I appreciate the cadence of your videos, your conversations and your every day life. It brings me back home. I didn't see an assistant. I saw a team. A man who knew his place and a woman who knew hers. Just as God planned. The Bible says she was "meet" for the man. They came together just right. They fit. When we get out of God's plan.... we see a wrecked society. Just like we have today. We need to recognize God's plan is right and get back in it. Shovel the rest into a hole and flush it.

Tipper, I completely understand about falling. Almost a year ago, I fell and tore my hamstring in 3 places. It's all still healing and the experience was/is horrific. The only good thing that came out of my recovery from my hip being torn up and then being fixed is, I discovered your channel while searching for recipes and doing some genealogy research. Dear Tipper, Im sorry you broke your rear, and have a dent still to this day, but let me express my thanks for making me chuckle because I have not had my mind off of my mom since she died a little over a week ago at age 92. We buried her only a little over 48 hours ago. And when you went into your fall and how you didnt break anything except you broke your rearend, I can honestly say, it was something that worked to temporarily and completely take my mind off of the internal sorrow and loss I've been feeling for days. So you just never know what your stories and your channel is doing to help people. Your story just really made me chuckle aloud. Thank you sweet lady. God bless you and yours. Take care. 🙏

Our Dads sound a lot alike. There used to be a man named Sterling Marple who built houses in our town. He took a liking to Dad when Dad was young and he hired him to help with some of the building jobs that he did. Dad said he learned a lot from Sterling and Dad was always able to do whatever needed done at our house. I remember only once when Dad hired a job done and that was when he and Mom had an addition built on to our home around 1986. My husband knew nothing about building anything when we were married and Dad taught him a lot over the years. He's grateful now as he can do a lot of our projects himself. The older generation really took things into their own hands and took life seriously. I think we need more of that today.

Speaking of falls, several years ago my husband and I were painting the soffit. Actually he wouldn’t climb that high so I said heights don’t bother me so I will do it. I climbed up the extension ladder with a can of paint and brush and just at the top the ladder slid down and I fell in a huge shrub. What a bruise I had on my backside! My husband bragged I fell still holding the paint can and didn’t spill a drop 😊 Next time, he braced that ladder so this wouldn’t happen again.

It was cold this morning ( 36 degrees) , and the older I get the more I feel it . Different weather pattern this year , the cold air is slamming into us instead of easing in over time . Comfrey is good for the bones . Stubbed my toe on a ottoman this passed week , almost cried . First thing I did was rub Comfrey ointment on it , relieves most of the pain . It was downright cold this morning and I believe it got down to 38° here in my part of WV. I needed a jacket to go to church this morning. It should be getting about time to start your first fire of the season. I really look forward to the videos you upload on Sundays and I enjoy listening to you and Matt just having a casual conversation about your memories and your daily life. It's so nice to see a married couple spend time together just talking. I think that is disappearing in today's hurried culture and that's part of the reason people end up divorcing. If you find yourself in Petersburg when you're back east, there's this place called Blue Willow Tea Room that's essentially the ground floor of a three story antique shop. Nearly everything in the tea room has a price tag on it and then you can shop your way into the rest of the building. If getting caffeinated and then browsing through old croquet sets and armoires excites you, it's a great stop. Were I not hours away they'd probably have all of my money.

Boy Howdy, your stories about falling were making me feel the OUCH!!! And I totally relate to the fear. I went to my daughter's house today to do some much needed pruning of old-growth Rhododendrons, Lilacs, and other overgrown shrubbery around the property. She and her family weren't at home while I was there. More than a few times I was very tempted to get the ladder out to lop off some of the higher branches. Decided to pass on that idea, because the places I'd have to set up the ladder were just too uneven, soft, and precarious! Not too long ago, I wouldn't have even thought twice about it. Aging definitely puts us through some changes, doesn't it? I have a hard time accepting them... Hey, I can't wait to see how the steps and walkway turn out. That is going to make things SO much easier. Yay, Matt!!! Continued prayers for Granny. Peace be with you. 💚

I am so glad I am not the only one who is not as steady on their feet as they used to be! Not that I want anyone else to fall, but it makes me not feel so bad about getting older knowing I am not the only one! 😊 I am only 52 but over the last few years I have fallen 3 times! Two of those times I tripped and landed on my knee and scraped it up so deep that it took about three months to heal! The other time I was in my kitchen cleaning out a cool mist humidifier and stepped on the cord that was hanging on the floor and I fell to the ground and into the refrigerator and pantry and broke my pinky finger so bad that I had to have two surgeries on it! I never thought I'd see the day I would be someone who was prone to falling! I am thankful to be able to get older, but I wish I still felt as young, energetic, and steady as I used to! LOL

How many more years will I be able to do that? Matt is smart about being cautious about falls. At 60 a six-foot ladder tipped over with me and I probably cracked a rib shortly after I retired. Lesson learned. Tipper, you're in good hands . . . he will fix that slope so you won't fall. As I type I am hearing a V of geese fly over my house. We're in the changing time . . . everybody enjoy!

Have yall ever thought about doin your sit down and chattin or reminiscen around a fire at night? While you were telling the stories about that different falls yall have experienced, I had a picture in my head of sittin around a camp fire, absorbed in the flames and hearing these stories. Great video as always!

With any worthwhile project comes some hard work. For some “work” is considered a dirty four letter word, that they always try to stay away from. For others “work” is considered to be a means to an end, an attractive way to thrive and achieve. To me, the best part of work is when the project is finished. Then comes the satisfaction of the accomplishment. That is the time to celebrate. You can celebrate with something as simple as having a popsicle in the glider outside. The reward is the ability to admire your work and to acknowledge your accomplishments. The work that you folks are putting into your garden area today will payoff next spring as planting begins. Thank you for sharing this project and please keep us posted on the progress. God bless y’all and enjoy everyday! - Tennessee Smoky

Yep, age sure does change how you feel about falling and do what you can to prevent it. I have to smile when your Dr asks you if your afraid of falling. Dang tootin I am, took a fall face first into a mud puddle last year, mud all over me, it was kinda funny, saw it coming, can’t do a thing about it. Prayers for you all. Steps sure will be nice.

Y’all are both hard working people for sure. I agree it best to move as much as you can, while you can, because when you get up in your 60’s it gets harder to do as much. It goes down hill after your 60’s if one does keep moving and doing. I fell a couple of years back just walking through a door, tripped and fell right into the wall. I cracked 2 ribs. Most painful thing I have ever experienced. About 10 years back I fell down my back porch steps. I damaged my left leg and still to this day I have a dent in my leg between my angle and calf. I was just thankful each time I didn’t break anything. I do have a fear going down steps and watch what I do walking through doors. I reckon that fear will never leave me.

North Carolina is so beautiful. My only granddaughter just moved to South Carolina and we need to go visit her and her family. We’re going to visit North Carolina and soak up some of that beauty as well. I love the colors of the leaves turning. Thank you for the nice visit. Y’all are like family for those of us who are displaced southerners and it just warms the heart.😊

I learned so much from my Daddy too and miss him so much. I was his helper on most things. My favorite thing was learning how to drive tractors and bush hog. His first tractor was an 8N and then he upgraded to a Massey Ferguson. My least favorite thing to do was help him drive posts with a post hole digger. Cross fencing the pastures. That was some hard work. If I could have him back I’d be more than glad to do it again. I know you miss your Daddy too Tipper. ❤

I never had a favorite time of year until I moved to south eastern Kentucky! It is in the foothills of the Appalachian mountains and it is stunning! We had a frost last night so I harvested a ton of stuff today, but I did not even get to! But it’s out in the greenhouse under cover so I will be doing that I’ll probably tomorrow! I was not able to let my beans dry on the bone because of the cabbage worm that was eating them up and I just couldn’t keep up caring For them. I’ve been not feeling well for quite some time, and I certainly hope and pray that it’s not Lyme disease! Please pray for me! Thank you so much!

I’ve always wanted to make acorn flour too. I haven’t done a whole lot of research on it to see what all is involved. We get so many acorns it almost feels like wasting them to not use them for something. Beautiful video, fall is finally here!

Here on the south east coast of Florida we are happy when we get up and it’s in the 70s! We had such a hot summer this year and still getting storms that are cranking up out in the ocean. I can’t wait for November 30 so our hurricane season will be over with for the year. Had a doctors appointment today and my husband and I both got our flu shots for the flu season. Your winter squash did really good. Yeah it looks like y’all are about ready to put everything to bed for the winter. I hope y’all have a wonderful week. Hugs from the southeast coast of Florida. Keeping granny in our prayers.😎🦩🌞🦩😎

Y'all talking about hard work, how it's good for a person, I couldn't agree more. Seems like modern man pays other people to do things, then lose their physical fitness, then pay somebody to make them workout at a gym and get fit again. I am only as fit as I am thanks to having a lot of yard-work to do out here in the country (gyms/fitness clubs don't appeal to me). If we moved to the city I think my body'd fall apart, lol. Love listening to you all visit, always learn some little (or big) something here. THANK YOU!!! 🙌🏼 💓

Tipper, thank you for stating that office work, computer work, deadlines, etc comes with its own type of tiredness. I worked in hospital medical records and at a university. There were days it was exhausting. I knew a few people that thought if you worked at a desk in heat and air conditioning, you weren't really working.

My name is Bylinda and I am 71 and will be 72 next month. Last month I was letting my dogs ( 3 chihuahuas) out the back door so they could do their business. While standing in the doorway i chose that particular time to pass out. First time i have ever done it. Hit my ribs from under my left breast all the way down. Came to on the deck and partially on an Adirondack chair. I managed to get up but it took me weeks to breath or even move without pain. Sure glad that one is behind me.
