Bad Experience at Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar 

Yikes....Ya.... This is a scary mess for most bartenders and servers. Physical passports are required in California parks.... Although Florida has different rules and are much more lenient. For instance I believe Florida accepts a digital copy of your passport that's on your phone California Parks will not accept digital copies of your passport or international driver's license as proper identification. . Not having proper identification throws up a red flag because California has agents that go bar to bar and make sure that people are being identified properly. Not following the rules can land the server or bartender up to one year in county jail and a $2,500 fine not to mention you would be fired, it would also affect the establishments liquor license. This is a situation to take very seriously. There's a really good possibility he was trying to get management to come out and talk to you, but that takes forever in a busy place. I'm sorry you had to learn that the hard way.... And it made for a horrible experience. From the bartender's point of view: Going to jail, $2,500 fine, losing your job? Probably not going to serve that cocktail.

My husband & I were AP holders now Magic Keys so we were at the parks fairly often. We have had the opportunity to visit Trader Sams a handful of times and sadly for us each time we were met with a very rude bartender who I guess is very well know to regulars and has been working for Disney for years. It really put a bad taste in our mouth that we just stopped going all together. The atmosphere and theming is awesome and the food is pretty good, we decided to give it another shot and honestly were so surprised. We were served by Christian who was such a delight and just genuinely nice guy. He definately made that trip for us!

I believe it. 🗿 There are some cast members that prove otherwise. However; that does not exclude the fact that there are also rude cast members that completely taint the experience. Lousy service for what you pay for. The only redeeming quality is the ‘eye candy’ inside the restaurant. They’ve also been out of souvenir mugs for nearly half a year. 🍹

I had the same problem at this bar. I went there for my birthday, after a visit to California Adventure and I tried to show my driving’s licence and national ID card (I’m from Argentina), but they refused to serve without a passport. I took no offense though, I know in the US drinking age is a serious matter and IDs are required everywhere. I wish that Disney made it more clear that only a passport is acceptable

This was an unfortunate situation, but it turned into an amazing meal Rand much needed adult beverages elsewhere. Even in the bad times Disney comes through.

u need ur driver lincence from ur canda area in ur town ask them to get ur driver lincence :) frist nd the to the us. when u get ur lincence done it it take awhile to do ur linces ill be come in in next 2 week maybe so. so go get them

Going to a bar? You must bring proper I.D. Now you know. I've been to Trader Sams and Disneyland many times. love it, but....there is a wait for everything!!! Dont take it personally. There are just alot of people ahead of you. After all...What were the guests expecting? "tiki-disney-mcdonalds" ?😆

I was actually at Disneyland a month before this video was uploaded. But anyway, it's an honest mistake to not know that you must carry a passport if ordering alcohol with an international id... I didn't know this until watching this video! However, the cast member was wrong in treating you this way, as he should know that people are vising Disneyland from all over the world! I'm sorry that you now have a negative experience of Trader Sams, as it is my go-to restaurant & bar and some of my best memories are there. Hopefully you'll want to give it another chance someday! :)

I've never had a bad experience at Disneyland. Whoever at Disney World that is a different story.

Not able to accept a Canadian ID? Seriously, Disney? Gosh, I guess this crew must have been your very first foreign visitors, right? I mean, you've been around since 1955.

I was SCREAMED at by the head bartender there also!! (September 2018) Because I had my Canadian drivers licence for ID and not my passport. I travel all over the USA (Florida, Minnesota, New York, Arizona, etc!) and this was the first time EVER that this happened to me! I didn't complain to Disney after this happened but I really should have. Other people around me were like "WTF?" and all I could say was "This has never happened to me before..." It was embarassing. He could have at least said it just to ME instead of the entire room.

I didn't bring the proper ID. They didn't serve me What the hell is their problem?

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience! I get that policy is policy BUT personally I'm not a fan of carrying my passport around a busy theme park! Imagine if he had taken your friend's passport with damp fingers and caused something to wrinkle or run? Border crossing may not accept your passport in that state. My friend had to get his entire passport redone because it got a ripple spot from a damp finger ( that caused a word to blur a bit) even though you could still read it just fine. You cannot mess with the condition of your passports, not to mention what if you lost it? No thank you, I will drink elsewhere. This situation was entirely the bartenders fault, as you DID retrieve your passports and you did wait patiently for service. You caused no harm here. As for your camera, everyone films all over Disneyland, this is not a new thing for the cast members and would not be a deterrent for service. He just needed an injection of pixie dust up his butt! LOL

I'm not sure that 20 minutes in a long enough wait time to leave and take the thing up with guest services. I say 20 min b/c he did try to serve at the beginning but couldn't due to the policy and was nice about it. I'm sure there might have been the feeling like he was right there but didn't want to acknowledge you came back ; it's not entirely clear in the video. Sorry it was a bad experience.

I know exactly who that is. ROY! He's a complete A hole and always has an attitude. Sorry your experience was bad. There are really nice bartenders there. I've avoided him at all costs when I go because he does not deserve my tip.

I can kind of understand why your bartender is not wanting to come back, especially when you're shoving a camera in his face I'm sure that at this point he would have realized that you're going to most likely post a negative video about him and his service as for myself I Had the best experience of my life when I was at Trader Sam's last year, all the bartenders friendly and the food was fantastic and being Canadian all I had to do is show my advance driver's license which in Canada also works as a passport when driving over the Border, because in British Columbia you can opt for the official Customs clearance border driver's license. I'm a bit shocked that your bartender didn't know this because mine certainly did. now flying into the United States is a different story then you need your passport but as a Canadian driving over I've only ever used my Advanced driver's license. Sorry you had a bad experience but yours is just one out of a million good experiences that people have at Trader Sam's every year. One thing I must comment on though was how badly the park was being run the weekend I was there, do to a was a huge influx of thousands upon thousands of young farmers of America kids and they totally destroyed the experience for everyone else around them. They were consistently butting in line and there was nothing that the park staff could do about it, such a black eye for the young farmers of America. It ruin the experience for me definitely I even went to some of the park employees and talked to them about it and they said there was nothing they could do about it I guess you can't really ban thousands upon thousands of potential customers even if they're misbehaving completely! Felt sorry for their chaperones they looked totally overwhelmed because of misbehaving stupid teenagers.
