0:41 - 0:50 the horse just got out of control and ran away with her. Don't know if she'll see this, how long ago it was or if she even rides that horse anymore but if this happens drop one hand - relax the rein but don't let go of it and pull the other hand straight to your hip, the horse will be forced to then turn into a tight circle and will have to stop. sit in your saddle, lock in with your legs, sit up straight, shoulders back, drop one hand (either one)pull the other to hip. Don't scream or wave your arms/legs about. try aviod an emergency dismount here because at those speeds it's really dangerous. Hope this helps any of you fellow riders to keep control of your ponies😂I use this method. if you want any advice either look it up or you are more than welcome to ask me
Just do an emergency stop (left hand crosses and pushes into the horse's neck and the right hand crosses over and pulls, they cannot move forward. It's a basic skill that needs to be taught more.
Equine X I do too I always check my horses after she falls. Feel for heat on there legs, check for wounds make sure they walk right because even if you don't feel heat make sure they aren't limping
@@amygamer3186 ik this comment is from a long time ago so I hope you have done some more research around this area but horses aren't put down with a broken leg because they are 'useless' they are put down due to the fact that the tendons and nerves around their legs normally become severed from a sharp piece of bone and so cannot heal properly and will not be able to put any weight on the leg. If a horse cannot move around or use the leg laminitis, which is extremely painful for the horse, can develop as well as abscesses. They put the horse down because it would be in a lot of pain and would not be able to live a good quality of life so it's more humane for the horse to be put down. However, in some cases the horse can actually use it's leg and can heal and won't be put down it would most likely be retired as it would be unsafe for the horse to race anymore. In recent years, due to advanced technology and medicine, veterinarians are actually looking at ways that don't result in the horse being put down. It's a common misconception that the reason the horse is put down is because it's 'useless' which is not the case with a lot of riders as they love and care for their horse. I will agree there are some bad riders out there that wouldn't look further than just putting it down.
Oh my god the rider getting dragged at 1:20 😰Damn that's a bad fall!!! Hope they were OK! That horse must have been soo scared with something hanging under him the poor boy was just scared
powe Pony nala Vor allem hinterlässt es ja bei dem Pferd so etwas wie ein Trauma... Klar variiert die Stärke bei jedem aber trotzdem bringt es sie dazu dem Menschen nicht mehr zu vertrauen.
Jade_ Equestria racing, it’s disgusting. This happens allllll the time in racing and I just can’t understand why anyone would want to abuse a horse like that.
@@tigolbiddies337 Incorrect- NORMAL racing, things like this don't happen a lot, only the bad things are shown. I don't agree with steeplechases, as they jump when the horses are only around 2-3 years old, but horses love to gallop but they fall sometimes, sometimes resulting in getting injured.
@@alisonmackrill8636 Well even if they weren’t stepped on, you can obtain serious injuries from being dragged. Your leg/foot can break or fracture from that position and from the constant movement of hitting the ground and such, you can break your ribs, back, have internal bleeding, break your neck, etc. So no, I doubt they were very okay..
It's actually a really outdated concept that horses have to be shot if their leg breaks. It's a long process, but they can survive and be ridden afterwards, though usually just slowly and not for long.
What about the film Dreamer she had a nasty break but went back racing. Also I think Alantie done something bad to his leg, and he went to win the grand national. Both owners/trainers refused to put these horses down
1:35 the guy on the chestnut horse got off and ran to her and got on top of her so the horse wouldn’t step on her…I find that amazing just goes to show not all rodeo people are horrible
Totally agree. I've fallen many times but I've only been taken out of the ring in an ambulance once... and it was all because my horse tripped. Luckily we were both ok, but I like to tell that story to people who say "Oh, but my horse is really safe! (S)he doesn't spook at anything!" Neither does mine, that didn't stop me from ending up in the trauma ward.
“All you do is sit there” “You don’t even get hurt” Then you ask why don’t you try the sport? They say “I don’t like them” or “It’s not even fun” When secretly they know it’s hard they just act to make you feel bad cause if it’s easy everyone would do it!
1:34 really shows the good in the horse industry. for one girl and her horse 10+ people ran over to help her. even the guy behind her on his horse... most likely thru were against each other, but he knew how dangerous it is and risked his life to save a girl he probably didnt know... wow.
BriaEquestrian yes but the horse was in horrid pain. Horses don’t flip over violently shaking their head for nothing. I’m not saying that all bits are bad but pain from the bit is what causes horses to do that MOST of the time
Charlotte :D And Jacob i cant speak for the rider because i dont know what caused the horse to act like that, but judging only from the video, the horse jumped up in excitement for its run and pulled against the person holding him. then the rider tried to balance off his mouth, which obviously isnt the best method but she was reacting out of fear. and i will stand by my opinion on bits til the end of the day, bit isnt what caused the pain, the pressure applied by the riders hands or the person holding his is what caused the pain. im not focusing on the bad in that video, i was focusing on the good in the reaction of the people around.
I remember when I was at a jumping competition and fell off my horse and hit my head really hard I got a severe concussion and couldnt remember who was president or what month it was but I got better quick and got back out there but it was scary. Please wear a helmet when riding a horse!! Be SAFE!
1:34 this is sad. The reason he reared was because she was fighting him. That was why he was shaking his head so violently . If your gonna fight with your horse that badly don't ride 😶
It should be banned. I live near Saratoga race track in NY and every year multiple horses die. The last time I went to the track a horse fell and broke its leg and died right on the track. I will never go to the track again. It's HUGE in Saratoga. It brings in so much money to Saratoga and the surrounding cities that there is no way they will ever ban this cruel "sport."
I hear about more equine deaths in jumping than racing. Not to mention, in the wild horses live to 40-50. In captivity horses only live to an average of 20-30 years. Maybe we shouldn't have horses at all.
1:09 Oh no! That’s terrifying! I hope she’s okay! I definitely understand why I was really disciplined with my foot placement. Make sure it’s the ball of your foot (area behind your toes) on the stirrup!
I’m watching this because I had the worst fall ever: to the point where I was lying down on the floor with a spinal shock, and no lower body control. The scariest thing I have ever experienced, Im fine now but I could have been paralyzed the rest of my life.
When horses just take off people tend to kinda abort. I ride an OTTB at my barn and after jumps he always takes off. Just gotta dig your heels down, and sit back. Anything to stay on. Also gs ur in an enclosed area and ur horse isn’t aggressively bucking, try to stay on. Aborting at those speeds can be way worse than staying on.
Yeah I do agree but it's instinct and reflex, it's happened to me before and you don't realise what you're doing with your hands at the time, but as long as once you're down/ back on the horse and safe just make sure you let go and check the horse is okay
Super late reply, but pretty much any riding instructor will tell you to absolutely drop your reins when you fall. Especially if you're in an arena where the horse will be contained. It may be an instinct to hold on to something, but reins aren't exactly a stable thing to use for support so that's always seemed like a lousy excuse to me, personally. When in doubt, grab mane lol
Hi there. I am 26 years old. I have been my entire life with horses and cows. I am 4th generation horse and cows breeder. Where I come from riding is pretty easy most children start at age 6 or 7 pretty young cause they need to help on the labours on the farms or with the cows as they grow I know it's pretty young but it is what it is. The diffucult part is to go and catch the wild horses and break them down. Here horses are different cause they are their entire life running wild until we have to go and catch them and slowly start breaking them down. They are specially wild and dangerous cause they have been all this time in the wild not in stables or closed to people. Horses are very fine and amazing animals but you gotta be careful cause they are animals and can be unpredictable. I felt bad for the horse with the broken leg. People create races with obstacles for what? To make it more fun? But it's more dangerous for both the person and the horse. I had a friend who died many years ago when we were just some kids. I think he was 9 or 10 years old he was older than me. He took his dads horse and fell and his foot got stuck in the stirrup and he got hit by the horse in his head and died inmediatly. Also with the years I have learnt only tu put the tip of my foot not the entire foot in the stirrup in case you fall you can take your foot out. I felt many times breaking a horse, herding our cows on uneven terrain and with rocks or because the horse got scared. You still gonna fall and hurt yourself but it's less dangerous. I ride pretty much everyday for fun, as a transport or for herding our cows. Also sorry for my grammer English is not my native lenguage.
Go take a chill pill! If you don't like the video, don't watch it, it's as simple as that! If you continue to bother me or my viewers who actually appreciate the effort I put into my videos, I'm going to report you. Your threats don't bother me.
TogetherWeFly176 God, some people just shouldn't be upload vids on the internet if they can't even handel criticism. Can't even take a joke and thats a big sign of it
TogetherWeFly176 Yeah, police really takes yt seriously. God, i will go to jail for making you watch titanic (sarcasm) Since it's already explained in the thread that it is a joke i dont really see why the police would be bothered to care. I see you can joke too after all though. I mean "i can take criticism" must be a joke right? Otherwise this whole thread wouldn't even exist if you could take criticism. But hey, I'm gald you see my comments as treats. You're welcome! ^^
Note: the horse racing videos are all steeplechase. I don't see any flat racing videos, just steeplechasing... Besides according to the JC breakdowns (in flat racing) have decreased by more than 4% in just one year.
Wanna know what pisses me of the horse always gets the blame even if it was not his/her fult Thats a bad rider if they are mean Good rider its ok lets stop now when they hurt there self they see if the horse is ok before they worry about them selfs and they dont hurt it its gone through enough thats a nice rider I HATE THE BAD ONES
I think all we see is the kicking and pulling we don’t see any of the barrel racers who are incredible and are so good to their horses and it’s a shit ton of work to barrel race. It works a lot of different muscles.
