@@BICCollective That's right Cynthia. That's why Jesus corrected and edited the mistakes made prior in attributing tenets to God that were not.

There is no Jesus in the OT - for He is the End, the Goal and Purpose and Fulfilment, of a long process of revelation - as St Paul says in Romans 10.4. And His Coming relativises all that earlier process. The Bible is not the final judge of all matters of belief and behaviour - Jesus, God’s First and Last Word, is the final judge of all those things.

Yeah, but to what extent was the bible revised, edited, and morphed in translation through the middle ages? What happened to the book of Enoch and Esther?

Jesus who was at odds with Judaism also had a small following. Began as a child in the tradition, grew in the knowledge of His Father and subsequently because of His enlightenment of knowing who He was, became a target from those basing their faith in their Scriptures. Jesus is the LIVING WORD our Bible merely the inspired written word pointing us to Him IN ourselves. See Paul in his inspired comment in Galatians 1/16. Maranatha come Lord Jesus and reveal yourself IN us so that our "walk matches our talk." ❤️

What strawman? I have Christain friends who use OT passages all the time as an excuse to not behave as Jesus commanded us. They say and characterize the bible and Jesus almost exactly as the caricature Zahnd describes in his massage. So I'm just curious what Strawman you're taking about. Care to elaborate?

Would not pass away until someone fulfills them, which Jesus did, at The Cross. And the job Is Finished!!!!

@@markhaney2884 thanks for that. Can you show me where scripture teaches that the OT will pass away once fulfilled by Jesus? I suspect it teaches the opposite. For example, 2 Timothy 3:16 says that ALL scripture is inspired by God and is useful - remembering that Timothy wrote after Jesus went to the Cross. And for Timothy "scripture" would have largely meant the OT. Jesus quoted the OT many, many times. Are you saying it was still in force for Jesus but not for followers of Jesus?

@@markhaney2884 thanks again but I meant can you show me a passage that is clear on this topic. Matt 5:18 says that the scriptures will not pass away until EVERYTHING has been accomplished. Jesus has not yet returned. The Kingdom has not been fully realised. The gospel has not been preached to all nations. Not all who will be saved have been saved. Etc. Etc. Etc. In other words, that verse supports the view that the scriptures have not passed away. Furthermore, it contrasts the enduring nature of the scriptures with the relative impermanence of the heavens and earth. Are you suggesting that the heavens and earth have not yet passed away but the OT has? Is there a passage that clearly says that the Old Testament has passed away because it has been fulfilled by Jesus? If it is true, it would seem to be very important. Where is this teaching?

@@petercheyne Hi Peter My initial response was in regards to Christ fulfilling the law and prophets, which He did at The Cross. I was raised in the Church, as my father was a Pastor for 40+yrs. Most of my life I believed the book of Revelation was future tense, I no longer believe that. It, as well as the entire Bible is the story of Jesus Christ and what He did for man, as well as because of man. The battle between mans O.C. mentality and wanting to earn righteousness vs. the New Covenant reality of Christ, His Grace and Mercy. You want me to name a scripture or passage, well you have to connect the dots of O.T. scripture on into the N.T. scriptures to see the entire picture, Christ crucified and resurrected. Paul calls this the Power of God in 1Co. Because of The Finished Work of The Cross, the Law and The Prophets have been fulfilled. This message is everywhere in scripture, starting with The Lamb of God Who takes away the sin of the world. Did He or didn't He? If we are waiting on His return to defeat sin and Satan, then exactly what happened at The Cross? According to Paul, the law is the ministry of death and condemnation and puts a veil over ones eyes , preventing one from seeing the truth of Gods Grace (Jesus). The law is a curse, but Jesus was made a curse to put to end the curse. The sting of death is sin and the law gives sin it's power. But Jesus is the end of the law to all who believe in Him. The law is a tutor, teaching us that we can't live a perfect life. The law brings wrath ;but where there is no law there is no transgression. The law was given because of transgression, until the coming of The Seed. Notice the law had an expiration date? Paul believed and taught that Jesus nailed the requirements of the law to the cross. He also claimed that He abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is ,the law of commandments. Did you catch that, the law is an enmity to God, says the same thing in Romans and that you can't be a friend of God by focusing on fulfilling the law. In 1Co 6:12 and 10:23 Paul claims all things are lawful. In Romans 7, Paul uses an illustration of jewish law pertaining to marriage to make the point, the law died, so we are dead to the law allowing us to become remarried to Christ. We are no longer married to Moses (O.C.) we are married to Christ (N.C.). Paul tells us ,our role is to be an ambassador for Christ not an ambassador for Moses. I could go into the book of Hebrews and give you many more examples, try 8:13 and 10:18. In regards to the second coming which many are waiting for, and expecting one big event, I believe that happens for each person at death. Why?? Because scripture tells us that , Hebrews 9:26-28. Clear as can be, and notice, the final judgement we face is not in regards to sin but for righteousness!!!! Peace to you my brother. Hope this clears up my previous comment.

Yeshua (Jesus) isn't dead. He is alive forever, He IS the Living Word. And I seriously doubt that He trumps Himself....

You do realize that He did not write the Bible. And when He said something or says something today then what he says trumps the Bible. The Bible was written by men and yes they were inspired but Yeshua Jesus came to correct the ideas that the Jews had misinterpreted. Yes He is alive but not here physically on earth. People interpret words and ideas differently depending on their own experiences and the words used by the writer. As I said, He is the living Word but he is not a book. He corrected some wrong ideas that had developed ..... which is why he said often "it is said that ...... but I say unto you that ........ [correction] The Bible is not living but He is! So yes he trumped the old testament and he can trump the new as well.
