Bad Movie Beatdown: Money Train (REVIEW) 

Originally posted in December 2010, this episode has been re-edited in the usual fashion to tighten up the pacing and trim down the film clips, losing 2m 10s in the process. This is one of (currently) two New Years special episodes, the other naturally being New Year's Eve. For some reason, I seem to have referenced this film a lot in later reviews! @2:30 "Holy shit! Itchy trigger finger much guys?!" An innocent young British lad, not yet aware of the ways of American police.

As an American, I could totally see the guards on a money hauling train wearing body armor (especially in major cities) and if they're government employees, I can also see them having submachine guns that haven't been converted to semi-auto. If they're private, probably semi-auto rifles for their big toys. I can also see some wall street types getting furious over a 46 minute delay. Mind you he might also yell at the guards for involving themselves, slowing down the whole job. Hosing some random street rat down with lead without any warning or saying a word, that is where it's stretched. To be fair, I could see the dialogue of "you're not going to hit him," "Why not?" "Because I'm going to hit him!" working as a nice introduction to the dynamic, but as a catch phrase, I can see the humor running thin.

"You ain't gonna hit him!" "Why not?!" "Cuz I'm gonna hit him!"

They should have had the torch as the main antagonist

Chris Cooper didn't die here. He just gets goblin disease and dies in the hospital.

I saw this movie in the theater. Because I have terrible judgment.

Fun fact: there are at least two real money trains in NYC, one of which is operated by the Federal Reserve.

During the early 2000's there was an online animated spoof buddy cop mini series, that only made like 2 or 3 episodes, called Stems and Seeds. Their advertising slogan was "He's black, He's white and together they are an Eskimo pie of whoop ass!" Every time I see a buddy comedy with a black and white guy it just reminds me of it, which still amuses me ;op

I was NOT expecting this to be a Christmas movie looking at the thumbnail.

Roger Ebert said that this film was blamed for copycat crimes on subway booths. And also said that scenes of grisly violence in this were out of place for a buddy cop comedy. "Why do people find that type of thing amusing?"

disagree with the bit about why the money train would need to have such heavy security surrounding it as It would be a prime target for robberies considering the millions it would be hauling each journey but personally I liked this movie even though it tanked and nobody else seems to like it. Its a fun little watch.

5:16: Honestly, Cooper not mentioning this would matter more if he were still relevant, and he isn't, even by character actor standards. He might be active from 1987 to now, but his relevance basically ended around 2005-2006.

I'm 29 and I never knew that there was an original Taking of Pelham 123. Damn is anything original in Hollywood?

The biggest mistake of this movie is that the two leads are insufferable. Granted they're written to be borderline criminals but we're not given a reason to root for them. Having the antagonist be even worse doesn't magically make them ok.

He's just pumpin the vids out lately!

Hey buddy… this movie was fun action packed and endearing + awesome to see theses two leads back together, so for those facts alone it’s going to be a kma!…😮

That scene really did pile it on, we know Charlie is a fuck up, but are we really supposed to believe he took the new york subway got on a packed train with 15'000 dollars in his pocket? He runs a beat down there on a nightly basis, given there's been some moderate type of crime occurring pretty much every night. I'd think the fact i had 15k in my bloody pocket would be a reason NOT to go down there!!! 😡

Review four Christmases

The begining plot of this movie is so stupid.....these cops set people up to rob them then the subway director guy let's a train through while they're on the track at night bc the money on the train is revenue for the subway system and cannot be delayed.....like...what!?? Makes no sense 🤣 And why does the Transit police have jurisdiction over the NYPD lol .... They're basically security guards lol

Im listenin to a foreigner tell me how shit operates lmao the money train well the real ones transported MILLIONS of dollars in cash yes the guards were heavily armed and wore body armor..i was lucky to see rhe real yellow painted money train once in 15 yrs of riding to the subway and those boys stepping off will and have orders to smoke your ass no questions...nothing in this movie suprised me that i havent seen growing up in NYC i mean if a group of aliens walked into a subway train nobody would even look up and thats the truth

Not a good movie. Underwritten, slow pacing, lack of strong; emotional investment and an inconsistent tone. The train hijack sequence at the end is pretty dang fun, but it's not worth the whole film though-and definitely should've been more than just the last half hour or so too.

The movie is way too long and gets tiresome after an hour. And the pryomaniac guy was kinda a pointless character. And the train manager was evil for no reason.
