I would love a response from Spivey or Dean Z on this if it is seen. Dean Z speaks of how some of her favorite candidates are below median and mentions that she has less of those spots to give away. My question is, given that the median is the dead center number when they are ordered numerically, isnt it possible that the quantity of students admitted below median be equal to those above or equal to median?

In a theoretical frame, yes, but accepting more (both-unders) requires her to accept more (both-overs) and limits room for splitters and reverse splitters, who make a significant portion of the class.
