This journey is so interesting :) I'm excited about your new apartment, your tips for a visit in Amsterdam and the way you think about living in the presence, building a strong mindset and healthy habits etc.
Hi guys, really enjoying your videos so far. I've been contemplating about moving to Amsterdam for a while so very useful content. Quick question for Thomas, I'm also from the UK so was wondering if brexit posed any difficulties for you when relocating to the Netherlands? Thanks
Hey Ren Dog, Thomas here. Thank you! To answer your question, from my research if a UK citizen moves to the Netherlands and registers here before Jan 01 2021 (before Brexit), then nothing will change, the process is so easy. Just have to register at the muniplicity (I moved to Rotterdam last year and it was super easy). If we move to an EU country after Jan 01 2021 it is much harder to move with visas, work visas etc. So likely to need a working visa contract to move to the Netherlands after dec 31 2021. Does this help? 🙏🙏🙏
I agree, I wouldn't like it too when the price is driven up like that... but it is Amsterdam... it happens basically all the time. Also when buying a house.
When you’re buying a house, that’s pretty much normal. But not when it comes to renting a place. We also had a chat with a different real estate agent and he also said that’s not the case and shouldn’t be like that. We’re glad at the end that this wasn’t „our“ flat 😃🙏🏻
@@thomasandsarabritgerman Amsterdam is a seller's market. I had heard it done many times before, basically, in real estate, anything goes. Anyways, great to hear that you guys are happy with your new 'lovenest' in Amsterdam! Have fun! Greetings from a fellow Amsterdammer! Ah! 1 more thing... tip: Get a bike ASAP! You can buy, but also rent them starting from around €17,50 a month. If you buy one, get an ABUS lock! Another tip: You must register yourself at a General Practitioner as soon as you have a house, and get the details of your Huisartsenpost for your district. The GP is your starting point for any medical treatment. Tip: Call the Amsterdam City Council and ask for the Amsterdam Expat Welcome Package/checklist; it covers almost everything you need to do to settle in Amsterdam, including getting a BSN-number (Citizen registration number). You will need it for EVERYTHING... Good luck again!
