Putting their childish antics aside, these guys were clearly up there with the best musicians in the country. The bassline, harmonica and horn section is absolutley sublime.
Lorraine was the first ska song I've heard in my life and it was shocking to me at that time; I fell in love with ska since then and all of the other great bands such as Madness, Specials, and more; but this remains to me one on the most powrful ska tunes ever. Thumns up.!!
On Harmonica is the great Winston Bazoomiest an ec but founding member of Bad Manners Buster (Doug) has said he is an honoury member and welcome back and when you hear al their early albums and hit singles you can understand why. He is a great harmonica platey Gerry
Those were the days, when TOTP meant radin gthe dressing up box and 'pop stars' didn't take themse;lves too seriously, didn't have their heads upo their arses, but loved what hey did andit showed. Besides, Fatty Buster Bloodvessel (Doug Trendle) is an absolute legend in the fun for life stakes. I salute Buster, I salute Ska! :D
Madness were meant to be the nutty boys but lets be honest here Buster was nutty as F**k most videos he was dressed up in some weird get up he made music so much fun something so missing in todays music we need another Buster invasion in the charts kids of today will think what the F**k this but they need to see what they missed in the 80s.
pekinsal&the suede ed..... i was at the donnington rally all those years ago, must have been 84 or 85 ??? I remember the meteors were playing there as well and the area in front of the stage being a real mudbath. Buster and the gang were awesome and i remember the can can dancers coming on stage as well at the end of the gig. I`m sure i saw them at an Isle of white rally as well???
I seem to remeber an official promo video of the lads and Buster in the same Henry viii get up ! its not on youtube. has anyone got it or am i imagining it?
Ah, but the next line is "Then we talked to whole thing out and went straight to bed", thus, informing us - the listeners - that violence is no substitute for discord. Quite enlightened don't you think.
For the first time in my life I was so in love. Aaah haa haa haaa haa haaa! Why are you laughing at me? Brilliant start. Buster out does Keith Michell in the Henry the 8th stakes. He suits a beard. Albeit a fake one. And albeit I knew any chance of the Specials really making a difference, which they promised in 1979, was now a fast retreating thing in the speeding rear view mirror. No different to all the rest then. Rest in Peace.
I remember watching this a long time ago and some other Bad Manners stuff - I liked their music and attitude, but one thing that struck me was, that the front man was actually very good looking! He was really quite a dish, but went around acting a total idiot. zenileon
Well everyone at school used to take the mick out of me when 14 cos my girlfriend was ..... Lorraine. And she even brought me the Looney Tunes LP it came from. Bad Manners great hits are fantastic ... EL Pusseycat
Not sure that Buster would get away with the line about slapping her round the head these days somehow! And i think I heard another questionable word follong the word flipping as well!
