest a good video game? i mean a game where the track is realistic so i can learn it a little bit before driving there?

Wanja Schonecke The most games for Playstation/Xbox are nowadays pretty realistic. But rember one thing, there is ALWAY a huge difference beteen a videogame and the reality, just because you have 10.000 laps on your ps3 you are not a good driver down there. But for some training i think it is very good.
I used Gran Turismo on the PS3 with a Logitech wheel and pedals....Like Johan said, this will give you a good idea of where the track goes, but it still takes a good 50+ laps of real driving to really understand it...when you first go try and get some passenger laps with someone who knows the ring first, then start slowly and don't time yourself!!...concentrate on learning the line and speed will naturally build....Enjoy (y)
thanks i will try that... a friend drives glp, so i can do many laps with him before i drive by myself. anyway its not a bad idea to practice it on a video game additionaly, just to get used to the order of corners.
+el concordistador you didn't watch the whole video did you? The Merc driver went off at Eiskurve, he was driving so close to the right, he was CLEARLY a bad driver, and you know absolutely nothing about driving, if you think that white merc was driving well.
Kudos to you Johan. You kept a cool head, the Nordschleife is lucky to have fans a participants like yourself. I live in the state of Arkansas and it bothers me to see people such as the Mercedes driver have that level of disregard for such a wonderful privilege that I'l never get to experience.

Thanks for the reply. Never say never, this autom i had a young guy from california in the car, he was there on his own and had rented a BMW 125i for some laps. I offered him a lap before his own first and he did really appreciate it. Well i say one thing, you really must try to get there is so special and awsome!

If you have a fucktard like this one in front of you, you only want to overtake him, firstly because you want to have fun and "pedal to the floor", because this guy is slower than the bimmer driver, and secondly because you don't want to have a danger like this one near your car

Intersting input, i know im not a perfect driver and get angre very easy whne people drive like this. Please tell me about my several mistakes so i can learn to be betterr. Are we talking about mistakes in the racing line or mistakes as a driver on track full of people? Thanks for your input!

No papers and the car is under continious development. at the moment i swap engine to a S50B32. But people are always wen come to ask question about The car.
Well done for responding to all the negative posts. I have watched the video and you drove damn well ...maybe even a little too carefully what with all the mirror checking and all. And well done for not dive-bombing ...I saw a couple of gaps where less careful people would have tried to get past. All in all you did well and I am very impressed with your car. I drive a 330i these days and have HUGE appreciation for the legendary BMW straight six. A stripped out 325ti Compact would be welcome in my growing garage ...

Thanks, some positive comments dotn hurt :-) With all that traffic and unexperienced people mixed with more experienced i preffert o drive a little bit more careful. Better safe than sorry ;-) The difference between an accident or an fast overtake is very close but that i think you know. 330i i a really nice car, maybe a little heavy from the beginning, i would love to have the S50 engine in my car, more torque and som more Hp :-) /J
You see the Merc is on the edge of oversteering alot. Without driving aids, this guy would not make it through first corner after the bridge :). Lets hope his visit on the grass at Eiskurve(and probably scratched the bottom of the car badly, because of the high curbs) made him think twice! ...something about Karma? hihi

Well i know by fact is not an easy track, even the best drivers of the green hell still make mistakes at some point, and you driving an old BMW that clearly u had prepared for the track and still go driving better than some stupid boys with their parents sport cars that have no idea of the complexity that its to drive at high speed and take the best lines on the corners each time for more than 10min, its not just driving in the Autobahn its a track there is rules and limitations, men u have driven better than a lot of people, don't put yourself down. Keep driving like u do, and never get down to the level of stupid kids that think they can drive. :)

The mercedes passes you on the right is it correct on nurburgring or you should ever pass on the left? Looks like the driver has no cognition of how to behave standing always on the right and then accelerating like hell in the straight.

We all know there is a certian line on the track we are supposed to follow but to be honest i would just drive my own line and what makes me feel most comfortable.
next time you shouldn't drive so near to someone like him, all the theory and ability you have will not save you when the car in the front is ready to crash or do something weird at any moment, you just ended up angry until you saw him on the grass
Great video mate. I don't know if you're heel-toeing or not, can't tell 100% from the video, but it doesn't look like you are, and it's really worth it to learn it! The car will certainly appreciate it. It is good for track and city driving, and can even save your life one day.

Ja det är något alldeles underbart! Jag bor i Malmö så det är lite närmare. I aug/sep åker dock ett gäng på kanske 5-6 pers från stockholm med mig ner och har det skoj. Finns intresse finns plats i bil eller med egen bil.
The guy with the SLK was in my opinion a simple "curious" with no past experience on the Nordschleife... and obviously really proud of driving a faster car than others could.

I wish but it´s only a 328 engine. It is not easy to pass through Swedish TúW with different engine, 328 looks ike original 323 that why i got that one.
I hope i never encounter you or the Merc driver on the track, The Merc driver because he quite obviously did not have a clue, and you because you let your emotions get in the way of track driving, putting yourself and others at risk. If you didn't like his driving so much you should have backed off and put some space between him and resumed your pace. All arguments on the track can be resolved in the marshals office after the lap.
Isn't there a code of conduct for track racing? Like a briefing on what to do and what not to do? If these were things he violated couldn't you have taken the video to the track admins and shown this lack of conduct?

Hi! Yes there is and you are right this probably the only right way to do, they have banned him for the day or longer i am 100% sure of.
Well, I wont say who are "worse" driver here, but I believe.. If you think another driver is putting you at danger, then you should just pull back, and relaxe for a moment untill he is gone. -- who cares about a lap time compared to a huge crash and the risk of losing a life. If you have a bad temper and get angry, then you shouldnt drive at all. It doesnt really matter if you are a pro or newbie, if others dont drive as aspected, you are in a risk of crashing. Ive been driving gokarts, and with newbies on the track there are pretty much allways minor contact betwine drivers, since the new people brake and turn in a very strange pattern, soo keeping the lines are not that simple. you are doing just fine avoiding a crash, but you should learn to control your temper, never ever get angry at others, and keep your focus on your own driving. ( be safe )

Thanks, normally i really do control my temper, well on most of the laps there is people in my way but i normally just wait until they see me and step aside, the worst is the bikes who do not see you or dont care in a quarter of a lap, that makes me a little bit irritated, Last i time i went down i remember an old guy in a bimmer driving pretty fast for a standard car (maybe like sub 10 minutes he NEVER moved away and i think it was me and 5 other cars behind him, i tried with different methods like turn signal, flashing with light, getting close to him, stay as far i could on the left side but nothing worked out. That kind of people makes me irritated i admit but that does not mean i make stupid things. The same thing as when you drive on a highway and a slow car stays in the left lane, why?? Be safe is a good motto!
What you see at the merc driver is lack of talent (and/or lack of experience on the nordschleife) combined with too much horsepower. BUT: Remember it was just "Touristenfahrten". Not even a trackday. You could always approach unexperienced drivers with bigger engines and i guess you know that too. I'm completely on your side and i would be pissed as well. But i suggest you draw consequences and drive to real trackdays like DSK or Pistenclub instead.

Mondraketen Fanclub good point, the problem with trackdays is risky with weather and cost a little bit to much money for me. But i agreee with you totally TF is far from a trackday,
