I'm no historian but I've earned a B.F.D looking at pictures in coffee table books.

Saw the movie when came out even though i had moved away from the Civil War - more interested in French & Indian War at the time. The movie is entertaining if you can ignore the Lost Cause stuff, bad beard, crappy uniforms and silly situations like the Chamberlain - Hancock meeting.

The Gettysburg Movie captured the essence of the battle with some poetic license. It only lacked the genius of Dan Sickles ' maneuvering . Where would Chamberlain rate without Sickles leaving Roundtop and wearing out the Longstreet assault which would cave in to the bayonets charge that won the battle and the War

The fact that the movie never mentions the "Custer vs Stuart" cavalry fight really annoys me - especially seeing as how the last we see of Stuart in the film is him taking a proverbial gut punch by Lee chewing him out.

While they are only following the book, which also excluded the East Cavalry Field fight, I agree it would be preferable to see Stuart in a more well-rounded light.

The decisive battle? Easy, the battle that made Lee sit down with Grant.

Awe, come on, guys, you want classic wrestling. Let's hear about BoBo Brazil, Louis Martinez, Dominic DeNucci, and/or the Von Erichs! That is classic wrestling. 😂😅😊. I love your podcast it's wonderful.

No disrespect to any of those wrestlers, but I grew up with Mid-Atlantic Wrestling / Jim Crockett Promotions and will always be biased to the likes of Flair, Steamboat, Valentine, Piper, Iron Sheik and the rest. Good times!

Not a qualified historian, or even buff, by any means, but to me a decisive moment in the Civil War and American history was when General Grant turned toward Lee's army after making it through the Wilderness.
